  1. Late last season he had a no-hitter through 7 against the Yankees and ended up being pulled in the 8th after losing the no-hitter ... Twins still won, but the game was late enough in the season, that it didn't matter. I think last night was a bigger deal ... "To be the best, you gotta beat the best" and all that good stuff
  2. Wander Franco will be giving Lewis a run for his money. I hope they both realize their full potential.
  3. Baldelli threw the Verlander game in Houston, so Hinch simply returned the favor last night
  4. Looking at the pitcher above ... Arraez is about as adorable as Astudillo ... He's on the 40, so let's call him up to fill in for La Tortuga!
  5. He fouled a ball off his leg between the shinguard and knee yesterday... It looked like it hurt like a MF They sat him today to try to keep him off his feet but said he was available.
  6. 2019 xFIPs Enlow - 3.75 Moya - 2.84 (3.2 innings) Littell - 5.41 Watson - 3.15 Duran - 4.77 Alcala - 2.64 De Jong - 11.17/25.11 (6.2 innings, but Wow) Rijo - 5.01 Smeltzer - 1.30 Chalmers - (Injured) Yeah, it's a mixed bag.
  7. I thought about this, but with Kepler and Parker both being sick, I wonder if options were limited.
  8. "Lost in all this offensive narrative is that Rosario has regained a focus in the outfield that rounds himself into something special. Putting up six defensive runs saved through his first 165 innings, and notching four outfield assists in the early going, he’s again a guy you don’t want to test in the grass either." Love this part He almost got the 5th assist last night ... That non-out on Correa when he initially mishandled the ball on the track may have been his most impressive throw of the season.
  9. Good to see these prospects like Graterol, Thorpe and Smeltzer dominating in their respective leagues. I don't know what the weather was like for Thorpe's first two starts, but hopefully, those are outliers. I've seen Graterol live, and he seemed to work relatively quickly. Does anyone have any input on how Thorpe and Smeltzer are in this area? It's at the top of my mind after watching Odorizzi and Pineda that last couple days.
  10. We're talkin' baseball Berrios and Polanco Talkin' baseball Eddie, Buck and Garver Hildy, May and Rogers comin' through They knew 'em all from 'kato to Duluth La Tortuga, Kepler, Cron and Cruz
  11. I'm not in a rush either. Having a 9th place hitter with his skillset does cause some disruption. He must certainly benefit from getting to see 25-30 or so pitches before he steps into the box as well.
  12. A sweep is good medicine for the foul feeling you get after losing a series that you think you should have won. Toronto is hot, and like the old saying goes - "It isn't always who you play, but when you play them." (Can we switch our schedule and go to the Bronx this week?) The Twins bullpen is lacking in depth, but they are still currently tied for the third best record in MLB. Knock on wood, the team is staying healthy since the regular season started. Every team has their issues - some more than others. I'm certainly happy that the Twins don't have the Yankees' IL that's looking to compete with the weight of Johnny Cash's Cadillac title, and it's also nice that they don't have to call career 582 OPS Pedro Severino to pinch hit for career 579 OPS Cedric Mullins when the game is on the line.
  13. “You should not have to spend $6 on a hot dog. To me, that’s crazy.” Wait a minute .... Then don't sell them for that much - anywhere in the ballpark.
  14. That one bothered me the whole game ... Taking Buxton's legs out from under him seemed a poor decision .... Even if Kepler gets himself out, Buxton has a high percentage chance to be on third with the locked-in Polanco at the plate with 1 out ... Hope it is a learning moment
  15. Same. However, having him available for this type of situation is good. Rogers should be good to go to lock down the last two games, if the opportunity presents itself. Send Duffey back down and call the next one in line on the 40-man to eat some innings when their down or up big.
  16. I'm not the one in the box, so it's easier to say this from a bird's eye view, but I thought this really came into play last night against Toronto. He was up against a lefty who hasn't been able to hit the broad side of the barn and was just way too aggressive with a 3-0 count and eventually got himself out. Eddie wants to make noise, and it's always a joy when he does, but the game situation being down by two, a walk is as good as anything.
  17. Dobnak doesn't have the prospect shine, but he sure seems to get the job done for this organization. I hope he can keep moving up, pitching his game and find himself with a chance to play at Target Field someday. Please stay healthy, Bailey Ober. It's great to see him come back and pick up where he left off last season when he got hurt. Great to see those Miracle bats coming alive. Hopefully, Javier gets up to CR soon and can inject some energy into that lineup.
  18. Great post. Big picture perspective is often lost every time there is a loss. 92 wins is about what I've seen from the most positive of fans (I predicted 84 myself), so even in that scenario, this is going to happen 65 more times. The Twins will quickly run out of players to DFA and demote or coaches and managers to fire and demean, if the pitchforks come out every single time.
  19. I was thinking that Toronto may end up moving him near the trade deadline ... Might be worth a look .... However, he doesn't have a strong history of lasting long ... History shows he has a max of about 23 starts left this season ... Not sure how much I would give up on that gamble
  20. Pineda was great, especially not losing his cool after all the dink and dunk and umpire donk in the 3rd. Hope we get Garv-sauce and La Tortuga back tomorrow. This offense is much more potent with them in there.
