  1. Well stated. As perhaps the most polite member of this online community you captured it succinctly. Mama said there would be days like this, but stands out as among the worst in Twins history.
  2. It will take a pretty serious conversation to salve that treatment of Jax. Jax is an established, if not famous, MLB late inning pitcher. Jax is probably the most disciplined player the Twins have had in many years. There was brief moment where it looked like he was going to go off in a big way on Rocco. I think Jax is almost surely going to be traded.
  3. I am. I'm tired of watching DH only types in the outfield. I'm tired of guys who are not aware of the game they are playing in. I'm tired of guys who cannot run. Wallner and Larnach would never have a uniform on my team. I have no idea what they are like as human beings. I will accept they work very hard and are excellent people. They interest me in the same fashion as Giancarlo Stanton and he hits bombs too. When I see how hard Trevor Story (big contract), Jarren Duran (still in arbitration), and Roman Anthony (raw rookie) play, hustling all out on every play .... yes, I get down on the jogging Twins.
  4. Salary relief is all that would be accomplished by trading Correa. That and letting him go play for a winning team. I doubt there would be a return player. The Twins might get off by paying $10M per year. Hard to know what's going on.
  5. Does anyone think Wallner, Larnach, Keirsey Jr., France, Vazquez, Clemens, and Gasper would even draw a lottery ticket in return? That leaves Jeffers, Lee, Lewis, Correa, and Buxton as MLB players on the roster. Bader and Castro are gone.
  6. The Twins need to reset after the off day tomorrow. I'm not sure the White Sox or Rockies ever looked this down and out.
  7. Believe it when it is done. The national writers need to create stories. Yes, they hear .... "is interested ...."
  8. The Phillies need players. They could use any or all of Castro, Bader, Coulombe, and a relief pitcher like Jax or Duran. They would become the favorites with the right moves. They lose in the playoffs without a couple of additions. Worse, they have a number of valuable players on expiring contracts too. Rock and hard place for Philly. Yes, much better place than our Twins but they need to make something happen.
  9. Ideally, Castro and Bader have the day off, but the Twins kept Gasper up which means nobody for the outfield.
  10. Willi has expressed gratefulness to the Guardians for trading him to a club that gave him a chance, to the Tigers for helping him to learn multiple positions, and he has loved his time with the Twins. I think Castro knows this is his last game as a Twin and that has got to be hard. More than any other expiring contract, I feel for Willi.
  11. It has to be quite an adjustment to play all out in high school and college and then get to the major leagues where jogging is ok. The young pitchers are likely gobsmacked by some of their teammates defensive skills.
  12. They show the replay with Clemens running and getting thrown out at the plate. Clemens seems like a guy who plays hard, but we can clearly see him not going at full speed a couple of times and easing up at third base before he then tries to score. Contrast that with Trevor Story busting his ass out of the box on every ball he puts in play (that I have seen). Why does a marginal player who has been released previously not go full speed any time he runs the bases? I don't get it. Is this a don't get injured running hard team philosophy?
  13. Was watching the play at the plate several times with Clemens. I still have no idea when a blocking call can be made against a catcher. I'm not sure I ever liked the rule, but agree with a reduction in injuries. Wong is not a big guy and at one time he would have been run over for blocking the plate.
  14. This is approximately how I see this deal. No further offers forthcoming. The Twins wanting to move Paddack. No other teams making calls. Deadline coming. Get it done. Ask for more but clearly declined so just negotiate a new home for Dobnak. Detroit says ok. We have zero idea but this makes sense. Detroit pretty much has the AL Central wrapped up barring a fantastic collapse but they also want home field, so any negligible addition might help.
  15. Right fielder ran a long way to catch that ball by Jenkins; impressive. Jenkins swung the bat well.
  16. The article is a stretch. Paddack had virtually no market. The Twins didn't want to hold him because he does nothing for them except as a fishing buddy for Brooks Lee. The Tigers made a call, conversations ensued, and a deal was completed. Unless this catching prospect actually reaches MLB, the entire deal is not noteworthy for the Twins. Besides now Dobnak is in Toledo which is closer to his home.
