  1. Well, at least he plays a mean harmonica. |:
  2. Denny Green was an interesting guy. RIP by the way. This sound bite was always my favorite. http://www.hark.com/clips/qydgcwxnzt-calcutta-clipper
  3. Is that how you would approach it?
  4. I hope that is not the case. It appears that Islamic State has changed tactics and this kind of thing is going to be a regular occurrence for an undetermined amount of time. I hope greater minds prevail.
  5. Sorry about that Chi. Missed it. I should be more thorough before I post.
  6. Do you folks think that a strong part of his popularity could be tied to his decade of having his own reality show? I remember in the late nineties when those kind of TV shows started to ramp up, there were some serious concerns amongst me and my cohorts that Reality TV was an effective tool to dumb people down. I have never watched "The Apprentice", but I could see where people who don't have much going on for them on many levels just become fanatics and absolutely believe what they are seeing on TV is the absolute truth. Hence, their love, and dedication to Trump. I know it is not the sole reason for this crummy phenomenon, but I can definitely see it being a factor. When I think of Reality TV shows, the first things that pop in my mind are Trailer Parks, wife beater undershirts, Miller High Life... I think I should probably stop there.
  7. Trump is a B.S. artist as we all know and I agree with Pseudo that he was not going to "F" up this speech in an all to important moment. But let us not forget that on this very thread, a few, but not too many moons ago, that many of us were saying and maybe exclaiming that there was no way in hell he would get the Republican Nomination for President. The guy has some kind of force field over him and nothing he says that is awful, racist and stupid has much of a negative impact on him... it's mind boggling. Clinton has the email baggage on her and it is ripe right now, but we do have some time for things to happen and change - hopefully the DNC goes good. This Trump thing is a frickin' mind ****.
  8. Hey Willi. I am not trying to be anal or anything, but he was not commissioner for either of the Twins WS Wins. He was Baseball Commish from April 1, 1989 - September 1, 1989 (the day he died).
  9. I was wondering where my frickin' sunglasses were.
  10. At first I was intrigued because the title is not in it's entirety on the front page. That's all. False alarm.
  11. I think all of the Joe haters should go picket Target Field and get their voices across. This evil, evil man signed a contract when he was in his prime and for the most part, it did not work out, he set a precedent, he was the one and only 100 million dollar man contract that didn't work out. How unholy and we are all the victims. Some one needs to be lynched or burned on the cross! Mauer hate is foolish, it's fish food for small minds. I'd like to think at some point we all were fans of this guy. Probably too many concussions and his big body broke down. Too many people are stuck on the money and 2009, think back to that time and jerk it all you want. It's not coming back. He was an elite player for us for many years. He was tremendous. There is a lot of hate out there right now and it has no good outcome. The Joe Mauer wet dream years are over. Move on, please. Please! Dwelling in the past is counter productive. Look to the future. Spend your time on sorting out that enchilada.
  12. Be thankful you are not incarcerated in a prison full of Joe Mauer clones, it harkens me back to a scene from the movie "American History X" or Shawshank Redemption" or "American Me"... take your pick.
  13. I've said it before and I will say it again. I love myself an El Nunez, no matter the destruction it causes!
  14. But you are pretty much correct. From 1989-1993 in H.S., not much was taken in or offered.
  15. I think you misinterpreted what the smiley face meant.
  16. The benefit of attending a Public School is that they teach people like me to terrorize and kill people from private schools. The teachers are not part of that curriculum.
  17. I don't really care you gets the job as long as they come from a baseball organization with a dominant modern day baseball philosophy and they are able to assemble their own team of talent evaluators and talent developers. Names don't mean crap to me as long as they get the job done.
  18. This thread is the greatest!
  19. I like Molitor because I am a St. Pauli Girl, but Jim Pohlad throwing down that gauntlet will not get us the most optimal GM or head of baseball operations.
  20. I'm gonna switch gears here and say a few things that are meant with the utmost respect and sincerity. Any extreme in any religion is a headache, some bigger than others. This we all know. Nobody will reform Islam except for Muslims. Outsiders doing as such is just not realistic. But, as most will agree, it is awful to see the mass killings of all these people across the globe because of an extreme group of people that affiliate it with a religion. It's awful. It is a nightmare. It would be wise to welcome the refugees from countries that are governed by these Fascist Islamic Regimes with open arms and make a better effort to make there experience more of the American, Canadian, British, European, Australian dream. Governments and people of these western nations have failed these people. We need to get this right. All of these nations have other problems and that concept might fall off the list. It is apparent that needs to be a priority and never fall off of the list and needs to be executed all of the time. Maybe if we do these things, it will weaken Islamism, which is not spread by Theocrats, but by professionals like Doctors, Teachers, etc., etc... We certainly have Theocratic Governments on this Earth. In the end, I would like to see that eliminated, along with the Islamist groups who want to spread Super Conservative agendas about the religion to vulnerable regions. I'm not some dope kicking the can around in American and don't give a crap about what is going on globally. I grew up in the ghetto and seen the struggles of African Americans, Latino Americans, Southeast Asian Americans, and White Americans. There is no hope there. Usually people who come from that background are not on sites like this typing something whether it is good or bad. And it's not like I am some success story, for the most part I have failed in the decisions that I have made and now I am forced to go back to school as 41 year old person. I wanted to be established by this time in my life. Time is running out. Sorry, to drag my mess into this, but I am not going to delete it as it is venting my own frustrations along with my world frustrations and maybe it puts a little human light on me as I have been called a bigot on this thread in the last day+. I am no bigot, I only have posted on this thread because I care. All I want to see happen is inclusion for the displaced, hopefuls and dreamers and the end of all Theocracies.
  21. Sorry Bad Smerf.
  22. I believe this thread could have been ground breaking. We could of had a tremendous conversation. I Think our divides and perceptions killed us here. I think we should reflect upon this and maybe, be ashamed of ourselves and learn a lesson. To be honest, the divides were not that big at all. One voice was left on an island all by himself, and we did him no favors. The other side used terms that do not solve anything. I hope our next conversation can be more proactive. We are in this thing together, let's be helpful and understanding. Let's have some patience.
  23. I thought I would chime in here and say a few things. I have a great amount of respect for all of those who have taken part in this thread. There are a lot of very intelligent people here. I think Levi has taken an unnecessary amount of negativity on this thread for what he is trying to convey. He is not being smug, stubborn or holier than thou, just some of the terms that I feel were being directed his way. Leviathan is being passionate about this subject because he 150% believes in it and I do as well. I consider myself to be pretty damn far to the left, but I have never seen such a gaping wound in the world today as I see in the Muslim World. That does not represent all of the population that adheres to that religion, but it is a horrific problem, one that controls vast regions of this planet. It is only right for someone to want this problem addressed and to end the suffering of many, many millions of people all of which are Muslims. This thread isn't going to prevent many more deaths, things will continue to operate as they do in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan. Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., etc... It will be business as usual. Many more will die in the Western world as well, due to Islamic Terrorism. Heck, it could be one of us who is in the wrong place at the wrong time. I care about people. I care about the right outcome. I think people have good ideas on this subject on this thread, but what Levi is talking about is correct and a big part of the solution to this problem that none of us ever wanted or could have dreamed up 20 years ago. Most of us don't want to acknowledge it. I do understand, it's a tough situation. Saying that, I hope the collective of the Earth's citizens can fix this mess and the coming generations can live in peace and have the freedoms that we all deserve and demand. I commend Levi on his stance.
  24. No! Absolutely not. Sorry I have been a mess of responses tonight, I have guests over, my voice has been bad and diluted. We need to be united and fight this ideology!
