  1. Maybe he "accidentally" revealed the wrong lineup to the White Sox?
  2. A little bait-and-switch subterfuge by Chessmaster Gardenhire?
  3. Yeah, I mean, obvy. I'm just at a loss to explain how his defensive problems weren't a big enough issue in the minors to move him off shortstop at that time. We mentioned his arm - his ability to get to ground balls ain't very good either. Could be bad footwork, or bad instincts, or just plain bad range.
  4. Plouffe's arm makes Jacque Jones blush. And at least Jones was an outfielder so he couldn't do as much damage with it. I wonder how it was that Plouffe stuck at shortstop in the minors for so long. Was it just less pressure?
  5. He certainly had me flummoxed with his use of Escobar as a pinch-hitter. I don't know if Gardy plays chess or not, but if he does I suspect he'd give Kasparov a run for his money.
  6. It was a win-now trade, but it was still misguided. The Twins were overrating Capps. When fans say they want Ryan to make a trade to win now, they mean trade for a difference maker to put them over the top. Capps was never that kind of player.
  7. Yes. Ramos has been hurt a lot, but they're mostly freak injuries, not chronic injuries. It's unfortunate for him and the Nats but nothing that could have been predicted. David Ortiz had this same injury and he's turned out OK. The Twins had Matt Capps already in Jon Rauch, and they didn't realize it because Capps had a few Saves on his record. I just don't like the idea of trading position players for non-elite relievers.
  8. It's probably not necessary anymore. He hasn't been the same since he split with Kix Brooks.
  9. This is an indictment on Florimon. If he's such a terrible hitter that he needs to be sac bunting in the third... and then is pinch-hit for by Escobar... he shouldn't be in the lineup at all.
  10. At these prices, you better hope she doesn't say no! And ladies, bit of advice, let him down once the camera is off you. He should have been more creative and less public than that...
  11. Bert's so committed to it that I'm starting to think that it is pronounced Zobrith, and his jersey, the media guide, and his ID just have typos.
  12. I like Hawk as another market's TV analyst because he's such a clown show. If I was a White Sox fan I'd probably hate it.
  13. It's really cool how Adam Eaton was able to reinvent himself as an outfielder after an unspectacular pitching career. Good for him.
  14. Florimon's really more of a classic Gardenhire #2 hitter. Very Casilla-like.
  15. It makes me feel a little better that it wasn't Gardy's creation... but it makes me feel worse that he's not the only person who comes up with terrible nicknames.
  16. "You take Joe out from behind the plate you’re open up a big hole so filling it with Zuke is pretty good." Zuke? *facepalm*
  17. I'm concerned that Mauer won't be able to play an adequate 1B.
  18. I have now... and it's fixed. Thanks Brother.
  19. The link tabs at the top are displaying vertically instead of horizontally, and are behind the photo rotator.
  20. Formatting is all screwed up in Firefox.
  21. Yeah, in the same trade that brought them Duke Welker.
  22. A little surprised by this. Does this mean Bartlett made the team? Not a big loss on Presley, though.
  23. I don't think we're disagreeing about the same thing. Castro and Batista were never major free agent acquisitions. They were fliers on journeyman players with a hope and a prayer that they'd make an impact. If the Twins would have signed better players than them, I'd have no problem with keeping Bartlett in the minors and Punto on the bench.
  24. If this is true, I disagree with the approach. If a prospect comes up that's blocked by a free agent acquisition, you make a trade. Maybe you don't get the value you're looking for in the trade, but in the meantime it makes a better team.
  25. I'm of the belief that whether or not the team has a chance to win it all is a bigger factor in a free agent's decision than whether or not there's a prospect that may supplant them.
