What do you do? Hold Gallo up at third was the right thing. He was rumbling and stumbling to third. would have been probably a dead duck. On the other hand, we don't take risk and nobody can pick Gallo up. It's great for the opposition.
Matt Olson has 80 strikeouts so far this season. Joey Gallo has 80 strikeouts this season.
Matt Olson has played in 21 more games than Joey Gallo this season.
I remember when guys like Jim Perry, Dave Boswell, Brade Radke, etc. would have 'elbow soreness" and still take their turn or maybe miss a start. Probably not the smartest thing to do, but they still went out and performed.
Brian snitker's before game talk to his team.
"Well boys, we got the Twins for three. Just let them do their thing for the first few innings. They'll eventually let us put some runs up on the board. We'll bring our bullpen guys in, and wrap the game up. Then we can get serious and go pound some beers".
Not sure but I would guess:
1. Better scouting at all levels
2.Better coaching on an individual basis.
3. Cutting the cord on prospects more quickly
4.Expose players to all aspects of physical play and mental approach, much more quickly.
Why does Detroit look like such a better team than their record indicates, when they play Minnesota.? coincidence?, better preparation? luckier? increased intensity?
