  1. What a play by Sano! Got him at the right position.
  2. Really a bunt with your hottest hitter up? Someone needs some managing lessons.
  3. I am not going to pretend I understand the calculation fully but this series, Rangers vs Twins, pits the most clutch hitting team since at least 1974 versus one of the worst clutch hitting teams this year. Not hard to identify which team is which. Maybe our clutchiness will even out this weekend, although later it is identified that teams that have a higher clutch statistic strikeout and walk less than average - so in that case we are in trouble with the number of strikeouts we have. The article on the Rangers is below http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/rangers-hitters-couldnt-be-more-clutch/ And the current ytd rankings are here: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=3&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=11,d
  4. A couple of observations - Love how Eddie could not possibly be any further from the plate and I wonder how they found a bat that small? Did they take the head off of a hammer?
  5. Kudos to Rogers for not giving up a run in an inning! Let's celebrate the small victories.
  6. If I were GM I would cut Nolasco immediately after this game. I have seen enough and we won't get anything in a trade.
  7. Caught stealing then the much anticipated strike out by Dozier. Nice pitching by Santana tonight - unfortunately the usual result this year. Getting too painful to watch - might be better to follow Rochester the rest of the year.
  8. I like all these moves and look forward to them. I wonder if that will be enough though - this team seems to have a losing mentality. I am not sure how to fix that - maybe bringing up some more young guys will help. If we score runs the starting pitcher doesn't come back with a shutdown inning, if we have great scoring opportunities we seem to invariably strike out with runners in scoring position, we give the bullpen a lead and they blow it. At first I thought it was just "bad luck" and it would turn our way but it continues to happen more than chance. Whatever it takes it looks like we expect to lose. Seems like we need a change in personality, if not from the manager, then a veteran leader We can call it the "Hunter" effect but the '87 team had Dan Gladden, the '91 had Jack Morris.
  9. This team does not disappoint. Who is going to step up and lead this group!
  10. Progress - improved from losing 16-4 to losing 10-4 with all the changes. Tomorrow extra innings!
  11. I had them at 78-84 for this year so I will go with under by a hair. Always hopeful that this is wrong and they will be World Series winners!
  12. I'll go over despite the age concerns.
  13. Now that we have signed Mr. B. Park - what are some suggestions for his new nickname with the Twins? I'll throw out the first pitch..... "Hit it out of the Ball" Park - shortened to just "Ball" Park Happy to have him onboard at a reasonable price!
  14. Can we have Aaron Slegers work with Alex Meyer on how a 6' 10" can pitch with control? lol! Maybe we can somehow combine them into one outstanding pitcher that throws 100 with control.
  15. We need to improve on hit and run and stolen bases for next season. We have some speed guys - too many double-plays.
  16. Well, that had to be one of the most disappointing Viking performances in quite a while. So much hype and they looked like the worst team in the league. Just to echo a couple of earlier posts outside of the play...Berman and Dilfer are the absolute worst announcers - I hope I never have to listen to them broadcast again. 49ers uniforms are ridiculously ugly - and what do those colors have to do with their uniform. Bears had the same crap - Fire Goodell for allowing that alone - lol! Totally outplayed at the line of scrimmage - not looking at the game tape - but our Linebackers always seemed to be out of position and Hodges looked like the main culprit - Greenway looked slow - I would like to see more Kendricks. Peterson looked hesitant - not sure if that was the blocking or if he is rusty. Don't know what was up with Bridgewater - looked more like a Ponder out there. For the first time I can remember since the Giants-Vikings conference game - I turned off the game before it was over and had no desire to flip it back on. Good news is that this is one game - team has a chance to rebound - will be very interested to see how the team comes next week at home versus the Lions. I guess the bad news could be if we have to watch 15 more like this.
  17. I would have preferred that the Twins would have acquired another veteran backup after Pinto went down at the beginning of the year, but apparently Ryan is very satisfied with Herrman and Fryer.
  18. Well Twins hit a Grand Slam yesterday and lost - maybe we can turn this one around as well.
  19. Nice write-up and analysis Seth! I would certainly do this deal - locking Sano up for his most productive years. He is not a pitcher or catcher so I think there is less risk for a serious injury. Saves about a projected $20M in his 2 Free Agency years. To put in perspective this total cost is $100M less than Mauer's deal for the same number of years.
