  1. You mean the position of the worst record in the AL
  2. As a high school draftee, Tonkin is up for Rule V draft this winter......will MN protect him right now?? Is it correct that he throws 95??? This is exactly why I get so upset about how slowly guys that perform are not promoted.
  3. 62 gms into the year & we're 25-37 with 100 to go. CHI is in first w/ 34-29 record... .540 winning percentage which leads to 88 wins. Mn needs to go 63-37 to reach 88 wins. Nobody in the majors is even playin at .630% right now. Can we please just enjoy the season & development of players than thinking there is ANY shot at contention??
  4. Oliveras up....Manship down or what the move should be is Gray DFAd but the front office doesnt have the balls Hendricks up.....Walters DL....or vice verse need Parmelee for NL gms next wk.
  5. Yes to both.....michaels im fine with where hes at.....these guys need to be challenged
  6. What i dislike are......he gets into a story bout old days, then doesnt finish & he is also so old school that he makes himself look foolish with todays stats/sabermetrics
  7. Evan, along with Angel Morales, are 2 players who prove you pretty much have to ignore ETown stats. Both showed immense power potential there , then both have been average minor leagers.
  8. Larry Anderson for A baller Jeff Bagwell was a pretty good one.
  9. Last yr Tyler Grimes & Adam Bryant were assigned to Beloit but now the higher college draft pick Adam Walker goes to ETown......really dont get their minor league thinking.
  10. The cynical side of me says the Twins front office is fine with it as it keeps Roasario (Sano also) @ Beloit all season, like they prefer to handle it. I also hate 'the butterfly effect' of it since if he was promoted to Ft Myers like his play has dictated....this doesnt happen.
  11. Oliveras' 5 er given up Monday hopefully doesnt hurt him too bad. Gardy said on Fri that Lester is probably the #1 reliever if they make a recall. Surprises me a tad he's ahead of both Guerra & Waldrop. Also stated that he watches Roc before/after gms to keep track of guys.
  12. when lookin thru the teams.....they were about the same rate after round 2. Teams rely extremely high on #1s & rarely find another prospect in drafts. If they bust the #1s.....they are in trouble. Makes ya wonder why they pay as much in bonus' to guys they know will not reach the majors.
  13. Nobody had him listed here so....... The organization has thought very highly of the hard throwing 23yr old (July 18 bday) 19th round 2008 pick & has touted him in the local media over the last 2 yrs. 2010 he was a starter @ Ft Myers 7-10 4.03 ERA (20gms 19 starts) with 106 K 48bb in 102.2IP (.215BAA) 2011 he was moved to pen, mainly as closer, with 2-4 record 4.53 ERA...45.2IP (.279BAA) 54K 16BB. Both season he got New Britian promotions but was scarily bad....15gm 2st 25.1IP 35h (.331BAA) 31er (11.01ERA) 25k 24bb Personally, Id lost faith in him as he started the 2012 season on the DL after a poor showing in AFL. This yr 17gm 1-3 5sv 2.60ERA .266BAA in 27.2IP 24k 8bb Promoted to AA, he has now had 3 strong showings......4 scoreless innings 1h 2bb 5k If he's finally legit....he could join Lester Oliveras & Deolis Guerra as 23 & younger righthanded arms who throw 93+ for the future.
  14. #3 picks Ony guys to make majors are Justin Morneau (99), Jose Morales (01) Brian Duensing (05) #4 picks Jason Miller (04) #5 picks Clete Thomas (05) didnt sign Steve Tolleson (05) #6 picks Brian Wolfe (99) Pat Neshek ( 02) #7 picks NONE #8 picks Adam Lind (02) didnt sign..Brian Dinkelman (06) Brian Dozier (09) #9 picks Saul Rivera (98) #10 picks Kyle Phillips (02) 13 players in 15 years drafted from round 3-10 made majors. Thought we had a great minor league system. Fire Deron Johnson?? Went thru most teams & its incredible how few 2-10s progress. Makes it more imparative to hit a HR w/your#1 pick
  15. Thanks for adding, got tired so I stopped @ 10.....after round 10, they can only sign for 100K unless they have $$ left from the original 12m pot for picks 1-10. Signability could be why they dropped
  16. We all focus on the #1 picks of the Twins over the yrs & the majority of those have made the majors, but for a handful of picks.....I have been very disappointed in the #2 picks, who should have nearly as much value for teams. Last 15 yrs 97--pick 61--Mike Restovich....made majors, never a starter--152 MLB gms 98--pick 49--Marcus Sents......out of ball after 2 yrs in half season lgs 99--pick 56--Rob Bowen.........backup C who played 216 games 00--pick 42--Tagg Bozied.......didnt sign 00--pick 54--JD Durbin...........'Real Deal' was all hype, 23 MLB gms 6 starts 01--pick 45--Scott Tyler..........never made majors, was dealt for Luis Castillo 02--pick 63--Jessie Crain.........very solid pick, better after leaving MN (IMO) 03--pick 58--Scot Baker...........best pick of last 15 yrs IMO....63 Ws in 163gms 04--pick 61--Anthony Swarzak..failed starter, may have found role in pen 05--pick 54--Paul Kelly............complete bust due to massive injuries (164gms in 6 yrs) 05--pick 73--Kevin Slowey........39 w's in 100gms....now a minor leaguer 05--pick 80--Drew Thompson....son of former big leaguer, couldnt overcome back troubles 06--pick 64--Joe Benson..........still lots of promise, demoted to AA 07--pick 92--Danny Rams........K problems may stop his progress in Ft Myers 08--pick 60--Tyler Ladendorf....dealt for Orlando Cabrera, nothing to look forward to..still in AA for OAK 09--pick 70--Billy Bullock..........dealt for Scot Diamond, AA for ATL, loads of control problems 10--pick 71--Niko Goodrum......3rd season but still in short season....possible prospect 11--pick 87--Madison Boer.......having horrible yr in Ft Myers....hard thrower who cant strikeout hitters Last 18 #2 picks.....come up with 3 decent picks, but no home runs. Have traded 3 for decent additions. Can Berrios & Baird change this or more of the same???
