  1. Motion granted. I do like the idea of maybe trading for Matusz. That's a realistic target.
  2. Twins are only 11 games out of the wildcard, guys! We can do this!
  3. Even if he returns to his best self, he won't be a huge loss. He was never a great pitcher. Odds are he won't become one in his age 30+ seasons.
  4. Chief, I would argue that compared to family life, baseball is meaningless. Also, if Ryan Pressly's wife had premature twins, I would damn sure hope the Twins would give him as much time as he needed. I think they would. And I think most fans would be fine with it. Actually, more fans would be fine with it, because he's not Bum Joe Mauer.
  5. First off, It's a no-brainer that he takes some time off for the twins that matter. Second, he gets a little physical break in a meaningless season. Hell, give him a month off. We all want him to stay healthy, don't we?
  6. He's an insider, but I don't think he bases his prospect rankings on the views of the front office. I assume they are based on his opinion. That's why this had me confused: "Based on his dropping out of the New Twins Prospect Pipeline Rankings - The Twins think like you do too." I don't think that's true.
  7. You realize that the prospect list at twinsbaseball.com is not run by Terry Ryan, or anyone of importance, right?
  8. Geeze. This is so extreme. He seemed like an awesome kid in Pelotero, by the way. He's young. He will learn.
  9. I don't know if I want the Twins to resign a pitcher with a 5.1 career strikeout rate who will be 30 next year. I guess a two year deal is not a big risk, but anything more than that? No way.
  10. I too will be upset if they don't pick up any salary. I've bought in to the "payroll was much higher than what was spent" talk, but there is no excuse to not do this.
  11. Thanks for posting this. "We can get hung up on age and that does matter to a point, but whether it's him, Evan Gattis or anyone else, we've got to keep context in mind of why a guy is old for his level especially when he's taken such an unconventional path." Couldn't agree more with Badler here. People constantly bring up his age without acknowledging why it took him so long to get here. If a team had noticed his dominance in Indy ball earlier, he might have made it to the big leagues earlier.
  12. Would be amazing, but I think the probability of that happening is 0%. He's a top 3 prospect in all of baseball. They aren't going to trade him.
  13. I really like the idea of limiting Mauer's innings at catcher. I hope the Twins are smart enough to do that. Quit scaring me!
  14. I think the Twins will move up May when he's ready, not to arbitrarily fill a roster spot. Baxendale hasn't pitched much in AA at all.
  15. I don't really think so. They have plenty of players that can play 1B. Plus, we're waaaay out of contention at this point. I don't think it matters.
  16. Confirmation from mlb.com: Twins option Arcia, Escobar and Parmelee to Triple-A Rochester | twinsbaseball.com: News
  17. I would be pretty sad if one of the best hitters in the minor leagues this year doesn't get more PA in the majors.
  18. I just watched Jeff Manship pitch for the Sky Sox, so yeah, not a great farm system. He pitched pretty well though!

    Puig

I completely agree with the article.
  20. I don't disagree with most of what you just said. I know FA pitchers are usually old. That's why signing a pitcher is almost always a bad idea. If you're going to sign one, you should wait until you have a good team. Sign that 29 or 30 year old when you're ready to win.
  21. Try not to scare women from these boards with the misogyny. I'm interested in the free agency discussion. Who outside of Anibal Sanchez would have made much of an impact on the 2015 club? Even he will be going into his age 31 season in two years. Greinke would have been ridiculous, and why would he come to Minnesota? As for this coming year, expect to be disappointed. Matt Garza is the best option, but I have my doubts that he wants to come back to Minnesota. A.J. Burnett and Kuroda are aging and I'm guessing will want to sign with a contender. Tim Lincecum and Josh Johnson should be targets, but they won't turn this team around. It's difficult to find good pitchers in free agency. And your team needs to be in the right situation to spend big. I hope after the 2014 season, Terry Ryan can target some better options. That's when we can contend. That's when you overspend for pitchers.
  22. Levi Michael had a pretty good game yesterday, but man does he look like a bust. His overall numbers are pretty awful.
  23. Holy crap, Jesse Crain. Remember when he sucked?
  24. Yeah, for Hanson, I'd probably want some filler prospects thrown in. That would be realistic value for Perkins.
  25. I think a trade of Perkins for one of those guys straight up would be a steal.
