  1. I would hope a multi-million dollar organization would be a bit more selective in its hiring practices than guys that play sports well. Since when does a person not have to earn the right to even discuss the possibility that they might be qualified to work for someone else? Walking off of the baseball field as a guy that "understands" something is a hell of a lot different than being qualified to get paid a salary to do it for a professional basebal club. If they buy into this I have even less respect for this organization than I do already.
  2. I'm close to getting tired of hearing about Hunter already, and it's day 2 of Spring Training.
  3. I think TK is the one that was doing all of the teaching at Spring Training while Gardy was chatting it up with the coaches and "his guys." Gardy was not a hands on teacher like TK was, and Molitor seems to be. This was the downfall of the fundamental approach that this organization built it's reputation on, which TK was responsible for, and Gardy rode on. Regarding the OP, I think this is why Gardy isn't as likely to hand pick his next job as some might suggest.
  4. Leyland isn't in Detroit anymore. They replaced him last year.
  5. I think it's pretty fair to say Gardy lost control of this clubhouse, so I'm not sure you'd say that is a strength of his.
  6. I believe Gardy and Anderson were on the same timeline with the MLB pension. Their years of service combined with age were a big factor in their decisions. Does anybody know where they sit on this? Sure, Gardy has made good money, but Rick Anderson probably really isn't set, and would love to have that lifetime pension locked in at the highest possible rate. This is from a reliable source.
  7. Perhaps teaching Spanish is going to be Gardy's new role in the organization?
  8. Does this mean we'll get to watch Gardy laughing it up with the players during a losing season a little bit more next year during rain delays?
  9. Well, that pretty much ends the season for this team.
  10. Just take a crap load of treats and candy and it won't matter where you sit. I've sat in DB, LC, and 3rd level with my daughter since she was a baby and she loves going, but being close is meaningless to her. If you have to take the kid to the bathroom, I'd rather go into LC if I had to choose.
  11. Exactly what I am afraid of.
  12. Did anyone mention this team is terrible?
  13. Would we even be talking about Mijares if he hadn't been on this roster in the past?
  14. As long as he was on the 2010 team, I say he deserves a shot.
  15. I would have to say Hunter mis-playing that ball in the playoffs ranks up there.
  16. Now if this station can figure out how to carry a game with good pre and late post game we might have something.
  17. I love watching grown men that make good money act like idiots.
  18. What exactly do they need to hold a press conference for?
  19. This is the kind of serious move I think we all have been waiting for.
  20. He got this from Jock Ewing: Jock Ewing's Power - YouTube
  21. I hear Kubel is available. Let's just get the band back together from 2010. World Series!
  22. I'm late to this thread, but agree with Chief's suggestion, and thought the same thing before I read it here. The only other thing I think would be great would be a green light/red light signal in centerfield. Maybe even a yellow when calls are under review. If there is a close play, let the 5th umpire turn on the green light to confirm the call. It engages the fans and gives them the feedback we've all wanted but haven't gotten with replays not being shown in the park. Yellow light if under review, red light if the call is wrong. If no light, it's up to the home plate umpire, batter, and catcher to keep the game moving or suffer a slow play penalty under the current rules. A green light should mitigage that, though.
  23. What we are all waiting for Gardy to do is take a group of guys back out onto the field after a game and teach a class on missed fundamentals and give them a real learning experience. Tom Kellly kept his job when this team was horrible. We didn't mind because he did the above on a few occasions, right in front of the TV cameras.
  24. There goes any shot at the Playoffs.
