  1. Simmons. He has a lot to prove and teams aren't going to be willing to give him the $$$ he wants. Plus, he can mentor our young prospects as they come up this next year. He may not hit, but that has never been his strong suit. That is not why we signed him. He has the best glove in the league.
  2. Thank you! You said it much better than I could. There is NO reason the '22 Twins can't compete. Our Lineup is too stacked. We just need average pitching and our above average lineup will carry us to contention. Then as we develop the pitching and supplement our lineup with young cheap talent, watch out WS!
  3. "Tough to imagine the Twins contending in 2022"! Give me a break. You guys are all so doom and gloom. The Twins should and will contend in '22. Our lineup is too good to not contend. Just need a little help with our pitching. I will say, '23 should be the year we really put it together, but no reason to think we can't contend next year. We should have contended this year, were it not for a fluke of everything that could go wrong going wrong.
  4. I am starting to get tired of all the panic and doom and gloom. The Twins should be a great team next year, once our front office fills some holes in the offseason and we stop getting hurt. Stop advocating for trading Arraez, Berrios, Kepler, or Buxton. That is extremely short sighted!
  5. We are essentially still undefeated. All our losses have essentially been the MLB equivalent of overtime. What I would like to see is move the runner on 2nd base rule to start after the 11th inning. Let the boys play it out for 2 innings, but once you get past the 11th, then things get boring and long, so start adding dome spice with a runner on 2nd. Or maybe, start the 12th with a runner on first, the 13th with a runner on 2nd, and the 14th and beyond with a runner on 3rd.
  6. Let a guy try to make history, no matter what time of the season it is. Berrios has no injury history anyways to be worried about. And all that stuff about not pitching much last year, that should mean they have more in the tank this year right? When a starter is that locked in, you ride that horse till it drops.
  7. We will have to catch those games together. I'm only an hour from Indy!
  8. I call him Wielhouse! He can sure hit! He is just not your prototypical homerun power hitter, especially for a first baseman. But he can hit it hard on a line to the gaps.
  9. I am so glad Ian Hamilton cleared Waivers! That guy has some potential IMO. Also don't sleep on Zander Wiel. I saw him play at AA back in 2018. He can hit!
  10. Here's Hoping. Thorpe needs to put it all together again. We can't keep hanging on to him, Romero style
  11. I am honestly surprised that Hamilton was waivered. I really think there is some potential there. There must be something we don't know. I would hate to lose him and have Thorpe turn out to be a dud
  12. I am NOT a fan of runners starting on Second base. I am also VERY opposed to the idea of a universal DH. Keep baseball like it has always been Don't try to change the game to match the viewers. Try to help the viewers to better understand and appreciate the game. Invest time and money into youth baseball/softball programs. Get young kids excited about this Great American Game! One of the things so unique to baseball is that its two leagues have slightly different rules, yet they still find a way to work together and create something truly great. Such a wonderful metaphor for what we need now in our country. Instead of trying to force someone else to change to your view why don't we find a way to work together, despite our differences. I can understand adding runners on second if say the game reaches 13 innings. But before that let it play out. I wish they had never changed how the All Star Game winner determines homefield for the World Series. It made that game unique as it gave the players a reason to play hard. I hope they do not add any more teams to the postseason, do not shorten games, do not add a salary cap, and I hope they NEVER EVER add an automated strike zone. Baseball is a game of people, for people. Baseball should not be about the money. Baseball is about the people who play it and the people to watch it. It is a game I grew up with and would like to grow old with. It is a game I plan to pass on to my children and their children. I just hope it is the same Great Game I grew up with.
  13. And now we picked up another potentially really good cheap arm in Ian Hamilton
  14. I like the look of his mechanics. Very smooth. He seems to have good cutting movement on his fastballs too. He throws hard, but not flat and with smooth mechanics. This is the recipe for long term success.
  15. Great article! My dad is not as in to sports as I am so...
  16. Our Front Office is so calm cool and collected. They have a plan and the patience to wait for the perfect moment. And they seem to manage to hold on to most of our prospects too. We are basically swapping major league ready talent from an area of depth to an area of need.
  17. First Ballot. I'm not biased at all. Anywho, I think he has a lot of the off the field/character stuff that the old-timers want in HOF inductees. He was very charitable and did a lot for promoting the game as well. Plus, as you said, his stats at his prime are untouchable. (btw, this is my first comment since the loss. I guess I am finally over my end-of-season blues.)
  18. I do think our chances are much improved today. They used their best starters and they only have one good bullpen arm. We just need to get to their starter early, then have a lead late, so we don't see their closer.
  19. I am pretty sure Rocco threw this game so we can get the postseason losing record for all American sports. I think we have it in the bag now, so now we can win em all. I do think our chances are much improved today. They used their best starters and they only have one good bullpen arm. We just need to get to their starter early, then have a lead late, so we don't see their closer.
  20. Lets also root for those Sox to beat the Athletics. I want that matchup at Dodger Stadium. I am thinking that playing there will be nice for Maeda and Hill.
  21. Go get 'em kid! Bring it home for us!!!
  22. This man speaks truth!
