  1. Unfortunately his twitter site didn't show up on my posting, you can check it out on his twitter site if you like
  2. Many look at Archer's stats while at PIT or maybe they got burned by him on Fantasy Baseball thus saying he's no good. Sometimes we need to look beyond the stats. There hasn't been any doubt in my mind that Chris Archer's problem was PIT coaching staff. Archer had good action on his fastball & slider w/ a circle change up. He`s also a workhorse putting up a lot of innings for both TB & PIT. My only doubt was how he would come back from his surgery. Looking at his twitter post he looks pretty darn good at this stage of his recovery. FO office could sign him to a low contract w/ a lot of incentives. Wes could work w/ him to get his fastball & slider back & Johann Santana could perfect his circle change up. Also there was talk about him telegraphing his pitches, this also could be worked on. He`s low risk/ high reward, FO sign him up
  3. Because of this weird year, a lot of teams are trying to cut costs, teams like PIT & TX. Other teams are capitalizing on pitchers who had a pretty good 2020. So you have teams like TB where Snell had a good PS but a poor 2020 season, yet they are going to milk a trade w/ everything they can get. Bauer will also try to milk his Cy Young w/ all he has got. IMO the Cubs will try to trade Darvich along w/ Kris Bryant, depending how desperate they are. IMO Sonny Gray makes more sense, Gray has had some good years, 2020 not being one of them. Looking at Twins FO history, they'll go after a bounce back candidate w/ high up-side bargain
  4. Interesting proposition. A trade would be reasonable like a high pitching prospect plus a lower prospect or Brent Rooker plus a middle pitching prospect. Kiriloff or Larnach wouldn`t be in the trade unless the Cubs have something else to add to the trade. I wouldn't count on a weird shortened 2020 stats so I wouldn't trade any active player w/ a down season to gain a pitcher which had a good one
  5. What I think might happen is that Odo will bet on himself again & take the best 1 yr. deal, hoping that he can get a better multi-year deal next year.
  6. Unfortunately, we are a small market. So we have to be creative, patient & shrewd to compete. Cruz also has to look after himself. I think where people get anxious is that they`re afraid that a high rated DH might get away. I believe most people's plan A is to resign Cruz, IMO our plan B should be internal. Use the DH as a strategic & rotational position to relieve over-extended or injured players. This will also free up some $ where we'd need it more. This plan B is not only the better option strategically but also less stressful so we can be more patient to make the right decision. The universal DH is better for Cruz leverage wise but it also puts more physical demands on him to play a few more games that could be more detrimental for him. So the patient game is the best game whatever happens will be fine for both parties.
  7. Just curious, is there a fee when selecting a AAA Rule 5 player?
  8. I was hoping that Akil Baddoo would get passed over, not such luck #3. Zack Pop #6 & Jordon Sheffield #8.
  9. Since the beginning there was a lot of FA talk surrounding Jake & that there was a lot of interest from various teams. Thought he'd be gone by now but so far nothing. Is he waiting for a bigger haul? Now there are a lot of trade rumors for starters w/ already some deals. Where does that leave our friend Odo? The way things are going, it doesn't look good for him. Will he have to settle for less than what he deserves? Does the Twins have a shot at him? Please share your thoughts.
