  1. I have a half season ticket plan. If I ever buy other games, like opening day, I pay the extra money to have real tickets mailed to me instead of the "print-at-home" option. I have an 18 month old son, and when he grows up, I want to show him the ticket stub from his first game, among other games that he has gone to.
  2. Total semantics, but TR had throat cancer (squamous cell can be skin or otherwise). it doesnt really matter, but it was more of a battle than just skin cancer.
  3. I agree with all of the above. but I have a question for you Easy, how did you become a Twins fan?
  4. Cody, where did you stay? and how far from the stadium did you go? I lived in omaha for 4 years, and other than the 2 weeks for the CWS, that area is pretty dead (although it has changed since I moved I'm sure). Omaha is so spread out with not much to do other than the zoo and the CWS. Just wondering what your thoughts on the town are.
  5. Hey, Leicester City had worse odds!
  6. I feel bad for Perk, I always liked him, but I'm afraid he might be done for good. crappy way to go out, if thats what happens. On another note, it seems like every aspect of the Twins organization is catching flack, maybe except for the medical staff. They need much, much more criticism. It seems like there are a lot of injuries that get misdiagnosed and then turn out to be much worse than initially thought. I get that medicine is an inexact science (I'm a physician myself) but this is ridiculous Maybe other teams have this happen too, I dont follow them closely enough to know, but it does seem like the medical staff for the Twins misses an awful lot.
  7. As someone who lived in KC for 3 years, and even though I had MLB.tv to watch the Twins, when they played KC I had to listen to "Hud". He really is the worst, he and Hawk.
  8. 1) I ABSOLUTELY second Hot Indian. It is delicious, fairly afforable, and sticks with you. I get it everytime I am at a game, except for the home opener (I have to have a hot dog). 2) Not super close, but along the Green Line is Surly. great food, great beer, but not really close, but easy to get to TF. Freehouse is a few blocks away, and thats good too. 3) Again, not super close to TF, but affordable food and lots of choices: Midtown Global Market.
  9. Nice work. but it took me 2 hours to read it since I stood up and applauded after each sentence.
  10. 2007, My future (at that time) in-laws had come up from Iowa for the groundbreaking ceremony for TF, but due to the 35W bridge collapse it was postponed, along with the game that night. I was moving to Omaha for school the next day, so we decided to go out for a nice dinner at the Capital Grill in downtown. While sitting and eating, I notice Torii Hunter and his family at the table next to us. I tell my wife, and when he gets up to leave, she goes over and asks him to come say hi to our nephew (9 at the time), who is a huge Twins fan. He was super nice, said hi, took pictures, etc. BUT then as he was leaving, my wife thanked him again, and he said no problem, then tapped her butt, like a ballplayer butt tap, nothing malicious about it. My wife comes back and says "Torii Hunter just tapped my butt!" That's my most memorable moment meeting a player.
  11. There doesnt need to be any more bars or any more "exclusive" areas, there are plenty of those at TF already. As a new parent, I agree that there should be something more family friendly, but I also want the focus of a ballpark to be on the game. I don't like how Kauffman has an entire area for kids (the Little K, mini golf, fountain park) where you cant see the game at all. This all just seems very unnecessary, and adding stuff for the sake of addition.
  12. Absolutely write a book! ps include a CD with some Starship on it too.
  13. These aren't things that are old for me, but tangents from comments. 1. a few years ago my wife and I came up with a FSNorth drinking game. We took a drink every time Bert said one of his cliches (at the major league level, CA HS math, SHE-cago, You are hereby circled, downward plane, etc). It can get bad fast. 2. managers wearing uniforms-heres an interesting article about that: http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/style-points/201507/why-baseball-managers-wear-uniforms-lasorda-showalter-mlb So to get to things that are old for me: God bless America, losing seasons (not this year!), Roy Smalley taking 3 innings to get to his point, and probably more, but I cant think of them.
  14. You forgot to add: #HotTake
  15. 1. Target Field (just a little biased) 2. Petco-I like that its built into the neighborhood 3. Fenway-history and the neighborhood feel 4. Wrigley (pre-2015 renovations)-kind of ****ty, but the history and Ivy make up for it 5. Comerica-cool design 6. Miller-good tailgating, and cool design 7. The Jake (progressive)-saw my first outdoor MLB game there, dont remember much else 8. Kauffman-other than the tailgating, nothing too special 9. Rangers ballpark in Arlington-middle of nowhere and too dman hot 10. Old Yankee-terrible place to actually watch the game, but the history was cool 11. Comiskey aka US Cellular-Sterile 12. RFK-not a baseball stadium 13. HHH Dome-self explanatory Places I want to go: 1. AT&T 2. PNC 3. Safeco 4. Nationals 5. Camden yard 6. Marlins-just to see that abomination in CF. 7. Chase-only because it used to be Bank One Ballpark or the BOB, and my name is Bob.
  16. Every time a prospect gets hurt: I bent my Wookie.http://exploregram.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/I-bent-my-wookie-from-Lisas-Rival.-Season-6-Episode-2.jpg
  17. I was at the game when they announced it. everyone got really quiet when they started "Attention ladies and gentlemen..." then as they continued, you could tell people started to realize what was about to be announced. When they finally stated Dozier was named to the ASG the place went nuts. My wife started to cry, which seems like an over-reaction, but whatever. It was a cool moment that was well-deserved and overdue.
  18. I could never give up watching/listening/going to Twins games for a championship. I enjoy that too much. I would take a decade of 90-100 losses for a championship. Bad baseball is still better than no baseball. ETA: I would also have my Twins tattoo scrapped off with a dull knife for a championship for which my family and I were in attendance.
  19. I always liked Griffey, until he robbed Lou Collins of that game winning HR in game 163...
  20. I think its 10, because thats when your scorecard gets all messed up by having one batter up twice in an inning. Its a stupid reason, but in my mind it makes sense.
  21. Im ok with Torii's comment for one reason, to quote Yogi: 90% of the game is half-mental. I want players to believe they are still at their peak, but at the same have some realization that adjustments need to be made. At the same time, I don't understand the need to insult those that use advanced stats.
  22. I think Marney Gellnar is what the FSN Girls 'should' be. Marney knows her stuff, seems to legitimately enjoy her job and the games she attends. Im usually not a huge fan of "sideline reporters", but there is absolutely no need for the FSN girls.
  23. Selig certainly is a tool. Seriously though, I agree with you. And Selig has done good things for the game (interleague play, 2 wildcards), but I will never forgive him for the contraction talks, even if Pohlad (who I will never forgive either) had more guilt in that.
  24. I just moved back to MN from KC. I was there for 3 years, so I got to see the MLS ASG, 2 USMNT WCQ, and an MLS Cup victory. SKC will always be my MLS team, even if MN gets one. Tottenham is my team because I went to a game at White Hart Lane in 2013 when Dempsey and Bale were on the team. It was awesome. I think there are some similarities between baseball and soccer, mainly neither game is the most fast-paced game, but there is a lot of strategy involved that can be missed by the uninitiated viewer.
