Totally agree with the first part, but remember that his fate rests in the hands of the same guys who kept Belisle instead of Busenitz. Decisions that should be no-brainers for them are too often turning out to be no-brain decisions.
That would be the weather, I take it. If our pitching is hot and still gives up two touchdowns, I'm going to rethink my summer viewing habits. In all seriousness, they just said Kepler is out with heat exhaustion, so yeah, tough day to be out there.
Just turned on the game, and after 30 seconds of being pleased that it's a tie, suddenly it was not. So if the suspense was killing you... you're welcome. Also, yes I just got here but I'm not letting some phony baloney 'Hildenberger' jersey fool me... that's got be Belisle out there coughing up go-ahead runs.
Thanks for posting, really fun read. It's hard to imagine a Twins fan not enjoying at least a skim of it, even if they dislike Fangraphs. In a season where the Twins seem absolutely determined not to be the least bit interesting, it's a relief to see them do something that is. Promotion idea: A free beer for everyone of legal age if Astudillo strikes out before the seventh inning. Assuming he doubles his AAA strikeout rate when he reaches the majors and makes 100 PA's evenly distributed by inning, the Twins would buy three rounds of beer over the remainder of the season.
That, and maybe a bit of "Gosh, I'm still somewhat stunned that my current contract and my ability to play major league baseball are on pace to expire within minutes of each other".
Although I'm also frustrated by front office's inactivity, I think maybe you're not crediting the existing team enough for their likely ability to sustain the present level of futility despite a hypothetical influx of new talent.
That exact same thing happened to me years ago when I lived in Detroit, except that the trip was to the liquor store and back. Well, that and also I didn't really keep meticulous records over the lost day, unless you count that one unfortunate voicemail.
