  1. is it just me or is it kind of silly to add a bunch of power bats then refuse to upgrade 1-2 bullpen spots, at least one starter or a left handed bat that can be insurance if Sano flakes out again? We can leave it alone and be a .500 team, or address the obvious and win 90-95. Simple.
  2. So there and es the question freed up payroll means more money in the owner's pocket and in Falvine's christmas bonus checks. Now Jed Lowrie is gone too....if you believe Duran, Smetzer, Celestino, Raley, Dejong, Tyler Austin, or whoever they got for Rodney straight up was improving the team or putting the organization in the right direction then id like to see how. I am sure i heard a commment from the FO after these trades suggesting how the transactions free up enormous amounts of payroll to upgrade the team via free agency in 2019
  3. Here's the thing...am i the only one who got the impression that the explanation for last years fire sale was to free up payroll so that we could "keep our options open" during the 2019 FA signing period? It sounds like all the Falvine yes men think they have some master plan to turn our team into Perrennial World Series Contenders. Im not sure I believe all that, but it wouldn't have taken a great deal of effort to see that the class if free agents available this off season would be rich in middle infielders. To a novice unexperienced fan such as myself, an obvious choice is Marwin Gonzalez. Hmm lets see switch hitter, plays 3b, 2b, SS, 1b, and corner outfield for sure. Has anybody seen his exit velocity numbers for the second half last year? Wow!!! That is a no brainer and he has not been linked to ANY other team yet. If we have all the payroll flexibility our FO claims they achieved with all the lopsided trades be at the deadline then why havent we made a serious offer to Gonzalez? It's obvious we cannot count on Pineda ir Mejia. At least not yet. Why arent we talking about a veteran LH starter? Miley, Gio Gonzalez, or Derek Holland? If Mr Falvine is such a pitching guru why arent we talking to C.Allen, T.Sipp, A.Ottavino etc...etc..Signing Nelson Cruz sent a message age we are serious in 2019. To do nothing since then reminds me of the Griffith era when we were lied to and manupulated to sway public opinion in the FO's favor. Do Something Quick Please!!! The window is closing on us.
  4. Wade Miley
  5. It is now all on Derek and Thad. As a fan for life I wanna know where our bullpen help and fifth starter are. Shame on our expert front office if they force a new manager to go into spring training with a roster in a constant state of influx.
  6. it Was a one year deal and we could have got him back like the Rangers did for 2019. Everyone excuse me if my memory was skewed a tad about Santana. I just remember the post game press conference when he criticized the FO for all the trades. It only reinforces my stand on why do we throw him out there for even five starts and then shut him down. Why? Was he hurt all that time? Was he a bad influence? You could probably ask Molitor, but if you are in love with Falvine then asking Molitor would hardly give you the answer you wanted.
  7. And ...ive said it before....Lance Lynn had no spring training last year. He was arguably the best starter we had up until he was traded. Look at the line he had on the day they traded Escobar to the D-Backs. He won a 3-2 game AT Fenway Park. Man! He sure would look good as our #4 starter with Pineda #5. its too late now...just like it is with Ervin (dont call me Johann) Santana
  8. Ervin Santana is a gamer and he, like Cruz would help any team. Lets ask Berrios how much he learned from being around Santana. After he was shut down last year for comments he made after he had just pitched 5 2/3 innings is one of the reasons i question the common sense of the "new" FO. ITS LIKE ....DONT EVER publically question our knowledge or decisions. If he was so still injured why the H€LL did you just throw him out there? He's never coming back here as long as Falvine pulls the puppet strings.
  9. The trend now is for the highest OPS to bat second because some analyticanalyist decided they come up more times late in games....Cruz has to be the number 2 and between who's on a roll Sano, Cron, and Schoop can move up and down.
  10. gotta be .... Polanco SS (s) Cruz Dh ® Rosario Lf (l) Sano 3b ® Kepler Rf (l) Schoop 2b ® Cron 1b ® Castro C (l) Buxton Cf ® i wouldnt change it much even if Cave wins the starting job or if Garver starts against left handed pitching. I will say though if Buxton doesnt start at Target Field then he will be somewhere else. Rochester, Pensacola, or?. He wont be on the bench as a Minnesota Twin.
  11. what about a proven lefty starter? Gio, Wade Miley, or Keuchel? I still wanna see us get a utility guy a la M.Gonzalez, or even Dietrich...2-3 more moves is not out if the question
  12. I just wanna see us Win....You can show me all the alalytics until your throat cracks but Championships are still won with Team Chemistry! If you dont believe me just ask Alex Cora or any member of the 2018 Boston Red Sox.
