  1. I'm buying on all the Twins. Dobnak will bring in the greatest return some I could short but I won't.
  2. If everyone is healthy, I believe they'd come pretty close
  3. I agree with you we need to bring back Cruz. Although it was hard to wrap my head around the your information you presented without an equation to plug it into. But I think I finally figured it out. Your saying we need his experienced bat. We need everything that he brings to the table! IMO Cruz will come back, but if he doesn't, I'm fine with that too if they don't bring in an out bat. My point is we have a lot of in house bats we need to utilize. I'd like to give full-time DH duty to Arraez so he can get his ABs and plug in players like Donaldson, Garver and Jeffers. I like the idea of keeping the players fresh, to maximize their production. To add my 2 ¢ I'd perfer Sano transition back and forth to 3B from 1B. Because I don't know how much or how long Donaldson will play 3B and Sano is the best sub. Arraez could transition to 1B much like Carew did. I disagree with you about us having dead weight. Even those who don't have power still can hit at least average. Most players in the line up at least have the potential of hitting the ball out of the park. I'm optimistic that those who were in a slump will come out of it. Besides we have the defense that will limit the number of runs scored. I'm echoing again your call for Cruz and almost certain that they will bring him back.
  4. It'll be a great pleasure to see Simmons and this infield perform.
  5. The staff last year wanted to reduce Berrios's intense preseason workouts because they believed that it drained his strength at the end of the season. But because of the shortened season it backfired. He wasn't as prepared so his performance wasn't up to speed in the beginning. But at the end he was just warming up. If this season is normal he'll be on track. Hope he can take the next step and be the ace that we want him to be. At the same time hoping he signs an extension
  6. Now with the great addition of Simmons , we have edged ahead of CWS. Hopefully soon we can bring home Cruz and that put us in the driver's seat. I trust they'll come up with a good BP and rotation. We have great hitting and defense.
  7. I really missed Andy Macphail when he left. He knew the need and got it done right away. He was a shrewd negotiator. Things went downhill from there. But this FO has done a good job at bringing in a great manager and coaching staff with the high tech. Any serious injury to Buxton or Simmons (I hope not) Lewis should be called up. When Lewis is called up there'd be a lot of work for him because he's a true super utility player
  8. I believe Didi is too expensive for their blood. If there's a deal I think it won't happen until close to dead line. They more motivated to get rid of their heavy salary burden. I believe they'll do anything to drop them from their payroll.
  9. It's too bad that CLE is in our division because we miss out on pitchers that CLE discard. It's like playing cards when we're not behind the player that we want their discards and not able to pick up. To some this is a pretty sensitive subject.
  10. Simmons acquisition could be a double blessing. 1st we strengthened our SS position. 2nd we took away the Reds last shot at a legitimate SS. Without a legitimate SS and the Reds are thinking about trading their capable 3B, Reds pitchers, Castillo and Gray would probably lose trading value because grounders are going through for hits. Hopefully our players value will go up. Then makes it more feasible to trade Jefferies could be a fit for BP
  11. Thanks Top Gun, later I discovered my mistake and tried to correct it but you had already discovered it.
  12. Let me clarify what I mean by cute. When Dobnak can't get ground outs he needs try to get SOs by going out of his groove and try to hit the corners ( Being cute). The problem is that Dobnak is a nobody. So he doesn't get the close ones, at the same time loses his groove and sometimes throws a little wild
  13. To address the statements that Lewis's poor hitting in 2019 AA. He addressed that by saying it was mental. He took care of that by hitting well and winning MVP in the AFL, while playing 2 different positions. At St. Paul we didn't get much news, the only news that came out was that Lewis was the best hitter there. Yet Rooker, Jeffers, Kiriloff and Blankenhorn were brought up and hit very well, how does that reflects on Lewis? Many criticize his high leg kick. But many have had success with it, namely Donaldson and Puckett. So I'm not worried about him hitting in MLB.
