  1. Yeah, assuming Swanson and Rodgers are both gone who would be my #1 and #2 choices respectively. I think My Twins Big Board would be: A) Alex Bregman Dillon Tate C) Carson Fulmer D) Either Daz Cameron or Kyle Tucker obviously theres a chance that Tate, Fulmer, Swanson, Rodgers, and Bregman are all gone by the time the Twins are picking @ #6 so that would be my worst case scenerio. In that scenerio my choice would probably be Tyler Jay LHP (Illinois) over anyone else unless Kyle Tucker impresses the Twins brass heavily. I can't really see anyone else going to the Twins Buehler is nice, but not at #6 . Right?
  2. Nolasco is walking a tight rope, if the Pirates rock him today. MILLONE up, & Bye bye either Pelfrey or Nolasco. Ricky needs to earn his way up here, by owning AAA battles at least somewhat like Millone has done. Screw the $ 12 million per that you're paying Nolasco , its about what makes the Club a BETTER CLUB and that is TOMMY MILLONE not Ricky Nolasco.

  4. I think Hicks is likely to be the CF'er in 2016. Buxton doesn't seem to be ready for it. Obviously. maybe late in 2016.
  5. No way , not happeneing No way Buxton is up untill August or September , at the earliest.
  6. Also want to point out for Ft. Myers how well Alex Swim is doing..... iF YOU'RE SWIM You've got to be excited about the prospect of being our future Chris Herrmann type. you know maybe 3 years or so from now. a guy who can catch, and handle multiple other postions and flash a decent bat.
  7. I like Tate a lot now, trouble is Its a LOT of Helium and hype... and the rest of Baseball has surely caught onto him. Any chance he's available for the Twins to take Jeremy? If so Should they? Something i've noticed on Tate: -----> ................... Thats a high high leg kick, but i like how he pitches from the stretch, and AT WORST i see him as an MLB reliever. should be similar to Berrios in the minors. IMO <-----
  8. Danny Ortiz with a great game for Rochester 2-3 , BB , HR (1) ! He'd be a great 4th OF 'er one day for a team with 3 stud starters that are primarily RH. Oh wait we don't have that. ...............Free Oswaldo Arcia Free him! ...............
  9. Is Max Kepler hurt with the arm thing? ALso i'm really surprised both Walker and Harrison are in AA to start , i would of had one or the other in High A for the first month or so let them get comfortable then promote at hot streak time.
  10. I too, do not understand the Plouffe Comment. Just look at the Al Central. (which by the way should be the 3rd strongest of the 6 divisions in all of baseball) All the starting 3B in the AL central are frightingly similar, in terms of war and production. Castellanos probably has the most upside, and Mike Moustakas should hitt the most homers. But besides a few small things, its like splitting hairs between all 5 of them Chisenhall, Gillespie , Moustakas, Castellanos and Plouffe. you could rank them from 1-5 in almost any order.
  11. *** ^ I only say this because he has not pitched a single professional Inning with the Twins yet. As soon as he pitches that first regular season game, then its all on you as an organization. Man I really hope the Twins Front Office has some sort of running dialogue with the MLB or MLB PA to try to explore every possible angle. I'm Not even mad about the player, i'm more mad about the Money and the loss of the Draft pick.
  12. There should be some form of rule, that allows the Twins to Void the entire contract. Because they had no clue Santana was on Steroids. Essentially, MLB should allow the Twins to RIP up said Contract and Effectively Making Ervin a Free Agent immediately.
  13. If you were real fans, you'd know one of Millone or Pelfrey will be traded as soon as possible once they show they have actual value........If* may or meyer or whoever is actually ready. Getting a grossman type for one of those pitchers IS entirely logical for BOTH Sides. IF i was gm i'd flip danny santana for Micah Johnson sell off Dozier and A.B. Walker and Jose Berrios for chris carter and Carlos Correa and go watch the AA team play.... if i was reading what the heck you guys were all saying. **
  14. People for GOD sakes quit acting all shocked Pelfrey is the guy replacing Santana! Really? Who'd you think it was going to be...? Jose, Alex or Trevor are not ready. (may because of the flu) I hope Pelf has close to a career year also, to shut you ppl up...are you even real twins fans?
  15. Is it entirely possible than Ervin will make 14 million dollars this season? That is ridiculous. Also the fact the Twins lose their 2nd round pick this year.... Is also ridiculous. And the Fact the Braves pick up like the 33rd or 34th overall pick is even More Ridiculous yet.
  16. Why are soo many of you guys acting "suprised" that Milone won the 5th starter job? 4 RH starters and 1 LH and 2 RH vying for the 5th spot.....if the lefty floated above water and showed he can throw strikes.....was their any doubt the Twins would not choose him? Ever since the Twins chose Hicks in 2013 To start in CF for the Big League Club out of Spring training; When I was CLAIMING not to do so... All these "other" decisions seem so un-important to me. Who really cares? As pelfrey stated We'll {it'll} work itself out. Rosario and one of Meyer or May will be up by the end of May anyway...
