  1. there's nothing bad to say about Z.Granite or this deal. There was no way he was gonna crack into this roster at this time. This is one I have to give Falvine credit for. I have been very critical of them about last year. I'm not afraid to give them credit when it is due. He now has enough time to maybe get a chance with the Rangers.
  2. i cant speak for everyone but I know when i was 26 and defiant and proud, i had times when i wanted to prove some doubters were wrong about me. If this has motivated him then so be it. Whatever comments he has made, lets not over analyze them. It's a young man speaking. Most importantly let's look at the loyalty and commitment they show to his teammates and the organization(i.e. us the fans).
  3. i feel like he's aight. Of course we are all impatient to see him be a Superstar. I bet he is harder on himself than anybody else is. After all the frustration of last year, i guess I would have expected him to act way worse than he is. I know the Twins arent the only ones to use the service time manipulation loophole, but i just think the ownership group will end up really regretting these kind of little tricks. The players as a whole arent forgetting.
  4. it feels so good to see Buxton and the rest of the team have some success!
  5. that sounds just fine by me....the option thing means a lot more than people wanna admit. Someone has to really fall on their face if they are out of options. The mysterious shoulder problem that Adrianza has makes the decisions even easier barring a superstar performance by someone like Duda. It means the position player battles more clearly defined. The bullpen is a way different story.
  6. I like this version very much as well. I dont know why I always think our guys wont clear waivers. I guess its because I really dont wanna risk losing any of them. Deep down i am rooting for Austin to get down and straight up beat Cron out. Adrianza's shoulder problem (i just heard about it too) just made the roster decisions easier. I'm glad i dont have to sort out our bullpen situation.
  7. I know its not just you ....why does it seem like 29 games of decent play makes you a lock to a guaranteed roster spot the next year? Austidillo is no Marwin Gonzalez. If Austidillo can flat out beat out Garver at second catcher he makes the team. If not he sees about Rochester. Its all about options. Consequently if Buxton doesnt fall on his face last year Cave never even visits Target Field. The only thing Austin proved to me last year(besides that he can't hit rh pictching) is that he can't beat out Neal Walker at 1B. If he doesnt beat out Cron, He GONE. Adrianza prolly will start off on the DL. I could see an opening bench of Cave, Gonzalez, Garver, and Astudillo to open but when Adrianza comes back and when we go to 13 pitchers, Cave and Astudillo are back to Rochester.
  8. Whenever i look at the team assembled i was so scared of the situation at 3b. I sooo cheer for Sano and hope he will finally get it this year. IMO having Cruz and to some extent Schoop around will help him immensely. I did not know about Adrianza's injured shoulder. It does seem a little odd that it requires 6-8 months for recovery but it is what it is. This actually makes the Gonzalez signing make even more sense. I have been screaming for the team to acquire an insurance policy at 3b all winter. I felt there would be no chance at Gonzalez so i focused on players like Moustakas. To get Marwin makes us better in so many ways that cant be seen on paper anal-lytically. The one i am thinking of first is that 2017 World Series ring and the experience he gained being a part if it. Now things just changed for Everyone. Jake Cave prolly start the year in Rochester. Adrianza will go on the 60 day I.L. Tyler Austin, you better make sure you pay attention in outfield drills and prove you can at least once in a while hit rh pitching. CJ Cron is on thin ice because your job is up for grabs big time. Mitch Garver you are not safe either. If Austidillo straight up beats you out you are a Red Wing. Rocco, making out this line-up is gonna be an amazing and fun challenge. At the end of the day we dont wanna lose any of these players and we will do whatever we can to keep them all. Sorry Austidillo and Cave fans, but those guys go to AAA mainly because they are the only ones with options. I doubt there will be any eye popping surprises. Now the bullpen....Thats a vastly different story.
