amazed at what the Twins see in him. Lucky for him, but I believe MN plans on keeping him, the minor league relievers have been battling injuries (oliveras, guerra, guittierrez, waldrop earlier in yr) all yr.
If Liddle gets the promotion over Roberts.....it really goes to show the good ole boys network is still workin. Its not how you play, but who you're related to in this organizaion. Wouldnt surprise me either tho.
With TKs comments on Evan Bigley...(said basically he's a future MLB player & likes him alot), could he be goin up to ROC & we've seen the end of Clete Thomas perhaps!!!! Nate Roberts could go up to Ft Myers to take Benson's spot......avalanche effect hopefully.
Possible, but this would again anger me as it keeps retreads like Casey Fien & Jeff Gray (who have NO future with team) on the club over a guy like Robertson (left handed specialist only...and a MN developed player) gets the axe.I hate adding guys over our own developed guys....massive pet peeve. Duensing probably wouldnt start if PJ Walters didnt have a setback. Walters (back in TCities for an evaluation) said he's not back to square 1 (in Star Tribune) but its a defiante setback.
If we do a Liriano deal w/NYY.....todays SP from Trenton...Brett Marshall...could be in the package. Held NBrit scorelss thru 5.2IP 2h 6k 82 pitches....Yanks #11 propsect entering season. BAmerica says he can be a #3 type starter. Already had TJ surgery 2 yrs ago that took away a plus fastball, now sits in low 90s but adjusted
Rogers is having a great 5 starts season for ELIZ after havin a VERY forgettable career @ Kentucky. Suddenly he's turned into a K guy......funny how things can change so fast.
Im one who believes that runs scored is a stat that shows off a players skills of getting on base & baserunning skills (not necessarily basestealing but base to base & xtra base taking), while others believe it is a virtue of leaving it up to other players to knock you in.
Herrmann leads the Eastern League in runs scored as a catcher with 57 (heading into Sundays game....Aaron Hicks 2nd w/55 despite missing a couple wks)
Entering Sunday, Colabello in the Eastern Lg ranks
Tied for lead lg in doubles wit 26
2nd in RBI with 65 (to teammate Evan Bigleys 66)
Tied for 4th (w/Evan Bigley) in Total Bases w/153
7th in slugging @ .489
8th in runs scored with 51 (Chris Herrmann leads with 57..Hicks with 55)
13th in OPS w/ .826
Just saying that the 28 yr old is blocked @ AAA by 32 yr old Sean Burroughs. I realize you want organizational depth, but Sean is not even the next up at his possible positions. If youre playing poorly like Burroughs (only hitting for average....weak average at that), consiquences should be had.
Rochester should be able to have players playing for them that they deserve.
8th in HR w/13
thought you were thinking in spring training that Keplar shoulda been in Beloit to start season OR at least in Beloit when SS started---Niko also??? Why the philosiphy change?
While I dont truly agree with the reasoning, MN gets a 'free' year out of Berrios.....meaning that with the new signing period, other #1 pick pitchers wouldnt participate at all during the drafted season.
My thought is if he continues to dominate, he should go to ELIZ & if it continues.....Beloit to start next year to challenge him.
I am following the way BALT did with Dylan Bundy....know he's a top top prospect, but if you dont challenge a guy..you dont know what he can accomplish.
Twins have commented they will give DeVries one more start at least.
Because his 4.37 ERA is such an embarrasment that they would go back to Walters/Blackburn/Hendriks (whom I like)who havent pitched as well as Cole has so far. Last nite was the anomoly for Cole, but a good start for Blackburn.
Arcia spent his year 19 entirely in ELIZ (64gms) for comparison purposes, but this is Keplars 2nd yr in the lg (72gms) & 3rd overall. He is gonna have to be protected on 40man in 2 yrs after this. That is a gamble you have to take with signing a 16 yr old, so I think they may need to take a different approach. Not like the kid isnt doin EVERYTHING he needs to do (after the 0/13).
By 'great state of Wisconsin', I am bein sarcastic & know they probably wont let him into the state till he can legally drink (not like it stops anyone else)
why isnt a first round (supplemental I know) high school pick able to be compared to another high school first round pick (#4 I get it)???Bundy didnt pitch last year so in comparison, this is a freebie year of development.....but how the Twins view him will be determined by what they do with him next year.
5/11 over last 3gms w/double triple 2rbi 2bb
Since the 0/13 first 3.... 19gms 24/68 .353/.511/.485 16runs 3doubles 3 triples 12rbi 16bb 6k 6hbp
Pretty impressive.....when should he see the great state of Wisconsin???
4 games back in New Brit for him since re-activation, but it doesnt seem they are stretching him out to start anymore
9.2 IP 12h 4er 9k 4bb
Have they stopped his progress again by keeping him in pen or is his arm still not 100%
this one is interesting to watch on how MN handles him. Berrios IS a first round pick. Last yrs #1 picks didnt pitch (many anyways) as they signed late. BALTs Dylan Bundy started his 19 yr old season in Low A with a promotion to High A. Where will Berrios start....ELIZ of course as MNs goal is to fill their minor league rosters , NOT to get guys to the majors ASAP. Mn promotes according to age, not performance