  17. Great Deal for him, and The Twins; Love the deal. Only thing i was hoping to see was a team option at $10-12 Million for 2019. *and maybe a player option at 14-15$ Million for 2020. with small buyouts possilbe in each case. I really don't see Dozier regressing much at all (way more sure than Danny Santana) and I also Know this gives the Twins' FO cost certainty for those seasons, for what its worth. Dozier could actually get a little better.
  18. yeah Parker , Nice Article. Regression is coming, 100% its coming for Danny Santana the young man is not Rod Carew. There is a small chance he hits . 300 or greater over a full season this year. He's going to be worse, much worse. The Question is ...Will he be good enough to be the everyday Short-Stop for a .~.475-.500 ballclub? I think he can be, particularly if Escobar is getting at bats at 3B/ DH and 2B and ocasionally SS on a semi-regular basis. Santana will make errors, and thats fine, its part of the growing cycle. He needs to be a .265-.275 hitter for a whole season , that will be tough very tough and he needs to increase his BB% rate to keep a respectible OB %. I have some doubts , but ultimately i'm confident in the young player.....his athleticsm alone can get him hits that otherwise might not have been. " the strenght" Aspect of his game - I don't really see what TR is talking about there ALL his homers he extened way out on made contact with the ball way out in front of the plate, He used his lower half and his athleticsm to hit those balls out last year. I don't think he gets anymore than 6 or 7 HR's this year. IF he gets to 12 or 15 its b/c he's taking chances or seeing the ball like a beachball, again, much like most of last year. I hope he can do it, but don't see the power from him really being there. if Santana has a ~ .268/334/390 line with aprrx. 7 or 8 HR's i'd be happy with that. His biggest weapon should probably be his Stolen Base Marks.
  19. Fair enough, Essentially i'm making a different point then, i suppose Hindsight is easy. Interesting article nontheless though Kyle Fun to think about, as i admit i have not thought about it before to this extent.
  20. At this point , though, I'd seriously be looking At Rafael Soriano to pitch in the 8th and maybe sometimes 7th or 9th innings. on a 1 year deal for $4.5-6.0 Million His slider left him last year, but if he can find it again he's a servicable reliever , up in age, but with his slider even somewhat effective immediately or 2nd best reliever. It provides some securty for guys like Fien and Duensing so they don't have to be sooo strained and can allow Duesning to face 80-90% LH batters instead of 50-50 or 60-40
  21. My inside track on the 7 members of the 'pen 1) Perkins (Fien 2nd option) 2) Fien (Meyer 2nd option) 3) Duensing (Thielbar 2nd option) 4) Tonkin (want to see him pick up some K's) 5) Stauffer ( Pressly 2nd option) 6) Hamburger or Aaron Thompson (as of now, i think its between these 2) 7) Pelfrey (assuming Milone or May wins the 5th starter Job) that leaves one HECK of a bullpen down in AAA: Oliveros, Achter, Pressly, Thielbar, Pryor, & O"Rourke or Salcedo rotation: May or Meyer , Darnell , Hamburger or Wimmers, Wheeler , Rogers (I think Duffey in AA with Berrios to start) ITs early yet.
  22. Whats funny about this.... Is if the Twins had Mark Prior Johan Santana probably never even gets a shot to start in the Majors for The Twins or at least not untill probably late '03 - or 2004. So in realitly, this point refutes you're point. And no the Twins should have drafted Joe Mauer and made the right decision.
  23. I think trading Trevor Plouffe is a bad idea, somewhat based on my assumption that we won't get great value for him. If Dozier is extended for 40-50 million. And we Trade Plouffe away within the next 12 months on the cheap. I think it would be a mistake. 2 and 3 years from now theres a more than decent chance, regardless of position...that plouffe still Plouffe > Dozier > Nunez, Escobar , Rosario , and pretty much all of our OF'ers besides Buxton I mean Sano, Buxton and Polanco would be the only guys i think are ahead of Plouffe come 2017-2018. As far as postional guys go. (I guess maybe Mauer as well) Arcia could look like a young budding star by this time next year, or a guy who may need to sit in AAA and figure things out if he expects to ever make a real impact. At least we essentially know what we're getting with Plouffe. Arcia and many of the others we do not yet.
  24. Its definately a concern for me, I mean at some point with-in the next 2-3 years he'll have to change his diet. Because when you hit you're mid or upper 20's you're metabolism starts to slow down and then again when ur in ur low 30's a significant amount. I'm starting to feel if we get 2-3 decent years of 3B out of Sano we'll have to take it and run with it. I'd be happy with that. I like Plouffe in Left next year , Arcia back in RF. in 2017 I'm not sure where Sano will be, honestly.
  25. I was impressed by May in September much more than in August. As others have pointed out he needs to pitch better, a lot better, from the stretch. I'm only giving may about a 33% chance to open yr in the MLB rotation. .. but if he doesn't make that; its still very possilbe he starts year out in bullpen. So he can work on coming into games with a runner on first, and one out in the 6th or 7th inning. Would almost be good for his development at this point, the littttttle bit of time he has left. I personally see 0% chance for guys like Boyer, Achter, Oliveros, Pryor, Graham, Darnell, and even a marginal chance for Pressly and Tonkin.
