  1. Leadership? Dombrowski phrased it as delicately as he could, when he stated that his manager told him removing Ramirez wouldn't harm clubhouse chemistry.
  2. Effective versus ineffective is not a binary switch. There are degrees. Those degrees may improve your team.
  3. That's what I was saying. Bunt, until the pitchers change their approach. Good pitches to hit are not necessarily good pitches to bunt, and vice versa. Mix it up a little, or a lot at first, and thereby get a better selection of pitches to swing at in the long run. A troublesome pitch low in the strike zone can make for a dandy drag bunt; pitchers will stop feeding him a steady diet of those if he makes them pay. He needs to stop trying to be the hitter he eventually may be, and start doing the things that put pressure on the other team and win ballgames.
  4. It's a good principle to get your AAA pitchers from the PCL (they'll be undervalued) and your hitters from the IL (ditto). There are similar guidelines for AA and below, too (don't get your hopes up on a Texas League hitter, or a Florida State League pitcher). Of course, front offices are smarter about this by now; and there's a ton more art to it than I know how to describe. But, still. Carter's off to a good start with our 'Wings, but I'd let the sauce simmer a bit longer, too.
  5. Ben followed a two-hit game yesterday, against Kane County, with a 3-for-3 performance tonight versus Clinton. He scored a run and drove in a run, with one of his hits being a triple to left, and he also walked once. All this raises his season batting average to .263. Keep it up!
  6. Another plagiarism job from me, this time cribbing Seth's minor league wrapup, but due more to a lack of desire to invest time in bad news versus Buffalo than sheer laziness: "He was due for a rough one, and on Friday night, Aaron Slegers had a rough one. He came into the game with a shiny 1.97 ERA through his first eight starts. After giving up nine runs on 11 hits over just 4 2/3 innings on Friday night, his season ERA jumped to 3.27."
  7. I meant to post something, the past day or so, that it wouldn't be surprising to have Stassi request his release so that he can latch on with another organization where he'd have a better shot. Carter was the handwriting on the wall.
  8. Interesting. I've heard nothing but good things about Ben's defense, so this is something that at minimum needs cleaning up.
  9. I clicked Like on this, even though I disagree with the sentiment, in hopes you get hooked.
  10. Seems like a good move, to try to aid his growth as a starting pitcher. Even if the outcome is bad tonight, it moves him forward a bit.
  11. Certainly simplifies the viewing process. Guess I can turn off the game and decide by reading tomorrow's box score.
  12. I usually avoid crippled operating systems for anything but simple web browsing. On my phone at least, when I am in an editing pane, locating the "Full Version" red button near the bottom of the page takes me to the interface where I can see "Attach Files" etc. I don't know how to get out of Full Version after I do this, though.
  13. They're wearing white or orange before Memorial Day. A cardinal fashion sin.
  14. If the photos are on your hard drive, click "More Reply Options" next to the Post button, and if you then scroll down a ways you'll see "Attach Files". Use "Browse", then "Attach This File", and finally "Add to Post". If all goes well, you'll have success, like I did.
  15. "Dombrowski says Cora wasn’t concerned about messing with clubhouse chemistry. DD has confidence in Cora’s feel for it." https ://twitter.com/JMastrodonato/status/1000090728184369153 Sounds like the closest a front office can come to saying the clubhouse will be better off without him. Read a fuller context at the MLBTR page discussing the move.
  16. Just one of the many services I offer! BTW, the Panel would also have accepted "it was my understanding that there would be no math" as a reply.
  17. I tried explaining this legal detail when I visited this one place last week. The bouncer was roundly unimpressed. http://www.rollonfriday.com/Portals/0/Images/bouncer.jpg
  18. Chief's been a chiseler since time began, I am told.
  19. They went 4-7 last fall. Perhaps he lost a bet and the penalty was having to wear his own school's garb.
  20. You were replying to my response to Mike Sixel's question. Read Mike's question, and my response in that context, again.