  13. And of Course Sano would play against lefty starters...thats the only time we would need him!!!.....also the lineup looks like 13 players only because i have Adrianza and Kepler as backups at more than one position. I know for a fact Kepler has experience at first base. Garver too for that matter.. Plug any decent left handed bat into that equation and it is FIERCE. Marwin Gonzalez is a switch hitter and he plays a little 3rd base too. He only played left field last year because some one of Houstons prospects bombed or got hurt or something. He's a utility Infielder just like the one we used to have.
  14. Ladies and Gentlemen i didnt say anything about a platoon or Moose being a backup. IMO Sano can earn his job back just like Buxton is gonna have to do. Moustakas had been an all star more than once AND....he has a RING. Sano can back up 3rd, 1st, and DH.
  15. 1b-Cron or Kepler 2b-Schoop or Adrianza Ss-Polanco/Adrianza 3b-Sano or Moustakas C-Castro & Garver Dh-Cruz Of-Rosario, Buxton, Kepler, and Cave... it's a 12 man position roster..Perfect!...I am sure Moose can play a little first base as well and he must be a good defender be at 3b because TheBrewCrew moved Shaw to second before they got Schoop last year.
  16. Man C.K...we don't need to trade Anybody to get Moustakas' left handed bat into the mix...we could get him for 1 year and ten Mil. I bet. And I think that would be a bargain! The Brewers arent bringing him back because they already have Shaw.
  17. here's what the rest if the league be thinks...Even after signing Cruz, are Twins poised to make more moves? Dec. 27: The Twins reportedly landed veteran slugger Nelson Cruz on Thursday to be their designated hitter, adding more power after already claiming C.J. Cron -- who hit 30 homers last season -- off waivers, and signing Jonathan Schoop to a contract after he was non-tendered by the Brewers. But could the Twins add even more to narrow the gap with the Indians in the American League Central? According to Jeff Joyce of MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, they have the wherewithal to do so. "I think one of the intriguing things about the Twins that a lot of people have not paid attention to is their payroll flexibility that they have going into this year," Joyce said. " ... They were able to shed a ton of payroll, especially the Joe Mauer contract, $23 million there. Ervin Santana, they said goodbye to him, that's $13 million there. You started with Brian Dozier there last year, $9 million, Logan Morrison [at] $5.5 million. They shed around $50 million in payroll and they don't have one -- not one -- guaranteed contract [on the books after next season]." It remains to be seen if the Twins are aggressive in further upgrading the roster during the rest of this offseason, but they certainly appear to have the potential to shake things up in the AL Central.
  18. I believe in Odirizzi....for the Rays he was always tough....he will be aight...With him, Gibson and Berrios we are ok...we need a couple comeback type starters like Miley or Gonzalez(Gio) as insurance for Pineda and Mejia if they falter. An established closer and a utility guy like Marwin would be icing on the cake man! We have to feel pretty good about our middle relief....at least i dont think Belisle will be out there!
  19. I have to say I was hard on the FO at last years trading deadline....I was very disappointed, but I have always thought Cruz was a real force even before his playoff heroics for the Rangers. We coulda done way Way worse....This dude can still play RF I'd bet! The impact he will have on guys like Sano and Polanco will just make it sweeter. We just landed the Blue Chip of the 2018 FA Class.(I wonder if Marwin Gonzalez noticed it yet....)
  20. Left handers D.Pomerantz, Keuchel, Gio Gonzalez, Wade Miley, and righty Josh Tomlin are available as are relievers Zach Britton, David Robertson, Adam Ottavino, and Hunter Strickland as well as Allen from the Indians! Besides Marwin Gonzalez we could still get Dietrich from the Marlins(a lefty bat) or Harrison from Pittsburgh.
  21. To get a guy like that this early...wow...lets just hope that we dont stop the struggle now. Our struggle is real. Im no way satisfied with our options at third base. We could use a decent closer and let May, Hildenberger, Rogers, Moya, and Reed be what they are as well. Decent set up guys and situational guys. I wonder why we dont hear much about Moustakas? His bat would fit nice between Cron, Cruz, Schoop and Sano's along with Polanco, Kepler, and Rosario. Kelvin Herrera knows this division and I believe he does have closing experience. Cave is a decent 4th outfielder and Garver is fine with Castro. There are plenty of quality arms out there that we can easily afford short term while the younger group progresses. Look what the A's did with Edwin Jackson, Trevor Cahill, and Mike Fiers last year. I dont see Keuchel as an ace but be what a great 3 or 4 guy. Just like we should have let Lance Lynn be. Don't stop now FO!!!
  22. It was the right move and it couldnt have come at a better time to make it. Austin nor Cron are no Nelson Cruz. Schoop for that matter either. Now those guys can be what they are...complimentary pieces to a decent offense.
  23. wow....our starting 3b.....maybe falvine can magically turn logan forsythe into a third baseman
  24. Maybe i should clarify my esteemed columnist sir....i have a hang nail and i cant type about the loser twins right now
