  1. My wild speculation is that we get Casey Mize tonight (on normal rest because they had an off day yesterday) and Joe Musgove tomorrow (with one extra day of rest since he hasn't pitched in the Majors since 2024).
  2. Could be that Joe Musgrove is being activated from the IL He went 4.2 innings in a August 16 rehab start, so the timing works for that
  3. ESPN has had Vasquez listed for at least a day, but MLB has it as TBD. Not sure what's up
  4. It's convoluted because of the potential lockout. Any player on a 40-man roster would be ineligible to play in the minor league during an MLB lockout. That's related to the MLBPA, and has nothing to do with option years. Once any potential lockout is settled, then option years would work just like normal and Walker Jenkins still has 3 option years remaining, so he could theoretically be optioned to AAA during the 2027 season (and two future years)
  5. I'm pretty sure a player only needs to be in the organization by Sept 1st, to be eligible for the playoffs, not on the major league roster.
  6. Ken Singleton had nearly the same OBP though, because he had a ton more walks.
  7. I assume he lumped in this morning's two-homer finished contest from last night
  8. Or… is the recovery never really set in stone. Could he, over the offseason, do a “pitcher-esque” TJ velocity recovery program to get back closer to his 50 arm (if we assume that grade wasn’t BS from the start)? Or is he what he is at this point? The ligament has recovered and this is basically his new normal. I don’t know the answer
  9. Correct. There was a 4-6 week stretch where Martin was what I would consider to be an everyday regular (May into June). Other than that he’s been almost a textbook platoon outfielder.
  10. At a high level, this got me thinking about something. How differently do they treat the recovery process of a position player getting TJ surgery compared to a pitcher. I think it's generally accepted that a pitcher regains their velocity eventually, post TJ surgery. But is that because a huge part of the recovery process for pitchers is getting all of the velocity back? Whereas when you have a position player post-TJ surgery you just aren't as concerned with getting all of that throwing velocity back. You want them back on the field and if their 50 arm turns into a 40 arm (especially for a 2B) does it matter all that much?
  11. In general I agree that Jenkins is doing really well at AAA, but I feel like we need to level set on what's average at AAA. As of this morning Jenkins had a 123 OPS+ at AAA this season. We should all be really pleased with that from a 21yo who likely has strong defense, but that's not "dominating"
  12. I agree with Gleeman's thesis of "I want Walker Jenkins with the MN Twins right now" but I believe Gleeman's "just put him in the effing lineup" stance doesn't account for a key aspect that is mentioned in this article, which is that the AB come from somewhere and there are consequences to that. You can't just give him Roden's AB and feel satisfied. If that's all you had to do, this would be easy. Jenkins needs more AB for it to be worth calling him up. So where do those come from? First what are the measurable consequences of taking those AB away from players who, at this moment, are performing pretty well? Bell - 22 game on-base streak. OPS over 1.000 in August Keaschall - 165 OPS+ since July 1 Larnach - Struggling in August, but has been a key part of the offense this year. Second, what are the non-measurable (clubhouse level) ramifications of making those changes? I can't have any real way of knowing that, but it's something that Zoll and Shelton need to consider.
  13. I don't see any reason why he can't be on the Culpepper schedule (just one year behind). I feel like the Twins were pretty aggressive with Culpepper and he probably would have been called up in June if it wasn't for his glute injury. That's a perfectly acceptable (and aggressive) timeline in my opinion. But I'd be ok with faster based on.... How does Culpepper's defense look these last 5 weeks? Are we OK with him holding down SS in at least the first half of 2027? Or is it going to be a Brooks Lee 2026 situation where we're anxious to move him off of SS as soon as we can? Shifting guys around the infield midseason isn't ideal, but I'm willing to do it if the end result looks much better than the previous status quo. But, if we think Houston is going to be up by May, I'd rather just have Culpepper working in spring training and the offseason on whatever position he's going to end up at (And potentially Brooks Lee, if we decided Culpepper's best spot is 3B).
  14. I feel like the Twins in years past have done a decent amount of promoting to AAA the last 2-4 weeks of the season for their best prospects. I wouldn't be surprised at all of Houston is promoted to AAA for the last few weeks of the season.
  15. To me, this paragraph right here answers your question. That's 4 OF. I want all of them to play almost every day. There will of course be injuries along the way, but when they are all healthy I want that DH spot open so that all 4 can be in the lineup.
  16. If we aren't going to pass the White Sox for a potential 1st round bye, I'd rather not pass the Red Sox and have to travel to Yankee Stadium in the WC round. You might says that's a pretty small needle to thread (playing well enough to catch the Red Sox, but not well enough to catch the White Sox), but the needle exists.
  17. Best series of the year. Right when we needed it most. Not being able to access TD during those last couple innings was stressful.
  18. Twins SP must rank very high in pitches per inning, right? Taj had like 18 pitches through 2 innings and now somehow having only given up one run and two hits, he's at 88 pitches through 5. Meanwhile... .... and a Caratini 1-pitch AB to start the next inning
  19. Me too. I'm sure he's got some inherited runner stuff in there that's not showing up in his ERA, but based on the overall bullpen ERA, it can't be THAT many of those.
  20. This is exactly why I've had him on my fantasy baseball team for like 5 straight years. "But he's injured too much to be valuable in fantasy." Nope. Incorrect. I get to put him on the IL when he's injured and start a replacement level CF for those games. When you combine his 100 games with the 60 from the replacement CF, it's a very productive 9th round pick at a position that doesn't have great offensive options The key for the Twins is to have a replacement level CF (or LF if he moves positions) on the roster for the times he's on the IL. Because his per-game numbers and rate stats are still mostly fantastic (this recent slump not withstanding)
  21. So the "do the guy a favor" comment was just BS you thought sounded good then?
  22. Yeah. He's been better than probably anyone on here could have hoped for this year, but we're already seeing some regression (74 wRC+ since the all star break) and for ~$7M with a crowded 2027 OF, it just doesn't seem to make much sense.