  14. Many say Simmons is all glove & no bat. But his bat is pretty good too, just that he doesn't have the power of some other top SS's. I'll still take his glove over their bats
  15. of coarse Luis Castillo, he had Bryant & Baez on his left side which he had benefitted greatly. W/o them he'd be another Dobnak. But we have to remember we have Simmons for only 1 Year.
  16. I know that Dobnak doesn't have flashy stuff but what he does well is force grounders. When Donaldson is on the field his grounders normally don't go through. When he isn't they do, therefore Dobnak has to try to be cute & he's not good at that. So both Donaldson and Simmons are on the field, the ball isn't going to get through. So he doesn't have to try to be cute.
  17. Could Dobnak be an all star? With this terrific infield, I believe he could be. When Donaldson was in the line up Dobnak shined. Now that we have Simmons , Dobnak's stats & record will be very good because he's an excellent ground ball pitcher . Many aren't very excited about Dobnak, even as a 5th starter but I believe he'll surprise a lot of people
  18. Twins came through and signed Simmons. Right now the Twins has a World Series caliber infield. Now if they sign Pillar they'd have a World Series OF. I think it'd be interesting if they'd spaced Pillar and Kepler. Then play Buxton shallow and play kind of rover. Then Buxton don't have to worry about running into the wall and he robs a few shallow fly balls that normally are hits. That is if Pillar and Kepler can handle it. Just a thought
  19. I don't think that anyone is down on Arraez, just realistic. W/ Donaldson , Polanco & Arraez are around average. W/o Donaldson, they are well below par at SS & 2B. As Donaldson is doubtful as an every day 3B, if we want to compete something needed to be done. HOF Rod Carew was an all star 2B but he was shifted to 1B because he wasn't very good at it yet he had better range than Arraez. The fact his name is brought up on trades is because his value is high. I don't think they'll trade Arraez, they'll find a place for his bat. Arraez is not a super utility player. I don't consider Gonzalez as a super utility player. My definition is a player which can play SS & CF anyone else is just utility.
  20. I think Sano is our best back up option too. I don`t know exactly how they are going to manage Donaldson. . If they`ll rotate him at 1B or DH or complete rest the days he's not playing 3B or a combination of all 3. I disagree that this is a minor transaction. IMO this will totally revolutionizes the Twins & Polanco if he is kept at 2nd. Now we need a decent long term back up to Buxton. Although we hope that Buxton remains healthy the whole season , we can no longer depend on it. I love this transaction , Baez was my 1st option but Simmons was my second. Just hope his ankles are healthy. Best transaction for a long time
  21. Thanks, NYY is the Yankees
  22. It's close, Kiriloff has more power but I'd choose Lewis because of his athleticism. His ability to play the critical positions of SS and CF which is the Twins greatest need. I'm not worried about his stance, he has shown that he's able to make the necessary adjustments.
  23. I was going to respond to your post earlier. There has been some interest in Tailon. Not too familiar with his stuff but the fact he's from PIT means he has untapped talent and he's cheap. But alas one more opportunity gone. NYY got him, BOSTON got Richards, that leaves very few opportunities left.
  24. Getting back to the original statement. I don't think that Adrianza hasn't gotten any offers. I believe that's the problem. He's been hoping to return to the Twins but hasn't been called from FO while hearing that Gonzalez was contacted. I believe he's given up hope of returning. Which is too bad.
  25. My suggestion at SS is Adrianza as sub, Polanco at 2B & Baez as SS.Reasons for Baez #1) Cubs are very motivated to trim salary & retool #2) Baez trade value is low due to last year of arbitrations & had a poor year at the plate. (should take a couple of lower expendable prospects) #3) Baez's. kinship to Berrios. This would produce great camaraderie which could favor to the club house atmosphere & extensions of both Berrios & Baez. I'm in favor of extending Baez because his extraordinary talent & our lack of depth there We need FO to step up, be persistent & creative ( go to a 3rd party if we don't have exactly what the Cubs want) to not miss out on this opportunity.
