  1. The Twins offense and defense are "fine" for now, they need catching help and a plan B at CF but other than that I feel pretty good about them. (Plouffe should be gone fwiw) The problem is the rotation just like it has been since Santana left has been an unmitigated disaster. Santana and Gibson are a couple guys we can count on for the back end of the rotation, Berrios should be good but is still young/raw, and frankly everyone else is a massive question mark without a whole lot of upside. I have some faith Hughes can get back to being good, but still is a question mark in my mind. The Twins absolutely need to find a way to bring in at least one ace or #2 type pitcher. The problem is the FA market is pretty bare when it comes to those types of players, so the Twins need to package Rosario+prospects IMO for a young solid #2 type.
  2. This is sadly very common in the film industry, it's especially sad considering it was about a topic/player that Twins fans all very much enjoyed. Frankly, I don't mind that they didn't inform the backers, that money has been spent so the last thing I'm sure they all wanted were a bunch of people demanding their money back all at once. It shows that they are stand up guys to even offer the person who emailed them, the option of their money back. I wouldn't be surprised if a version of this movie came out in some form down the road, they obviously have a TON of footage/interviews/etc that couldn't be replicated, so ideally someone else comes on board and finishes the project down the road.
  3. Auto play ads are back, I'm finally going to turn on ad blocker at this stage, I hate to do it but this site is slowing up/crashing my browser every few weeks it seems. You guys have had 3+ years to get this in order. Feel free to PM once you fix the problem and I will remove ad blocker.
  4. The way I view it is this: During his peak: 2006-2013 (7 seasons) Mauer was a catcher who had a .883 OPS (139 OPS+) won the MVP, 3 batting titles, 5 all star appearances and .327 avg, .410 OBP Most certainly during his peak he was one of the best players in baseball, and one of the best 1 or 2 players at his position. Now a couple years removed from his peak Mauer has turned into a pretty solid 1st baseman overall, not a great one, but when it comes to WAR he is ending up somewhere between 10-12 most likely. Hall of famer all the way.
  5. Him being off catcher almost certainly would have boosted his stats, there is a reason why he was the first catcher in like forever to win a batting title (not to mention multiple batting titles) Also this: Mauer has a JAWS right in line with the all time greats, he has a higher OPS+ then Berra, Bench, Carter, Pudge and Fish as well. Two more seasons like this one and he ends up close to Piazza in terms of WAR. It's not like the "hits" thing is an issue as well, most of the guys above him between 1900 and 2200 hits in their careers. Mauer should end up with somewhere between 2100-2300 depending on how much longer he plays. Again, up until this point Mauer has definitely been a hall of famer, a couple more years like this one, and then maybe one last "halftime player season or two" and he more than seals the deal (hits the 2000 hit milestone, 1000 BB milestone, 1000 R milestone, 1000 RBI milestone)
  6. Mauer also played catcher for the majority of his career as well, I have no doubt in my mind that if he played 1st base or 3rd base those years his OPS+ would be significantly higher as well. The Carew comparison shows us all that Mauer is well on his way to becoming a hall of famer, I think two more productive seasons after this one should seal the deal.
  7. I highly doubt this circus of a front office even thinks this deep/far ahead.
  8. Again, what is the point?
  9. Also by all accounts Barry Bonds has been a good influence in Miami, and McGwire in St Louis etc. Once A-Rod is officially 100% retired, I would take him 7 days a week as our hitting coach over the "home run or strike out" tendencies that Bruno is teaching.
  10. Yeah this year was rough for him, but last year he actually played pretty dang well.
  11. FWIW the Twins already have other guys on the 25 man roster who have been busted for PEDs
  12. I like A-Rod quite a bit, and think he is one of the best 5 or 6 players in the history of baseball. (Positional players) I wouldn't mind picking him up once rosters expand to 40, but I wouldn't want him taking any at bats from guys like Vargas, Rosario, Sano or even Park if Park is brought back up? Basically, I would rather have A-Rod on this team then Plouffe at this stage. I would be interested to see how A-Rod could "mentor" some of the guys. But under no scenario should he be playing every day for the Twins, or even 3-4 times a week, maybe one or two PH spots for them and a start at DH every other week?
  13. I won't recognize the summer olympics until they include NASCAR
  14. Just DFA him, what is the point in DLing him? He isn't coming back next year.
  15. McCain has come out hard against trump, however if he comes out and says he will vote for Hillary then it would probably cost him his sentate seat. The senate needs guys like McCain, so I don't mind him doing the "political" thing in this case.
  16. The Astros are in the playoff hunt and Gomez is going to be a FA at the end of this year. They are making their decision based on what is best for this team as of today to make the playoffs in 2016, that's literally it. People are reading way to much into this.
  17. Twins should definitely bring him in for 2017. He is the perfect plan B if Buxton still struggles. Best case is both kick ass and they can dump Gomez at the deadline or prior.
  18. Trump doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt at this point.
  19. A-Rod was a scapegoat, it's widely reported that more than 30% of players were juicing in those days.
  20. Not sure if serious.
  21. Indiana and Missouri are virtual locks for the GOP this year.
  22. Just did, trump is at 16.6% I would screenshot it if I weren't on a phone
  23. A Rod had fallen off a cliff this year, it may have taken another 200 at bats for him to get 700, Yanks are finally rebuilding, they Ned guys like Sanchez to get those at bats. A-Rod unquestionably was unlikable and a jerk at times, but he also is one of the top 3 players I ever saw play, right with Bonds and Pedro IMO. I could care less about the roids, everybody was juicing and MLB made Bonds and A Rod the scapegoats because they weren't as like able. I think A Rod will make a helluva hitting coach and then potentially a front office guy or manager moving forward. Gonna go try to see one of his last games this week.
  24. If you want to see why the GOP party is in big trouble moving forward, look no further then this headline: Marco Rubio: women with Zika should not be allowed abortions
  25. Trump won't lose more than anyone in history. Oklahoma, South Dakota, Montana, Nebraska surely won't go blue. Funny enough I lived in 3 of those states :-/
