    I'd poop my pants if the Red Sox offered Bogaerts for him. Not going to happen. Still, GMs can get stupid with closers. As much as I love Perkins, I would happily trade him for a top prospect.

    So...no one is saying that number wasn't given by Ryan. But TR also said in March that there is no firm number. It would be nice if the Twins could come out and confirm what the current plan is. Or maybe they aren't sure yet. Either way, I think Walters made the decision to call up Gibson easy last night. Hope to see him soon.

    I'm not going to lie, I only really read the OP. But I hope someone mentioned that Terry Ryan was extremely constrained financially, in his first tenure. I hope the Twins will be buyers when the time is right. I guess we'll see in a few years.

    I'm not sure why the Twins should target a player like Kevin Slowey, even without the bad blood. Not that he's a bad player, but he's 29 with not a lot of upside. They should be trading away older players for young prospects at the deadline.

    What do you want? The Twins to keep treading water as a mediocre team? Why the heck would you care if Correia was traded? This is the way to build a contending team. If they were contenders and tried to trade away good players for prospects, you might have reason to complain. I think most people want the Twins to become an elite team in the future. They aren't going to do it by going balls to the wall in free agency. Even if they made some high profile signings this past winter, they'd be a mediocre team. So, you trade for prospects and draft well. Then you hit up free agency. (And they better. If they go cheap then, I'll be mad too.)

    My attitude towards Bert reached an all-time low after the "cybermetrics" conversations earlier this year. However, most of the time I realize he's better than most. It's insane how many terrible broadcasters there are. If any of you have ever gotten to listen to Jim Deshaies, it's a real pleasure. Best color man around.
