  1. Small world, so does the Twins' player development puppy mill.
  2. Maybe it's a little late to bring this up, but would it kill the Tigers to please not bat Goodrum in the cleanup spot? Seeing a guy the Twins dumped play a hundred games at a respectable level is salt in the wound that has been this 2018 baseball season, but seeing him bat cleanup is... what's worse than salt in a wound? Sriracha?
  3. I fear Magill will be having a beer in a year from now, telling a stranger "I used to be a closer...It's a tough racket".
  4. Reward for the low walk rate, maybe? They could use relief pitchers in alphabetical order at this point for all I care, as long as nobody pitches too many innings.
  5. Late bid for a trade to the Yankees? Maybe somebody explained to him that he would still get a ring even if he only played there for a few weeks, he wouldn't be required to move his family to the Bronx, and he could still end up playing here next year.
  6. But is he PO'ed that he's been reduced to mop-up guy, or PO'ed that there's mopping to be done tonight?
  7. Twins apparently still mired in the Denial stage of the Kubler-Ross Goodrum Grief cycle...
  8. Let's hope he doesn't go the same route as his cousin who jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge.
  9. Up by a touchdown...I'm hoping they gamble and go for two here.
  10. So we can all agree that labeling Logan Forsythe's hot streak a small sample anomaly is way too boring; that leaves either A) a guy playing like he wants to be in Minnesota next year or a guy playing like he wants to leave Minnesota next week. I'm voting A), in the hopes it will indirectly increase real estate values in the Twin Cities.
  11. Yes.* *The judges would also have accepted "Locks of hair torn out by apoplectic fans".
  12. You're making the same mistake that everyone, including me, had been making since he re-entered the building two months ago: you're assuming that his presence on the roster is predicated in some way on his getting major league hitters out well enough to contribute to the team somehow. It's pretty clear now that it's not.
  13. That's like choosing between the lobster and the cracked crab. Can't we just have both? http://static3.businessinsider.com/image/51cc6f4b6bb3f7b07e000003-800-411/tp17.png
  14. You may have missed the left turn at Telegraph Road. Then go south. Follow the sound of the horns. They're blowin' that sound.
  15. Agreed, I'm just talking about the awkward position they've found themselves in at the moment, rather than the long range forecast. The organization's outfield depth chart was supposed to be stocked like a trout pond (edit: pun intended after the fact), but they've still somehow ended up having to acquire two of them in trade and one more via waiver claim or Groupon or however we got The Smirking Man. That, and we've still been seeing a glimpse of Grossman out there once in a while, chasing the ball around with a boxing glove on one hand and a meat cleaver in the other.
  16. Don't be too disappointed yet. At the rate they're going, before the season ends we'll probably get a look at everybody in the organization who has an outfield glove. Outfield was supposed to be one of the Twins' strongest positions system-wide, wudn'it?
  17. Not a problem. We just have the Twins time-traveling secretary go get the groovy, option-able 2018 Austin...
  18. We'll burn that bridge when we come to it. And speaking only for myself, if the biggest potential downside to a .600 season is that the TD response to it won't put the right holes in everyone's Swiss cheese, I'm willing to live with that risk.
  19. Luckily for Mr. Fields, he's replacing a player who's playing below replacement level.
  20. As long as it's smarter than a Roomba, or at least protected by ECM (electronic counter-cat measures).
  21. Or 20 up and the first baseman drops the ball due to tremors and sheer terror...
  22. Hey, can't we at least let the man retire before we start badgering him about which jersey he's going into Cooperstown with?
  23. Brave pick in that nearly impossible choice between two titans of the game. It's like having to choose between "Joanie Loves Chachi" and "Charles in Charge", if it were possible for Scott Baio to have a negative WAR.