  17. To me its higher than Blackburn as Hermsen is havin an outstanding yr @ 22 after a very solid one @ 21. Blackburn never really had an outstanding minor league yr till 25. Best case....Mark Buerhle type. Eats innings, low K rate. Agree that it depends on Manship/Gray & that Hirshfield is probably the guy IF someone is promoted, but he has really entered the discussion
  18. Right after I posted the 19 game streak, Eddie made a throwing error in the 10th. argggghh.
  19. Another great outing for BJ today 7IP 5h 0r 5k 1bb 85pitches Gardy basically announced Hendriks will be called up to start Sat on his radio show.......does this mean BJ goes to ROC. 2 promotions in one year is VERY unTwins-like but if he earns it, he earns it.
  20. Rosario has quietly put up 19 straight error-less games. Im not big on fielding percentage due to the horrible official scoring that goes on, but he is up to .959 FPct as of today. Hopfully, he can be looked upon as a straight 2B very soon & not an experiment. He has outperformed the unamimous #1 prospect Miguel Sano 2 straight seasons now. Wonder what his national perception is
  21. While Hermann hasnt increased his numbers greatly at New Brit this yr......he has now played about a full MLB yr in AA 151gms 546ABs .260/.360/.397 29doubles 5 triples 12HR 67RBI 10/13SBs 84bb 112Ks While I cannot find his numbers from 2011 vs LHP....I know they were not good (low .200BAve) This yr...15/48 for a .313BAve. Keep this up & you have to assume his BAve vs RHP (.248 in 2012) will pick up.
  22. An arguement can be had for Mauer, Morneau, Willingham, Capps, Perkins & Diamond. They will get only 1....Mauer or Willingham.....of course there is a month left. Diamond would have to duplicate his first 7 starts over his next 7 starts to even get consideration. Most realize that Wins by a pitcher are totally out of his control, so he can still pitch great & not get the Ws & lose ground.
  23. BA & ESPNs rankings are purely based on what they percieve as their talent/projections. Some MLB teams draft according to signability (MN has already admitted this for this draft). Twins Top 10--draft spot--BAmerica rank 1. Byron Buxton---2nd pick----First overall 1S. J.O. Berrios----32nd pick----49th overall 2S. Luke Baird------42nd pick----93rd overall 2. Mason Melotakis-63rd pick----88th overall 2S.JT Chargois------72nd pick----77th overall 3. Adam Walker-----97th pick----58th overall 4. Zach Jones------130th pick---199th overall 5. Tyler Duffey-----160th pick---388th overall 6. Andre Martinez--190th pick---404th overall 7. Jorge Fernandez-220th pick--not rated in top 500 8, Christian Powell--250th pick--195th overall 9. LT Mazzilli--------280th pick---143rd overall 10. Doug Baxendale-310th pick--319th overall
  24. Another great start for Liam Hendriks on SAT 8.2 IP 3h 0r 2bb 10k--- 124 pitches....... Gotta be him next SAT for the 5th starter doesnt it??.......Pavano shoulder wont heal by then, he needs more time. 7starts 5W OL 46.1 IP 28hits 10er 1.94ERA 42K 13bb
  25. First 16 gms thru May 7th.......4-39 .102 BAve .205 slgg 1double 1HR 2RBI 10bb 6Ks Danny Valencia optioned May 10th.....coincidence???? Last 23gms since May 8th.....22-86 .256 BAve .593 slgg 5doubles 8HR 15RBI 5bb 20Ks
