  1. This loss is on the Twins pitching staff.
  2. Quite possibly not. He can be DFA'ed to open a roster spot, assuming the FO sees it that way. In that case, they are on the hook for his remaining salary anyway. And so, it is no cost to them to instead offer to cover his salary if there are multiple candidate teams who would sign him for major league minimum after he's a free agent. So any possible trade value IMO will come from this approach, via a very, very minor bidding war while he can still be traded.
  3. Long shot. Very long. Wil Myers in 2013 had a similar candidacy and won, but in a year with weak competition. So, not impossible. A couple of other rookies would need to take a nose dive. And our guy mustn't do that. It all can happen. Two months to go. I'm not pulling out the ironic "so you're telling me there's a chance" meme at this point. It's better than one in a million.
  4. Moran faced 3 batters and the Mariners proceeded to score 9 runs. No team can come back from that from a reliever.
  5. Tonight's game should impress on the FO that they don't have the horses in the bullpen for a serious post-season run. Fortunately that is one of the most correctable flaws at any deadline.
  6. You're right about Moran's pitching line - I forgot he gave up the RBI double, thinking he walked the bases loaded. I would have respected Pagan's outing for inducing outs and giving up just the one additional run. Is the point of the disagreement that it has to be "on" just one person? The inning of crushed dreams was to me a joint effort.
  7. What a lousy outcome. That homer in the bottom of the ninth would have meant something if Ortega had put up a zero.
  8. Without Moran's contribution we still maintain the lead. Without Pagan's contribution we still maintain the lead. Bases loaded with no outs but a 4 run lead should not be an automatic tie game.
  9. I don't absolve Moran. But the lead was lost by Pagan.
  10. It's hard to weigh one versus the other tonight. Mariners gained 6 bases against Moran (first guy reached third, etc.). 10 bases were gained on Pagan's watch. So there's that. Both pitchers were culpable. And now we have Ortega to consider.
  11. Emilio wants me to convey his thanks for the jinx you placed on him tonight.
  12. Four runs scored. Moran faced three batters. Plenty of glory to share.
  13. Not for the top of the eighth in this game, just speaking for myself.
  14. Those young bucks in the picture are too wet behind the ears to know anything.
  15. I think you see the future, oh wise one!
  16. He hasn't been given quite the middle-of-the-lineup assignments that Duran for instance has. That matters.
