  1. If the front office knew what they were doing wouldn't we be contending right now? They didn't do anything when they had the chance when they needed more contingencies and didn't do anything cause they gave up back in April. as far as aquiring more Palka and Park and That one power hitter who went to the Braves minor leagues but never made it but had lots of power and drove in lots of runs.... ya aquiring more of them eh... more Terry Ryan moves. I didn't know he still worked here.
  2. The correct answer it doesnt matter. The front office is already planning to give up next year and sell so we get more prospects. We should plan on the front office calling it a season as soon as we are 5 games back. They dedinately wont do in season reinforcements. Keep expectations real and root for the Yankees future star pitcher (Gibson)or some other big markets future players as we get them developed so we can trade them for more prospexts to trade......
  3. So the front office is again pulling a play from the Terry Ryan playbook and getting a player who is terrible but good against Twins pitching.....
  4. My complaint with the front office is not with the off-season as it was a good one. but Terry Ryan also had good off-seasons or good but incomplete ones or good but didn't get the one thing we know we need.... My complaint is that the front office didn't do Jack Schitt when all the holes happened in our lineup at one time. we had a few holes covered and then had 2 or 3 when we could have used and even got reinforcements at low costs. There were 2 bats released for nothing including Hanley Ramirez and we could have acquired a C like Chiniros from Texas for a prospect. oooohhh a prospect and paying someone league minimum. That is such a high cost to go for it. That would have boosted morale and likely had a better affect for the clubhouse and improved the lineup enough to win a few more games. but the front office did nothing. Its even more frustrating when they waited a few weeks and still did nothing when the opportunities were there. They could have still sold if we didn't catch up. I am more upset by their lack of in season management and their willingness to just give up on the season. By giving up so easily it defeats the point of playing out the season. We now know that if the Twins are 5 games back we should stop going to games because they are gonna sell. Waive the white flag...... Falvine is ready to give up and call it a season and continue making us a farm club for the winning teams. Yay!!!!!!
  5. Its good to see that Brian cashman is on the same page as i am in terms of what to aquire.... jk.... but it does confirm that the idea had lots of merit. but i also wanted to point out that in addition to all of these players we got from the trades today we also cleared 2.6 million in payroll. This will help make up for lack of fans in the stands as we start tanking.... What did we save on Friday something like 2 million?
  6. I do like this trade regardless though as i feel if Santana is good to go then Lynn or another starter (Odorizzi) should be dealt. and that would not be considered giving up as we had extra starters ready to go.
  7. I didnt take it well on Friday. and i still think someone needs to make some Falvine I quit or I give up shirts. We Falvine gave up in 2017 even though we won the Wild Card. We gave up in 2018 and traded lots of player. We got a head start on giving up in 2019 by trading one of our best relievers too. but at this point i guess its about the race to the bottom. Its too bad we had that run right before the all star break as now we really gotta tank to get a good draft slot next season. We have lots of teams to pass on our way to the bottom. Luckily giving up is way easier than actually trying and failing.
  8. I am not expecting much. I was just thinking there are more useful things we could get. Like international cap space or just one prospect maybe ranked a little higher like their 10th best prospect (assuming that one has more upside). maybe we give them international cap space (if we have any) and pay more of his salary. Seattle has made it clear that it is this year or bust with them. I know that soon they will need to go the tanking route so might as well go all in.
  9. Do these guys we just got even offer anything of value? Does either rank in our top 30? I would rather have the one 40 man roster reject and international spending cap money instead....
  10. I think I am in the minority in that I would rather they keep Dozier. He is starting to climb the all time franchise list of stats. Which to me has entertainment value. With 2 more seasons of 25 HRs Dozier could be 4th all time in HRs. Currently he is 10th. He is 2 SBs away from being 1 of only 5 who have both 100 SBs and 100 HRs as a Twin. He is also around the top 20 in Hits, Runs, RBIs and climbing. If we aren't going to win we may as well have something right? No...We have to suck all the fun out. ......Figures.... I hope they sign Dozier to a 1 or 2 year contract around the 10 million AAV. I would have thought he would get a 4 year 60 million before this season. I know the angels and Dodgers will be looking for a second baseman this offseason but other than that I don't know who would really go after Dozier as a FA? The Angels may just resign Kinsler.
  11. The Angels may be behind the new trends of positional flexibility and the lack need for elite defense all over the diamond as a result of high Ks and uppercut swings. There is another thread about that topic here http://twinsdaily.com/topic/30797-dear-derek-falveytwo-things-happened-last-night also why is this forum not on a secure website? notice the http and not https I know i would be willing to pay a 5$ security fee to make this site secure.
  12. The Twins got a savings of 7.25 million or pretty close to the value of 1 WAR. is that pick that they gave up worth 1 WAR? I think that pick is worth close to that I don't know for sure. Then what do the Twins do with that savings and how do they reinvest it? but i feel like that was a fair trade provided that was a 1 time thing to move a bad contract and clear a roster space and not a common thing moving forward.
  13. Someone should make a Falvine I Surrender shirt.....i surrendered in 2017, and 2018, and got a head start on surrendering in 2019 by trading Pressley....
  14. Also the defense thing is less important now cause K rates are so high. So with this generation of players defense is less important. Last generation defense was more important. Thus both old and new schools of thinking are correct. The benefit goes to those who figured out the new school of thinking after the K rate went up. I remember Yankee teams of early 2000s built on offense loosing games or a Baltimore team leading the league in HRs and middle of the pack in runs.....
  15. The DH was supposed to be a rotation till Morrison fell into our laps. Thats not on Molitor. Morrison is awful on defense.
  16. And you know Twins decision makers take where I live into consideration for trades.. jk....
  17. Or we could add Gordon instead of Severino. But i like the idea of using a good prospect to get a better prospect and balancing out a trade. Plus I live in Irvine where Kuira went to college so it would be nice to have that connection.
  18. If im trading Gibson i want top prospects. And if we dont get them we should just keep him. I dont know why we are so against extentions for players . But i dont think we need to keep trading for volume from teams 10-20 ranked prospects. How much is getting 3of those for Gibson gonna help? How about Gibson and 2B Severino for Kuira and Peralta?
  19. Looks like Grossman will be tendered a contract next season to be a placeholder as this front office continues to do the opposite of winning.
  20. We gave up. Falvine surrenders already. They give up quickly if there us a struggle.
  21. I get throwing in the towel when we are 10 or more games back. But I hate the quit when we still have a chance. We better be getting a good return here. Its a good thing i am not a season ticket holder either. I would be demanding my money back for my remaining tickets.
  22. Well i guess this thread can be put to rest. Escobar just traded to AZ. I get selling when we are 10 games back but i really hate this give up mentality when we are 7 and still have a remote shot. There is no entertainment value in giving up.
  23. Polanco has a .714 OPS and Adrianza is at .717 so no drop off there.
  24. I think we have three or four games to decide. We would probably have to win all of them or maybe we can loose 1 at most. So we would be right around .500 at that point. But the other important fact is we are trending up. Sano is closer to returning So is Reed. Cave, Polanco, Grossman, and Garver have been good lately as well.
