    Well sure, but there is also cultural evolution which has given things like beer, dogs, cities, statistics, and sending robots to Mars. And baseball. We do our best work when we can get past the limitations of the biological firmware, not be constrained by it.

    Having said that, I do think before we worry about genetically engineering the species, it would be a good start for people to get a little better control of their own behavior first.

    You want sexist? Take a stroll through the game thread archive. Some of this stuff is so ingrained in our culture we do it practically as a reflex. And I suppose my answer to the question of the thread; those two things are not mutually exclusive, and they never have been. Maybe things will change after the zombie apocalypse.

    Agree 100%. That's going to be a really interesting choice. Have already heard Morris and Viola mentioned more than once, although not by anyone involved in the decision-making, of course.

    What I saw of Joe Mauer this year suggested a guy who was completely shut down from August until February getting a handle on the concussion effects. I'm willing to reserve judgment until after he's had a full offseason workout routine behind him; i.e., starting now.

    I now think it will be Molitor for two or three seasons while Mientkiewicz goes to Charlotte for more seasoning, and succeeds him. I don't think Jake Mauer will really be an option until Joe retires, at which point he becomes Jake's hitting coach. Just my feeling...
