  1. I'm struggling to think of any team that has a perfect lineup up and down. In my opinion... The Twins lack an ideal lead off hitter until Buxton shows he can be that guy and that's it. Mauer is a perfect 2 hitter If Sano hits like he did last year... He will be one of the finest 3's in the league. I think Park was signed to hopefully protect Sano so he goes into the 4... if he Does what we hope he can do. Dozier should be a middle of the order guy so he goes 5 Plouffe 6... Rosario 7.... Murphy 8. That leaves Escobar as the lead off and Buxton 9 until Buxton starts killing it and when Buxton starts doing that... You switch him and Escobar around and it's all good. That's what I would do
  2. In my strange way of thinking. I always wonder how someone outside of the room writes an opinion about how things are done inside the room and it's quoted as gospel. Meanwhile when those inside the room speak... They are torn apart. I love bloggers and writers and I read them and enjoy a bunch of them but I don't understand how the things they type from outside the room seemingly carry more weight. I have no idea if Terry Ryan is better or worse than Neil Huntington... How could I. I know that I don't always agree with Terry Ryan but I refuse to disrespect him because he has a different idea than I do. Is the system broken? I don't know but I doubt it because water is still coming out of the tap.
  3. im not sure if I like the article or not We'll see
  4. If I'm Terry Ryan. I would probably do the same thing. I'd listen to my scouts and I'd trust them because I hired them because of that trust. If they think Murphy is the guy... I'll make the deal. Murphy better be better and he better play more than Zuke or I'm gonna be upset with the scout advocating this move. If I'm Terry Ryan... I'm not waiting for 2017.
  5. Yeah I get that... It's why I typed it however... The Twins didn't need to clear space for a far superior player... No team needs to do that. It would be really simple to just play the far superior player. What they did was clear the safety net away from what we all assume is a far superior player. I sure hope he stays healthy and I sure hope he is ready. If Murphy is indeed an upgrade... in 2016. I'll be nice and happy. If Suzuki gets the most playing time. I won't understand it.
  6. I also believe that the scarcity of quality MLB talent at the C position has to be factored in. It probably inflates Murphys value... Heck... It probably inflates Suzukis value. My fingers are crossed hoping that Murphy is indeed an upgrade for this year.
  7. Molitor probably is not very familiar with Murphy. I'm hoping this statement changes as becomes acclimated with Murphy.
  8. I'd like to clarify my earlier posts. I don't know if Murphy is better than Suzuki right now. I can't wait for the season so I can find out. I like to give the front office the benefit of the doubt and I will. However... The way I see it. If Murphy isn't better than Suzuki and Murphy is the backup. The Twins didn't improve the position sufficiently. It has to be Murphy as the starter or we weakened CF to improve backup C. If we are the Phillies, Braves or Brewers this would be fine. The Twins are not and need players for 2016. Therefore it better be Murphy as the starter and I hope he wows us all.
  9. I'm not very interested in 2017 right now so... While I agree that you can't determine who won the trade after one season... Any deal the Twins make should improve the team in 2016 because they were almost a playoff team in 2015. For the reason you list "big problem at catcher last year". If Murphy can't beat Suzuki out for number one on the ole depth chart immediately... To me that would mean we gave Hicks away. And then... At least I... Will seriously lament the loss of Hicks.
  10. Murphy cost us Hicks If Murphy doesn't get the lions share of starts... The Twins overpaid.
  11. The ole horses mouth. Great interview... Touched on all the hot button stuff briefly.
  12. If Park hits 26... Then.... With health....I think Sano could eclipse 40 If Park fails... Then... With health.... Sano could lead the league in Walks.
  13. I've been misread I got Park at 170 and the rest of the team hitting 36 for 206 total. You must agree that is much more realistic.
  14. I like the Park dice roll. I've never worried about log jams. I actually like log jams and feel they are something to strive for. I think the Twins are hoping Park can provide big bat protection for Sano. I hope they are right and it forces Gladden to come up with a home run call.
  15. Chief... Dude... I'm not sure where this negative attitude is coming from? Park hits 170 and the team hits 206 and we all blame Mauer. You just gotta believe.
  16. I think we should start a "Hope Lefty is wrong" club. Meet on Thursday Nights... Low membership fees. Hot Dish... Beer and someone to record the minutes so it seems official.
  17. I could buy this thinking... I could even support it... Well not support it... but benefit of the doubt it at least. However... Terry Ryan stated that a left handed piece in the bullpen was an off season need.
  18. Yeah... Just like they did last year (cough cough).
  19. I agree that the article itself is questionable but... No matter the starting point... I've enjoyed the 8 pages of discussion and hope we get to 12.
  20. I'd like to drop in an off topic compliment just cause I don't believe you should pass up chances to give someone a compliment. Seth... This is just a small example of why I appreciate your insight over the insight of others. You consistently demonstrate your grasp that each ball player is more than a collection of numbers. I always value your opinion because of your ability to drill down to the human level. Each player is an off the field story. There is nothing robotic about young players with hopes, dreams coming from different backgrounds and the adjustments to a new culture. It would be very strange if it wasnt a small or large cause in the overall results. Just wanted to post that Now back to the discussion
  21. I don't know anything more than most people but if I were to a place a bet. I'd bet on May becoming the next Twins Closer before I'd bet on him returning to the rotation. I've lost bets before but I've won a couple. Who knows but I wouldn't be surprised if May is in the pen as long as he's in a Twins uniform and... And... He was pretty good in that role and I'll be ok with that.
  22. i really wanted the Twins to pay the price for bullpen arms this year and am disappointed that they didn't. I had no interest in the Abad's of the world. I wanted the Twins to go after frontline relievers. I wanted them to think big and pay the price for big and quit messing around with average. When I see the prices paid for the arms that were moved... I'm under the impression that the Twins could have paid those prices easy. For example... The Twins could have topped what the Yankees paid for Chapman. If Revere got Storen... Could Hicks get Storen? I don't know. Could the Twins have matched what the Padres paid for Pomeranz? Could we have pried away Boxberger? You identified bullpen as a need and I agreed with you and you got Abad? This alone is worth a "D" grade for the offseason. Take the risk... Go for it... You almost made the playoffs last year.
  23. Who knows what these guys will be at age 33 or 36 or whatever. For 2016... In my opinion... The Indians need some power and Chris Davis was the premeire power hitter in free agency. I'd have went for it but it's easy for me to say because I'm typing those words from my living room with no responsibility at all. About Chris Davis... I'll say this... He has easy power like no other in the league. I've seen him flick balls over the wall on multiple occasions. If I had to bet on anyone maintaining his power stroke late into 30's ala David Ortiz. Chris Davis would be the guy I'd put money on. About the Indians... My main point is that they should have done more to acquire some power. If not Davis... somebody else in addition to Napoli. Cespedes? Upton? Someone... Because that pitching staff is to good to wait for youngsters to mature.
  24. I could be wrong but I think the Twins depth across the board is our primary strength. My prayer is that Molitor and Ryan know exactly how to use it.
  25. LOL... I appreciate, respect and welcome the White Sox poster and Look forward to more intelligent and respectful posts in the future. Seems like a likable decent individual who is a fan of a team that I absolutely hate. Boos from me to the White Sox forever!!!