  9. I am so ECSTATIC I dont know where to start!!! First lets all recognize it as a double edge sword...Not only did we get him...we kept him away from the team that needed him the most...The Indians. IMO we just became the obvious favorites to win the AL Central. As sad as i was to see Escobar get traded I am equally elated to welcome Marwin. It is the absolute best move made by this regime and I have to go on record as saying Thank you Mr Falvey and Mr Levine. I am an Old School fan(since 1970) and what excites me more than the versatility, attitude and offensive skills is the presence in the Clubhouse of a World Series Champion. When these young guys learn how Champions conduct their daily business the results could be AMAZING. I get the focus on Analytics is merited. Team Chemistry still cannot be overlooked. (see 2018 Red Sox) Marwin didn't come join us to watch the World Series, He came to show us how to win another one!
  10. are you ****en serious....Moustakas was available until ....today
  11. Gonzalez....because i dont trust Sano yet
  12. Moustakas should be our 3b and Gonzalez our Adrianza. This makes too much sense for the FO to do it.
  13. am i the only one that cant understand why we dont at least make an offer to Moustakas or Gonzalez?
  14. Besides the PED thang....I would argue to anyone watching that Jorge is better than Sano or Buxton. Rosario better watch out too. I cant wait till Nelson Cruz takes Polanco under his wing!.
  15. I feel that Hildenberger is just another example of a young dude with a live arm who would have benefitted from the experience of having someone like Rodney around. The feeling is that he has closer stuff. Having a veteran closer around him would be so clutch same as it would for Rodgers, Moya, Magill, and even Reed. Its too bad the genius Falvine's dropped the ball AGAIN.
  16. I think he's been a solid player ever since he has had the chance to play every day. Plus speed and a productive bat kind of offsets his defensive shortcomings. At this point we dont have another choice. Hitting him leadoff, we would be better off than a bunch of teams.
  17. You are right about Adrianza....I am just worried about Sano's durability and maybe with a veteran guy like Gonzalez you can give everybody including Polanco and Schop a day off and lose Nothing offensively or defensively. Marwin could win the job at short too!
  18. I totally agree. Asdrubal is just the kind of glue needed to hold this together if Sano flakes out or if something happens to Polanco or Schoop.
  19. for 3.5 million I am sure it was a steal. Are you aware we still owe Phil Hughes 5.3 million? If you are a true fan you don't just hand the ball to Pineda and Mejia every 4th and fifth day without making them both earn it. And as far as Perez is concerned, what happens if Rogers blows his arm out? Or Moya is ineffective? I guess we should just dismiss the fact that there are left handed hitters in the major leagues that can hurt you.(in games that matter)...I saw one post where someone said Perez has a live arm. I have see him in spring training for 5+ years and that is true. If he puts it all together you will see. Either way its a STEAL.
  20. That may be right....I am happy they at least adress the issues I see as obvious. Look, Im Falvine's worst critic...this is a smart move. Don't stop yet, but at least its a smart baseball decision. Doesn't mean we shouldnt have Marwin Gonzalez and maybe even Kimbrell....but...Im like DO SOMETHING...and they are.
  21. yes you are right how silly of me. To advance in the playoffs you will never have to face Benintendi, Brantley, Calhoun, Chapman, Odor, Gregorius, I mean sure ....somewhere we're gonna need somebody to get lefties out? Ask your bosses what they were thinking about it. Obviously they think we need one. Why is Moya even in the major leagues? I am dumbfounded at the moment. I get it that the FO has taken lots of heat but for 3.5mil a year Perez is a Steal. He has 6 years experience on a major league staff. Stop acting like its your money I'M TRYING TO SPEND!
  22. This is a case where, and I know I will be corrected if and when Im wrong, but I have always seen potential in Perez. The need for another lefty starter has always been there, we all know it. At the very least he comes in as our #4 with open competition between Mejia and Pinedá for the 5th spot. At worst he is another lefty we can use to eat innings and push Moya and Rogers. This is a nice move that adds depth where we are in trouble with the injury histories of Mejia and Pineda. Having Johnson around may help a lot to increase Perez's velocity just in case all the Anal-lyticists were wondering. Dont stop Thadek....bullpen and middle infield....(gonzalez)(gonzalez)(gonzalez)(gonzalez)
