  1. Duffey in ... Blood pressure going up ... I should probably see someone about that malady.
  2. Watching Sabathia fall apart is a thing of beauty. I hope it continues for the rest of the season. It would be hilarious if he gets bumped from the playoff roster or forces NY to play with 24 for nostalgia and lose.
  3. With the way the Twins defense has been playing, is Stroman going to be successful in helping down the stretch? It seems he's pretty dependent on that. Is he going to be greeted at the door with a warning that his outbursts will not be welcome?
  4. Very interested, if that is the case.
  5. This team seems to be attempting to reel me back into believing, only to smash everything in front of me on the concrete during the next series and a probable playoff series. I do need to echo what Kris Atteberry stated several games ago. The best thing for the Twins is to keep Cleveland about 3-4 games away until the trade deadline. Keep them believing, so they won't trade Bauer or Hand for org altering prospects.
  6. I still have hope for Harper, but May has got to go.
  7. Fans should start booking the team against the Yankees tomorrow as soon as they take the field.
  8. Make May the sacrificial lamb ... DFA him after the game and say, "Turn it around. You never know who's next."
  9. Anyone hosting a May jersey burning after the game?
  10. Typical smug liberal-speak. Some day and probably already for many of us middle-right (probably alt-right to any lib) folks, we'll get sick of supporting equal housing opportunities, equal education opportunities, equal employment opportunities, accountability in law enforcement, healthcare reform that benefits way more people than the current system as long as it makes sense, a women's right to choose, et. al, while still being talked down to or labeled a "racist" for not summarily judging someone for displaying the stars and bars or for having little patience for the blabberspeak of AOC and her crew. When that happens, many will decide that this group over here is going to hate me and chastise me no matter what, while this group over here, while misguided, seems to be a bit more open and civil. What's going to happen? Trump 2020
  11. I very much agree with this take. I'm usually fairly calm when Harper goes in as well, although I do think he does have to be used in the correct situations. He's not a high pressure setup guy or anything. If he's deployed as a change-of-look/pace fireman or sent out to get an inning or inning+ worth of outs against a group of hitters that maybe don't fair as well against the off-speed, he can be effective in any game. One of May, Duffey or Magill is OK for me as the #7 or 8 guy, because they do have big league stuff. I just find myself asking the TV too many times, "Why did you throw that there?" with those three. None of them ever looks comfortable either. I hope they pass on offering Parker arbitration. I just don't see any upside. Littell has been great in every game except one. He walks a bit more and Ks a bit less than I'd like, but he has been able to induce the GIDP at decent rate. Definitely need a larger body of work before anointing him as a fix. So, yeah, they need three guys. I hope they trade for at least one who is controllable past this year. Internally, I'd like to see more Poppen in a shorter role and then Stashak. I'm not sure if this is the season for looking at both though.
  12. I agree that the Twins shouldn't give up a top prospect for a Greinke contract, but I also agree with Dome Dogg that now is the time for them stop being cheap and loosen the purse strings even more to be willing to take on a Greinke-type contract. Mauer is off the books. Polanco and Kepler just re-upped for relative peanuts. 2020 is going to require starting pitching aquisitions anyway. I'd offer Lewin Diaz, Matt Magill and they pay half the remaining deferred salary payments ($12.75 mill) ... The Twins should also negotiate when they want to pay the deferred $12.75 mill that they will be responsible to pay out. He also gets $2 mill for being moved. Arizona can pay that too. It would be a blockbuster for the Twins, if Greinke approved it. I don't know how much he hates the Twins, since he blocked them. I would think the playoff chase and young core with manageable committed money (even after taking on his deal) would be enough for him to push it through.
  13. I don't feel good about this matchup today. Nibbling Gibson plays right into the strength of Oakland: Patience.
  14. I like theses series previews. Thanks for doing them. One suggestion: Can you add the expected pitching matchups? I realize that it may be TBD a lot, but it's good info. Thanks again!
  15. Baldelli: "80 is the new 100. You start to consider things like heat exhaustion on a day like today. Martin wanted to sit in front of a fan with his blanket, so I didn't want to upset him.
  16. DFA May and try someone else ... Also Baldelli needs to stop the ultra-coddling ... Pulling guys at 70-80 pitches when they're effective is just nonsense when you hand the ball to someone like rubberneck May
  17. That's because you and others of your leaning around here tend to post as if you are conveying absolute truth instead of opinion. My original post regarding this was simply to point out that just because subject group A used symbol B, that doesn't mean that all who use symbol B have the same views as subject group A. Having spent a fair amount of time around ground zero of the conflict that symbol B may be attached to for some, I feel quite strongly that the paint-by-number picture that you and others are attempting to paint has more than the two numbers. I had to say it that way, because the typical analogical statement would probably end up in me being called a racist. That's how over-sensitive I feel people are these days. "Just some good ol' boys, never meanin' no harm" = IMO, 95+%
  18. Schoop to the IL? Arraez needs to be in the lineup every day.
  19. That guy needs to be in there every game
  20. Not to be flippant or negative, but it's funny how these things work themselves out
  21. I think maybe Twins guy hit home run and we do are cheering
  22. Someone thinks Schoop is still good
