  1. Honestly don't know what to Lewis. Seems like the talent is there but a brutal last 12 months (when healthy). Selling this low - which I know you didn't suggest - wouldn't make sense.
  2. Awesome analysis. But Falvey holds the chips. If Anthony and Mayer aren't both included, no deal.
  3. 100% agree. If you trade Ryan, it's a complete rebuild. Button out, Duran out, Jax out, Jeffers out, Castro out. (Not sure anyone else 26+ on the roster has much value) I would not trade Ryan and his contract for anything less than the top 3 prospects of any team in the league.
  4. It a great article and what makes the site awesome. But what I'm perplexed by is folks thinking we have a great farm system but a 5'5 guy (not his fault) who played 1 year of D1 baseball, signed out of the independent leagues and has an OPS at AAA of .630 with zero power makes his way onto a prospect hot sheet. I love the movie Rudy as much as anyone, but this should not be a top prospect. And I agree with the poster below that said no need to rush Jenkins. Let him develop a bit more power at AA before pushing him up. Excited for his future for sure.
  5. By age 27 season Gallo had 157 HR's, a gold glove and all star game appearance. Wallner, at same age, has 37 HR's and is a below avg defender. Accepting poor performance because he's 'one of us' is why we're at where we're at.
  6. Because he is 27.5 yrs old and supposed to be a foundational player. No different than Correa and Lewis. Folks can complain about Kiersey, France, etc. MW was counted on and has failed miserably
  7. In any walk of life (business, sports, politics) stats can tell us what our bias want us to believe. If you truly watch Matt Wallner - and he is in his prime - and believe he should be Bucketed with superstars and mvp's, we simply could not disagree more.
  8. If at age 27, a career .238 avg and 37 home runs puts him in the top 10 of this franchise... I'm not sure if it speaks more about him, or the history of the Twins. id be interested to know who the top 9 were.
  9. If at age 27, a career .238 avg and 37 home runs puts him in the top 10 of this franchise... I'm not sure if it speaks more about him, or the history of the Twins. id be interested to know who the top 9 were.
  10. Couldn't believe my ears. Rays have guys on 1st and 2nd, no outs. They are bunting. I think it was Perkins tonight (?) says 'the twins don't practice or have a defense for this.' ??? Bunt, no one rotates to 3rd, so Lewis to 1st. Then no intentional walk? I don't rip Rocco but it was so basic and irritating.
  11. More embarrassing is the year by Wallner. If he wasn't 'from here' he'd be gone. There has to be someone in AAA or AA that can make contact with a baseball? A below average fielding corner outfielder, 27 yrs old,(almost 28) , hitting .200 isn't an MLB player. But I know many in this forum think otherwise. Not the biggest TK homer, but he would never play him.
  12. This post nailed it. Buxton, Ryan, Duran. That's the value. No contender would give a bag of chips for Larnach, Wallner, Bader, etc...
  13. Is this sarcasm? I'd love to read that also, as there are thousands of players who sacrificed greatly but never made it. (A la Costner in Bull Durham). But as a twins forum I think it's best to focus on outcomes, and performance-wise, he and the other 2010's simply didn't produce.
  14. It's not just Jay. The 2010's, aside from Buxton and Berrios were brutal 1st round picks. Hitting on 2 of 15, not good.
  15. correct. No. He has not had enough AB's to qualify as a starter so not sure where this top 20 stat comes from. Is it anyone with at least 1 plate appearance? nothing better than watching his bombs, much like Sano, Gallo, Arcia and yes I do tune in when he's up vs France, Bader, Clemons, etc. But he needs to turn it up, in a hurry. Hoping he does.
  16. Agree to disagree on his impact for the timing of our current roster. Fan apathy is enormous, (the worst I've seen in 10-15 years). If he brings the value you believe these teams would give, I simple say 'take it'. Roll with Larnach, E-Rob and Jenkins for 2-3 years. If Wallner puts more buts in seats than Larch's trade trevor. If there is a return to get, take it. In fairness, trading Wallner would admittedly be trading at an extremely low point. Appreciate the conversation
  17. You may want to check this year. But feel free to use the stats that fit your position. I absolutely hope Wallner can turn it around. But his age and production don't equate to a starting player on an above average team. We simply disagree he is integral to the twins future.
  18. How long must the longer term view be taken? 1 month, 1 year, 34 years? The team is vastly undermanned, has terrible coaching and Apathetic leadership. And what is 'fine' for Wallner, almost 28 and has 35 career home runs? and his strength is power. Does he get a 'longer view' since he's one of us? His stats are comparable to Kody Clemons. the team should sell any positive asset and rebuild. Not sure Wallner is one or not.
  19. Great article, thank you. Hope I'm wrong but I've never understood the Raya steam. CP's durability is a big red flag and Soto's injury is really concerning. and those are our 3 'high end' prospects. The should absolutely be sellers and hope to hit on some top talent to replenish. Duran would bring a very strong return to help jumpstart it.
  20. I would love nothing more than for him to turn it around because right now he has very little trade value and will be entering his age 28 season. His long home runs are a pleasure to watch, for sure, but more is needed from a corner OF'er on a winning team.
  21. He is almost 28 and has 35 career home runs. Would I love to see him in a home run contest or hitting slow pitch softball? Absolutely. But it's not translating to MLB. Next man up please, regardless of where he is from.