  10. Like you said a good possibility is that the Twins could pick up a Rule 5 pitcher or 2 (can you select more than 1?) & use him as a rotating relief option. I like Valdez also, another one I like is Brett de Geus, RHP, Dodgers. de Geus also has very good control & has good stuff. I'm sure LAD would like to keep him but are backed up w/ great pitchers. Candidates compete w/ our prospects for relief spots & see if they stick. Duran & Balazovich , I'd like to hold back to get their innings in the minors to help develop them as starters
  11. Nick you stated how the demand will be low, also we need to look at supply. There seems to be plenty of competition at DH which would also effect the urgency for Cruz. Twins seems would be the most urgent to sign him. Although MN has a lot of options there
  12. Going to another league w/ a whole new group of hitters would be advantageous for him. I`m surprised how quick this went down & that Wisler agreed to this amount. Wish him well
  13. I`m not saying that these FA options are my 1st choice but they're a step in the right direction. If we do end up signing these 2, it`d be an improvement
  14. I appreciate your vision Mat, that we need an upgrade at CF back up that we've been hurting for a long time & has cost us dearly. Almora would be a good fit, although we don`t have a desirable CF back up we have a ton of corner outfielders. So his usefulness is solely CF back up this alone can not justify him to occupy a roster spot. On the other hand, Ketel Marte not only takes care of CF back up, he`d be an upgrade at SS. I'm an advocate of starting Marte at SS & transition Polanco to 2B, where he could blossom into an allstar (not at utility, I don`t think he'd adapt well there). Marte's a great hitter & has an agreeable contract. I agree w/ Andrew that it'd take a little more than Larnach & Enlow but at least it's a great starting point. Marte is worth any trade that doesn`t include essential prospects. SS & CF is the anchor to any defense & should be addressed. Trade is also good for the player who are traded because it gives them an opportunity to start now, not 2-5 yrs. from now if ever
  15. Thanks Nash. Always appreciate your comments & updates
  16. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-rumors-phillies-open-to-offers-for-zack-wheeler-reds-working-to-trade-sonny-gray/ Twins are interested in Hernandez (utility) & Soria (RP). Happy to hear that because Hernandez is the best solution in the FA to address our need for super utility like never before. LAD might be interested to resign him , if so I`d be interested in a trade for Chris Taylor (LAD, utility) Soria is also a viable FA selection at BP. I believe FO is on the right track
  17. W/ due respect- Kepler, Polanco & Sano all got extended contracts because the FO sees their full potential. This covid nightmare was disastrous to all of MLB & MiLB. Like all nightmares, they should be put behind us & dream of better days & not play any futile exercises. If we would`ve lost them w/o any compensation, that`d be a worse nightmare
  18. Thanks Mat, nice article. Thank you Eddie for all those great memories. Sorry for you being one of the victims of covid. Again wish you well
  19. Agreed, we can`t expect the same results of a juiced ball in 2019 be the same as a non-juiced ball season. A juiced ball favors hitters while a non-juiced ball favors pitchers
  20. 2020 was a terrible season, successful baseball players love routine & try to get in a groove & maintain it. Garver is such a player, the sporadic season was disastrous for him 2020 had many distractions, successful ball player needs to focus & distant himself from these distractions. Kepler was a victim to these distractions & IMO never really was able to distance himself from them. 2020 had many health problems, this category is where Polanco falls into. SS is a very important position & Polanco sees the need & importance & tries to meet that need. The problem is that he`s focusing on playing beyond himself, putting a lot of emotional & physical stress on himself. That stress causes problems. I say he needs to be shifted to 2B, which relieves the emotional & physical stress, then he can relax & be that all star that he's capable of. Much like Brian Dozier Hope these & other problems can be resolved in 2021. My expectations is that they will & we'll have a record season.
  21. Thanks Lucas for bringing this report on Lin. Looks like he can`t hit or field very well, his only forte is his versatility. Unless there is a total transformation, it looks like a waste of time. Something I've advocated for a long is that we really need a quality CF back up & a upgrade at SS, a good hitter would be nice. If we can find some one who can fulfill both functions (which would be ideal), if we can`t then we need to find a person to fill each. The reason for our poor record w/o Buxton & Donaldson is because we can`t field an superior SS & CF back up. SS & CF are too important to throw just anyone
  22. Thank you Vanimal! Chris Taylor would be my lone trade also, it should take a lower prospect. Looking forward to more of your blueprints, things will be awfully boring until after New Years & then it`ll get very exciting
  23. Cruz's leadership is invaluable, we can`t replace it w/ an expensive bat. So if can`t resign Cruz, I agree w/ you that there shouldn't be a set DH but used it to rotate to our strategical advantage & get bats in the line up
  24. We can only hope. They surprised us w/ the Donaldson deal. On top of my list is resigning Cruz, I'd guess they'd try for less. The FO hasn't reacted yet to any real deals (they never do, they wait until the end & get the best deals they can) so I don`t imagine they don't have any set FA they're dead set to sign. I imagine that this year we 'll have a big selection to choose from. We'll see if any these that you selected get signed. I'd guess they go after a overlooked pitcher that they can tweak at a bargain. If they go for an upgrade at SS, I`d put Polanco at 2B rather than utility. Any hole they can`t fill via FA they'll try w/ trades
