  1. He would be great as a president of baseball operations. If you are going to fault him for the Dickey trade, then you need to crown him for the Donaldson trade and maybe even for Bautista? With aggressive GM's you are going to "win some" and you are going to "lose some", give me someone who isn't afraid to pull the trigger over the Twins strategy any day of the week. Bad trades happen, I mean Brain Sabean seemed to overcome the AJ trade, and that might have been the most lopsided trade in the past 30 years.
  2. -Buxton needs to be out of the 9 spot, he needs as many MLB at bats as he can get at this stage. -Dozier needs to be moved down in the lineup, if he is going to be a 40 HR guy moving forward, we need him hittnig plenty of 2 and 3 run bombs. Here is what I would go with: Buxton Mauer Dozier Sano Kepler Rosario Plouffe Whoeever Whoever Thoughts?
  3. Honestly, what I hope for is the following: Sano+Dozier+Buxton+Kepler+Rosasrio+Mauer+Vargas+Murphy all hitting well in Sept. Guys with futures here: Santana+Gibson+Berrios all pitching well as well. But the rest of the guys that have no future here or are replacement level players? I hope they fail, and fail big time. It's nothing personal, just the more losses the Twins have at the end of the year, the more likely it is that they actually go out and change the status quo completely, by that I mean: No more Molitor No more Bruno No more Allen No more Dave St Peter playing puppet master or having ANY say on the on field product/front office team. Basically, I want Buxton, Sano, Dozier to hit 5 HR a game, Berrios/Santana/Gibson giving us quality starts, but having the bullpen blow it each game and the Twins lose every game 13-12, and they finish with the number 1 draft pick by a good 5 or 6 games. The absolute worst thing that could happen is the Twins win 15 of their last 20 or something somehow convincing the current ownership group to keep their demand of "keeping Molly on board" on.
  4. The beauty is, you don't even have to pull out all the stops, you just need to make one or two moves, while still not destroying the future. The Vikings still have 5 picks in the first four rounds next year anyways. Speilman is a great GM, he knows when to rebuild (stockpile picks etc) and then knows when to pull the trigger.
  5. Exactly, 2015 would be applicable as well. Would we really be missing Meyer+Rosario+Walker+one more if we had Hamels or Cueto right now?
  6. I know this is in jest, but still this one doesn't sit right with me. It's not like anyone was bashing any individual player, coach, personality or front office person. It was coming up with one word to describe the 2016 Twins as a whole. I really don't see the harm or the issue. Are you guys that worried that somehow it's going to hurt someone's feelings or something? If the thread was: one word to describe the Paul Molitor experiment, I could sort of see a deletion if it's getting out of hand/personal, but in this case? Censorship to the max. You guys should reconsider and open it back up. We don't want it to be like this: http://i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/000/731/143/3e3.jpg
  7. I'm sorry, this line of thinking is just absurd. Dozier is a 6+ WAR player, those type of guys are not expendable. That's like saying Buxton is expendable because Rosario can play CF or something.
  8. Dozier is going to be a 6+ WAR player this year (already is) So if you are going to trade him for a pitcher you need a guy who you will have for at least 3 years, and you can count on at least 4.5 WAR out of each year. Let's look at some teams in win now (2017) mode who could use Dozier: Yankees: Tanaka is their only worthwhile pitcher and he can opt out after next year. I would be interested in Sanchez, but he is doing NOWHERE. Mets: DeGrom or Noah would be awesome. But that ain't happening. Giants: Doubt they trade Cueto. etc
  9. Give me 3-4 good years and 1-2 bad years over whatever the hell Pelfrey and Nolasco gave us.
  10. Put May back in the rotation, buy low on a guy like Miller. Trade Rosario+ more for another good arm. Berrios should come around.
  11. Exactly, I really wanted the Twins to bring him in not only as a FA this year, but trade for him LAST year when they were in the playoff hunt. Or Hamels...both of those would have worked out quite well.
  12. I was calling for them to sign Cueto.....would have worked out quite well, no?
  13. I would look at an extension for Dozier this off-season as well. You don't "luck" into this type of power, Dozier had almost zero power coming through the minors and has been steadily improving on his HR numbers each of the last 4 seasons, he is only 29, so the power should last another 4 years before it starts to decline slowly. I would work on extending him for an extra 2-3 years, the Twins have some leverage as well since he will be underpaid the next two years, so you could get him on a team friendly deal. Dozier already has 6.1 WAR (bref) he could end up a 7 WAR player, that's insane! The last two players the Twins had with 6+ WAR in a season was Joe Mauer 2009, and Johan Santana a few times. These are the type of guys you build around, not trade! As mentioned: Dozier, Kepler, Sano and Berrios are the core moving fwd at this stage IMO.
  14. Lol Polanco will never sniff the numbers dozier put up this year
  15. I'm not really interested in any more middle of the rotation guys, if we can get a Johnny Cueto or better type, by all means trade dozier for them. Anyone else? No thanks, let's hold onto our infielder with 40+ HR power.
  16. I wouldn't trade dozier unless they were able to get a legit ace back in the trade, since that is highly unlikely id rather they hold onto Dozier. Dozier, Sano, Kepler, Buxton, Berrios appear to be the start to a very nice core moving forward. Everyone else is a 110% expendable though.
  17. I like Kaepernick quite a bit and I think he could be better than Bradford. But Bradford IMO is the clear better fit for this offense at this time.
  18. Lulz this thread.
  19. For all the talk of Torii, it should be noted he was a replacement level player last year, and even with his clubhouse influence the Twins still managed to be only the 8th best team in a 15 team league.
  20. Santiago is worse. They easily could have just cut (or traded) Nolasco after this season anyways. It was stupid as all hell to give up an asset to "get rid" of Nolasco, it makes no sense for a rebuilding team like the Twins to do that garbage. They would have been better served giving up a guy like Grossman in the trade then a guy like Meyer who could have been a part of the future.
  21. I actually called this loss. Houston is a damn good team and the Sooners are lazy when it comes to games like this (likely were looking past Houston to Ohio State) I told my buddy in Vegas for a bachelor party that he bet Houston to win the game 5:1 odds, needless to say he owes me a few beers now. Big 12 is weak overall just like last year, OU is gonna get steamrolled by Ohio State in Two weeks. Honestly, I'm not even the least bit upset, they need to fire Mike Stoops one of these years, this might as well be the year that they underachieve by a solid mark. I see Oklahoma as a 15-25 rank type team, probably will win the weak ass big 12, but will lose one conference game at some point. OU desperately needs to get out of the big 12, they are Texas should goto the SEC. Let the rest of the pieces fall where they may.
  22. I mean he has the size and the stuff to make it as a starter, I think if he somehow fails at that he can become a very awesome 8th/9th inning guy. Either way, dumb to include him in that trade.
  23. Not sure if serious... But I like the move, Bradford has never had any real talent around him, I'm anxious to see how well he does with a killer running game, and a decent corp of WR. The Vikings WR are hardly world beaters, but they look like Moss-Carter-Reed when compared to the garbage he was throwing at in STL.
  24. It's absurd how poorly the Twins handled him. For his sake, I hope he performs well, he deserves a legit shot. Something the Twins in the midst of their 500 losses over 5 seasons couldn't find somehow....
