  1. If Ozuna has lost an edge defensively, wouldn't you move him to first and keep Kepler in the outfield?
  2. Luis Arraez should be the Twins leadoff hitter for at least the next five seasons, unless he gets moved to bring in pitching.
  3. These lists .... I wonder if the FO actually attempted to move Gordon, Gonsalves or Romero at any point. I guess Romero still has a prayer. Gonsalves is, of course, already gone. Even if Gordon eventually hits the show, his MO has been to struggle after a promotion or peter out in the second half. This isn't the year to allow for that.
  4. Those numbers look eerily similar to the second half numbers of the backup catcher we signed for 2020, albeit for $2 mill less than what Castro got. .185/.306/.359 ---- .654 OPS ---- 4 HR, 7 RBI and 44 K in 92 AB. Gotta save that money! JP probably has his eyes on the new Rolls-Royce Phantom.
  5. Since Castro signed with the Angels, your odds of dating Scarlett Johansson are now infinitely better than him signing with the Twins. Best of luck!!
  6. I wouldn't lose much sleep over Harper being DFA'd to bring in Harris. It was a good story to see a 30 year old rookie finally realize his dream and then be effective for a good part of the season, but Harris is proven even if aging.
  7. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/01/latest-on-josh-donaldson-3.html Earlier on, it sounded like Donaldson was giving the Braves the opportunity to "come close" or match other offers. This isn't a good development as far as the Twins are concerned.
  8. ... and Eloy Jimenez. Granted, the Twins didn't have back-to-back prospects putting up video game numbers at AAA.
  9. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/01/domingo-german-reportedly-facing-significant-suspension.html Keep it coming! 81 Game suspension.
  10. That often empty "connected" word is still being used with the Twins and Will Harris. I'm not sure if that is interest is still there or if an offer still exists, especially now that Romo and Clippard are in the fold. If a Harris union occurs, I wonder where he would fit in this pecking order. Is he in the May/Duffey section or the Romo/Clippard section (his age would place him there, if that matters). Talk about bullpen depth! I'd guess Stashak would be ticketed for Rochester in that scenario. The popular take might be to just cut Wisler, but I think that idea is probably only popular outside the walls of the FO.
  11. Perez has the same haircut as Bailey, but Bailey's is slightly better.
  12. I thought it was lipstick, but I see where you're going.
  13. How do you know that the FO didn't look at Stroman's GB% and think "this isn't going to work very well with our infield"? Like Keuchel, I don't think he's a good fit here. Also, at this point, won't the deadline market likely have more stock on the shelves. I can listen to the sentiment that the team won't do anything anyway when the deadline rolls around, but the current market (FA or Trade) doesn't look high on the "impact" stock anyway at least relative to actual availability or cost in either long term payroll flexibility or prospects. The interesting names seem to be on teams that want to see where their team is at (Ray and Gray) or don't want to sell low based on a bad half or full season (Archer and Boyd).
  14. If the Twins are so lucky as to land Donaldson, the real miracle will be the empath Baldelli ego-whispering JD and Dick Mountain.
  15. I would hope that these signing don't have any effect on the Donaldson pursuit. Winning 10-7 is still winning. It isn't sustainable, but it gives them until the deadline at least.
  16. Yeah, Kuechel would challenge the single season BABIP record with the current INF defense. Zero interest here as well.
  17. Is it too soon to make jokes about Target Field's fanny pack policy?
  18. 44.5% career. Yes, but not extreme. I would have personally paid the extra $2 mill for fly ball boy Gausman, but who knows if he wanted to come here.
  19. Would the Red Sox take Homer Bailey and Rich Hill? I hear Rich Hill is from the area and would approve the trade.
  20. Didn't want to go three years? Falvey thinking Duran and Dobnak better options long term? (Going with guys he acquired)
  21. That part is a bit frustrating, but the silver lining is that they will have the early part of the season to see if the likes of Thorpe, Dobnak, Smeltzer or Graterol can be part of that long term solution. It would be nice if the Bailey contract had an option. Early report doesn't look that way though. Short term, I believe Bailey is a clear upgrade over Perez. Hill is better than Gibson, if healthy. That, of course, is the big question.
  22. High chance he goes on the 60-day IL out of the gate .... Those incentives are pretty creative and work well for both team and player.
  23. Good deal. Both one year. Bailey can be the Jeremy Guthrie. Hill can get healthy and then be the Johnny Cueto, or he can not get healthy and the Twins will have to do a deadline deal. 2020 Twins could be the 2015 Royals. Except power instead of speed.
  24. You make a good point, but Kepler didn't have the benefit of being a first round pick that just automatically got ranked high without ever producing.
