The Twins also refused to retain Santana. Who knows what would have happened. It's widely assumed his arm broke down due to overuse by the Mets. Perhaps if the Twins had spent the cash he could have conitued as a hall of fame caliber pitcher. They also refused to keep garza and liriano around as well, two guys with actual good "stuff" at the time. Instead they settle for pitch to contact guys left and right.
I don't buy that excuse for a second, dozier is in the prime age of his life. His legs looked plenty fine on all those stupid dance videos he is a part of. Stop trying to pull the ball all the freaking time. You aren't David Ortiz.
Also isn't the point of having a 6 man rotation is that it allows you to bring in one of your starters in a situation like that? Instead of relying on a dude with a 5.50 era?
Email MLB support, if you complain they will toss you a nice discount at the MLB store at the very least 30% and often times will give you a month or two free next year
Seattle, Texas, San Diego, Arizona, St Louis have all signed those types and are pretty much similar markets to Minnesota when you look at payroll capabilities. Those are just a couple examples.
But the signings of Santana, Hughes and Nolasco haven't had any real effect on bringing the Twins to this point. Timely hitting and the youngsters stepping up has.