  17. If GM's do not trust or have a reasonable relationship to discuss players openly and honestly, teams are less likely to deal. That is the premise of the article. For example, if a team was interested in Edouard Julien in November of 2023 but could not receive any hint of a rational idea what was possible when dealing with the Twins, this results in future reticence on the part of a GM to even call the Twins. Now substitute any name for Julien. Again, this is basically what the article lays out. Myself, I have zero idea what Falvey thinks about. I do know he just recently stated that the Twins had the talent to be a playoff team. Do you see that?
  18. This is an ongoing disagreement among people on Twins Daily, one not likely to be resolved or change. I don't believe people should get upset at others opinions, especially when it involves sports (entertainment). Naturally we don't know what is going on with Falvey but my views are copacetic with what you expressed. The last two winters were the last straw for me. There must have been some value in a number of flawed players but nothing was done. We hear, repeatedly, the Twins have a playoff roster. Sadly, the numbers and eyeballs tell me a different story. But, others see it different. So it goes.
  19. The Astros would need to pay everything above $10M or this doesn't work. I'm not sure salary relief was the only goal in trading Paddack and Dobnak. For sure it was a factor, but clearly there was close to a zero market for those guys and so one takes the best offer out there.
  20. Correa has been a bit of a disappointment perhaps but he is still the only shortstop. A huge question ... Can Kaelen Culpepper step in and play full time next season. We have seen WestSacramento and LAA stick guys with limited experience out there and they did ok. There is zero chance the Twins pay most of the contract, but perhaps they pay $10M per year for the next three years. Seems like that would be the limit. I can't worry about how the Twins use that money. Looking over the FA pile for this coming winter is mostly just sad beyond the huge contract guys. I'm just hoping the Twins improve the roster overall and if Culpepper is ready that is a go for me.
  21. One thing we cannot know is the willingness of other teams to work with the Twins. The Athletic has an interesting article up that discusses the ease/difficulty teams have in discussing trades with other clubs. From the start of the 2019-2020 off season to July of 2025, the Twins have made fewer trades than all but 5 organizations. The Twins have completed 31 trades according to the data. which is well below Tampa Bay (76) and Milwaukee (58). There are 9 teams the Twins have not traded with and 14 teams where only 1 trade was completed. Perhaps there are barriers we believe to be passable which are not open. If we think the Cubs or Phillies might make reasonable trade partners with the Twins but these two teams haven't completed a single transaction, obstacles may exist. These are details well beyond our knowledge which certainly affect the ability of the Twins to complete the simplest of deals much less trades for top players. I have no expectations.
  22. Miami has a better record than the Twins. The White Sox have been more competitive than the Twins since the All Star Game, 7-4. The Twins are hurting right now and things are not trending in the right direction. Both the Marlins and Whie Sox are trending up.
  23. The idea that a team can compete with one outfielder is unique to say the least. I'm tired of picking on Wallner and this will be my last comment on his defense. Promise. Big Matt has 43 hits this year and he can really hit shots at times. Last night two balls fell that Kepler catches, a guy who never won a Gold Glove. I don't want Kepler back. Wallner might have allowed more hits than he has hit. This is an astounding detail, one that realistically isn't far off. Late in his career Nelson Cruz rarely played in the outfield (26.1 innings in 2018 and 28 innings in 2017). Cruz never played a single play in the field for the Twins. Cruz didn't have a glove. It is past time to take away Wallner's glove. I believe he can relearn how to hit and potentially rise again as a functional DH. Send big Matt to AAA or even Ft. Myers to rework his swing and retrain his swing decisions. Bring him back when he can hit again. But never allow him back out in the outfield.
  24. Yes it does. I never thought I would prefer Keirsey Jr. to Wallner, but here we are. Time to play Keirsey every day or bring someone else up.
