  1. Add Lewis, Kirilloff and Graterol - especially if a name like Syndergaard starts getting tossed around
  2. Wow, it looks like negotiations have been real tough so far ...
  3. .732 is the lowest OPS on the active team and one of only 3 sub-.800 OPS .... That's impressive!
  4. How about Shane Greene? He's under control in 2020 too. I like some guys like Trevor Gott and Amir Garrett as well, but they are under control for so long that I think the price will be pretty high.
  5. I would want it to be an above value offer for him .... I wouldn't want him to be a throw in .... The thing with Cave is that he is basically a plug-and-play if any of the big three go down .... Obviously, Gonzalez fills in as the fourth right now, but his value would be lower if he was forced to be a starting OF and not available to swiss-army around the field ... I also think Cave is a better OF than Marwin (didn't check if numbers back that up)
  6. That type of hitting stance always makes me raise an eyebrow as well, but some have had success. Alex Rios comes to mind. Our own Marwin Gonzalez holds that bat pretty low as a lefty as well.
  7. The Marlins couldn't afford to make their 20th round pick? Or, do they have Mike Tice running the show? Edit: Nevermind, slow update.
  8. A three round Canuck run .... Everyone must be at lunch and Morneau is making all the picks.
  9. Ranked 177 and drops to the 18th .... huh ... No risk, but huh
  10. I thought only the DSL had those age restrictions. The GCL only has service time restrictions. Maybe I'm wrong. Either way, old class so far. Maybe they'll just go IFA for the youngsters.
  11. The Rays took him in the 28th round last year out of JuCo. The Rays picking someone is usually a plus in my book. That team is good at finding and developing pitching.
  12. My daughter's birthday is today as well, so this will be an easy one to remember. I just saw this checking BR.
  13. Concur ... Garver setting up in pipeshot territory on the next pitch didn't help either.
  14. 9 college players in the first 10 rounds ... Ray Smith is going to be happy! Some 23 yo is probably going to go .400/.500/.700 in the Appy league and get annointed as the next savior.
  15. Great to see Enlow with some early success in the FSL ... I know it's a pitcher's league, and he probably hasn't been as good as his ERA, but he's not going to be old enough to order a beer until next March. Good stuff!
  16. Pitch count shouldn't even come into play there. My take is that he was a rookie on the road who just got through an inning after a four pitch walk. He got the ground ball to get the double play. Let him leave with another quality start and a positive ending to his outing. Baldelli was already concerned regardless of the pitch count, or he wouldn't have started warming up Harper. I won't disagree that the decision was justifiable, but I still don't think it was the correct decision. Smeltzer's FIP was 12.11 yesterday. That doesn't really give your team a chance.
  17. Smeltzer should have never come out for the 7th. That seemed like second guessing. Harper was already up in the 6th ... Not that it mattered, since Perez carved up the top of the order in the 8th.
