  1. I'd call up Parmelee now. I get that it makes some tough roster decisions, but that's a bridge you can cross later. By the time that decision needs to be made, someone else is likely to be injured. Who knows how long Hicks will be out? Or Willingham? Or maybe Mauer goes from day-to-day to DL?
  2. I'm sure Chris Herrmann is a great guy, but shouldn't there be another (real) outfielder on the roster by now? Pinto's not even DHing and Herrmann is still out there.
  3. Something has to be done about Herrmann. It's pathetic that he's starting as a corner outfielder on a team with a short bench and an extra pitcher. He hasn't caught an inning yet. If he's not going to catch, he's wasted space. If Gardy's so worried about losing his DH for a few innings, stop DHing Pinto. It's not like he's on fire anymore. I'm concerned that Pinto is going to have to be demoted or injured to stop the three-catcher insanity.
  4. I take it Gardy isn't as cautious about giving Suzuki time off as he was with Mauer.
  5. I'm hoping that the plan was to send Florimon down, stick Escobar at short and use Nunez as the backup infielder, and that plan was derailed by Nunez's injury. Even so, it still seems to me like Florimon is playing too much. If they don't want him playing any other positions than short, they can still figure out something if there's an emergency and Florimon is the only infielder on the bench.
  6. With Florimon tanking and Nunez hurt/bad at shortstop, the Twins need to give Escobar an extended look. I'm disappointed they haven't had him play more than he has. None of this is to say that Escobar is the answer to the question.
  7. And it also allows him to play Herrmann, who is maybe a marginal hitter for a backup catcher, occasionally as a starting corner outfielder. The system works.
  8. I thought Herrmann was an outfielder?
  9. Herrmann starting in left field makes me sad.
  10. Wow... surprising that Pelf's mom didn't give him a vote of confidence.
  11. Move Dozier back to shortstop? It could work I guess. He's done it before. It's not the Twins MO to do something like that, especially not to accommodate a rookie. Bold prediction on the subject - if Plouffe continues to play well all season, the Twins will sign him to a contract and move Sano to a different position.
  12. This is why they should have traded Correia in the offseason. If a team is looking for a back-end innings eater type, those kinds of guys are much more valuable at the beginning of the season than in the middle. Not to mention that Correia was a prime candidate for regression.
  13. Just to clarify - I'm not against Pinto DHing per se, just against him DHing as much as he has been. There's a benefit to keeping him in the lineup when Suzuki is catching, but there's also a benefit to not having Colabello stumbling around right field.
  14. Yep... despite Gardy's worst fears of losing his DH, Herrmann hasn't done anything except play corner outfield and come in as a defensive replacement there (!). Now with Fuld on the team there's really no reason to have one of those. I know that Gardy wants to keep Pinto in the lineup, and so do I, but if he's not catching he shouldn't be DHing either. There's plenty of other guys on the team (Kubel, Arcia, and Colabello) that should be seeing more time at DH anyway.
  15. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out... just send down corner outfielder Chris Herrmann.
  16. Brilliant Gameday Robot commentary that you wouldn't get from a live person: SCOUT: Juan Carlos Oviedo may prefer to go after Joe Mauer, whose OPS is .666 this season, with the changeup rather than facing Brian Dozier, whose OPS is .790.
  17. Is it politically incorrect to yell out "you betcha" when Joe Mauer drives in a run? That will be important to know if it ever happens. Zing!
  18. Did you hear how Gardenhire gushed over the guy? http://www.twincities.com/News/ci_25604391/Twins:-Gardenhire-eager-to-get-new Fuld could be the next Nick Punto.
  19. This correlation of platoon statistics does not imply casuality, post hoc ergo propter hoc. Florimon has obviously become a lefty masher and Gardenhire is way too smart to platoon "the right way".
  20. It's kind of a weird phenomenon. I'm not sure I quite understand it myself, but I think it means that Florimon starts against Erik Bedard and David Price, while Escobar starts against Yordano Ventura and Jake Odorizzi.
  21. It looks like Gardy is doing a left/right platoon with Florimon and Escobar. If only there were fewer left-handed starters.
  22. So we won't get to see Bautista back in CF when the Twins go to Rogers Centre?
  23. Wow, if that sign's still up I need to head there and load up on cornbread and mashed potatoes... as long as they don't have meat in them. Then we'll see who's "hahaha-ing". Upon further inspection, this place doesn't have mashed potatoes... I'll have to get the cole slaw instead.
  24. I'll have the barbecued bicycle seat as long as it's vinyl polymer and not natural leather.
