  1. Flawed does not equal worthless. However, I agree with Brock that the sample size is not sufficient. And like you said, defensive metrics are flawed. Still a helpful tool. In my eyes, he was surprisingly "not bad" in RF. But he still needs to be a plus player with a bat in his hands before he's useful.
  2. I'm really hoping the Twins don't screw around with stretching out Duensing and Swarzak. I like the chance that one of Worley, Deduno, Diamond, Albers, or Gibson performs well. Why add two other guys to the mix when we've already seen they can't succeed as starters? Just be happy that they've found nice niches in the bullpen.
  3. I appreciate the logic and statistics used to defend the signing, but it won't change the fact that the guy is just awful to watch pitch.
  4. I'm surprised so many people are attached to Plouffe. I don't know if I would make the trade, but I don't think it would come back to haunt the Twins. Besides, the Twins don't know how to utilize him properly. You'd have to sign a third baseman, though. I'm already resigned to the fact that Miguel Sano is going to have Tommy John surgery in March. :/
  5. My choice would be Fryer, followed by Kris Johnson. It's more likely to be Colabello.
  6. http://assets0.ordienetworks.com/images/GifGuide/michael_scott/The-Office-gifs-the-office-14948948-240-196.gif Absolutely hate it.
  7. I have a feeling that this will wind up being a good move for the Cubs. I still don't understand how he was the guy that got cut.
  8. Tell me this is satire or something.
  9. He's really improved as a broadcaster, and I much preferred him the Bert this year. I'm happy that he's moving up. The sad thing is that Eddie Vedder will no longer be a Twins fan.
  10. If the Twins signed Drew, would they have to give up another pick for someone like Jimenez or Santana? If not, I could see that making sense.
  11. Wow, that's a major change. Only problem is that other teams like the Astros/Cubs will definitely bid 20 million. So now the Twins have almost no shot.
  12. I know it doesn't mean much, but I asked Doogie on Twitter if the Twins could shock the world and go after Tanaka since they seem to like him. He said: "I think it's more than like. It's a near love-fest. Just such a tough posting fee battle to win." Anybody think they'll make a real attempt to sign him? I'd say it's highly unlikely, but young, potential aces don't come around very often.
  13. I'm pretty pumped. The rotation might just be respectable.
  14. Not only does Pelfrey have no upside, he's absolutely painful to watch. 30 seconds between pitches and constant finger licking. I will most definitely skip every fifth Twins game if he re-signs.
  15. Arroyo and Garza would make me absolutely ecstatic. I guess that would make all of us ecstatic. Those are the guys I want. My hopes are already up, but I am fully prepared for them to be shattered.
  16. Now this makes me excited.
  17. Ah, I misremembered. Honestly, the more I think about it, Liriano wouldn't have had as good of a year here. They would have still told him to keep pumping fastballs instead of mostly sliders.
  18. I was all for getting some kind of value for Liriano before free agency. The Twins still could have resigned him, but they probably weren't willing to match the 2 yr, 14 mil contract. There were reports that he would have been open to returning. I disagree with that decision, not the trade.
  19. I'm a big fan of Molina for the two reasons others are stating: 1. He speaks freaking spanish, unlike anyone on the coaching staff besides the Texan, Cuellar. 2. Pitch framing! That would be a big help to the pitching staff. Also, I'm not sure if it's a teachable skill, but maybe he could teach Pinto how to do that. The mentor thing is probably overstated, but it couldn't hurt to have him and Mauer giving Pinto tips. No matter who they sign, I hope Pinto starts most games at catcher next year.
  20. If the Twins can sign Garza and Arroyo, (I like Arroyo because it would be a 2 or 3 year deal), I'd be ecstatic. The rotation would go from "dumpster fire" to legitimately "good". I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment though.
  21. The difference here is that Bronson Arroyo is a proven pitcher. Not some soft-tosser with a mediocre minor league track record.
  22. I'm not sure if anyone else has said it, but Law is hilariously undervaluing Arroyo in his FA rankings.
  23. I'm fine with it as long as Pinto plays the majority of the time and it's just a one year deal.
  24. It's been like this for months. Not quite as bad as today has been, but bad.
