    By my count 15-14 vs. the NL.

    I am as sick of watching Joey Gallo strike out as everyone else, but I am highly skeptical of AAA breakouts like Williams, Prato and Stevenson (BTW Williams hit 9th in St. Paul's lineup yesterday). I do believe the Twins should have made moves that would lead to a Gallo DFA, and that is a lot more than claiming Jordan Luplow. It is about three and a half weeks until September 1st and there appear to be 40-man roster issues on that horizon. Adding Williams or Prato only add to that issue and I don't think they make the club any better.

    What I saw was that Julien tried to catch the ball and then swipe at the sliding runner. The ball went off the end of his glove and he should have kept it in the infield. Misplay by Julien? Absolutely (IMHO), but that alone doesn't make him a latter-day Nishioka.

    I believe 2022 was the first year they awarded a Gold Glove for a utility player (Arraez was a candidate, but LeMahieu won). I really believe Castro has a chance to win. He’s certainly played all over, committed few errors and made some highlight reel plays.

    In most respects, the Twins stole one today. They didn't let the Diamondbacks break the game open and in fact stranded a whole bunch of runners in scoring position. Big hits from Correa, Kepler and Wallner and a lot of good defensive plays. I commented in the game thread that Willi Castro should win a Gold Glove as a utility player. I hope he's at least considered.

    I just looked at the box score and they gave the error to Vázquez!

    Keuchel's outing had me going back to 1987. Getting just enough out of a starting pitcher to be in range to win late. He pitched the way a lot of soft-tossing lefties have pitched for years, changed speeds, kept the ball off the barrel of the bat and the ball out of the middle of the strike zone. The Twins were fortunate that all of the stolen bases didn't hurt them and that Arizona came close to o-fer with runners in scoring position.

    Crazy game. Hard hit balls for outs, Lots of squibbers for hits.

    For a big man, Wallner can motor. That reminds me of Rochester native Michael Restovich. Wallner looks like he might be a better hitter (I hope).

    It would be nice to have a stolen base threat to run for Solano. Castro and Taylor are both in the game.

    Good hitting by Gurriel. Issuing a walk to a 90% base stealer was the no-no. Obviously, I'd still rather see a better pitcher than Pagán in the seventh.

    Emilio Pagán with a one-run lead in the seventh. It is now that I wish the team had fortified the bullpen.

    Yeah, Correa having a lousy season and I wouldn't even call his offensive performance mediocre at the plate and perhaps the manager should bat him lower in the order. I guess I don't like to kick a player when they're down and I want the team to win. He's been the only constant in the infield and has continued to be a fine defensive infielder. He's going to be on the roster for the next five years. I really hope this is an off year and not a premature decline. A lot has been hard to watch.

    Keuchel tiptoed at the edge of disaster for five innings. I guess I wouldn't tempt fate and send him out there for the sixth if I were the manager. Felt like an outing from Bundy or Archer last year.

    So far, Keuchel is as advertised. Jamie Moyer and Tommy John are calling their agents--sign me up.

    Julien did all he could on the slow roller. Castro's feed was a little low on the possible 5-4-3. I'm not blaming him for lost outs so far.
