  1. Yeah they do. The guy you pencil into the lineup there keeps you from DHing the next worst fielder in your lineup. / kidding... or am I?
  2. And Koufax. Sandy Koufax was good too. / so long as we're talking about anyone but Trever May, and all...
  3. From Rochester's airport? I don't think you could infer much from his boarding a plane to Ohare or other hub. / edit - or Indianapolis, or whatever AAA city he happened to be in.
  4. I shouldn't try the deadpan stuff after y'all's bedtimes.
  5. Easily. The sun just went down in Oakland.
  6. Those in the know call that a "pickoff throw to second".
  7. A fair definition of insanity, eh?
  8. Not only that. You'll get more of those cookies when the other guys find out that pitching outside isn't so much of a win.
  9. Hope the ugly one doesn't read TD and come look you up.
  10. Priceless. Here's the thing I don't get. By sending him onto the field at a position, the White Sox lost the use of the DH for the remainder of the game. They risked having to pinch hit for him later, had they tied it up. Why would they take such a crazy chance on losing their best power hitter?
  11. I thought the problem with ads blasting us with sound was fixed, but just a moment ago I got one. A Champs sports products ad, with cannons blasting or some damn thing. Just about woke the neighbors, and I didn't have my speakers on that loud. (After posting this, I see I still don't have permission to view the image within the post. Is that still being investigated?)

  13. Oh well, can't win 'em all. Good night, everybody.
  14. Bill Smith made the call for the bunt from the executive suite.
  15. So all we need for a sniff at the playoffs is a 35-15 finish? Damn, now I'm mad they went into seller mode at the deadline.
  16. We waved the white flag when we traded our heart and soul, Fuld.
  17. It's practically a cliche by now, but how often do you see a guy make a stellar play in the field, and then come up to bat fourth the very next inning? Uncanny. / edit - Venable making the catch is my story and I'm sticking with it.
  18. The clever strategy behind giving up the leadoff HR in the 10th is that you're only behind by one run after that. Much better than diddling around and then giving up the grand slam.
  19. Had a vet appointment for a cat, then had to eat lunch. Tough out here in the Pacific time zone.
  20. Heck of a catch by Venable.
  21. Quackenbeard, looks more like to me.
