  1. This. The Twins have lost 90+ games four years running. Aren't you guys tired of watching that happen? Don't you enjoy watching winning baseball? Just ride Pelfrey through the season and then let him walk. It's really not much of a loss.
  2. I agree that Pelfrey's value in trade isn't a lot, which is why I think the Twins should ride his hot hand through the season and keep trying to make a postseason run, or at least stay relevant for as long as possible. I'd be more interested to see what Milone might bring in trade... Possibly May if a decent young catcher can be found. If the Twins are still reeling on July 25th, then a Pelfrey trade might be in order.
  3. Despite their recent slide, the 2015 Twins achieved their 35th win in game 65 of the season. In 2014, it required 73 games to reach the 35 win mark.
  4. Yeah, this is what I don't really understand. The Twins are a worse team if Sano is in the field. So why are we in such a rush to not only put him in the field but to put him at a position he's never played? Slot him into DH and give him spot starts at third to keep him fresh. Reevaluate after the season is complete. I'm not sure people understand that if you put Sano in the outfield, he'll probably be a worse overall player than Arcia (potentially considerably worse). With Oswaldo, you can basically bank on bad defense and a 100 OPS+. With Sano, you can't even bank on that much. He could be an epically bad fielder and he might not have a league average bat in 2015. Look at Eduardo Escobar. He's small, fast, and naturally athletic enough to play a pretty decent shortstop... and he's comical in the outfield despite having logged ~30 innings there professionally before the season started (which means he has practiced routes, throwing, etc. in years past).
  5. I'd move Santana to the pen before I moved Pelfrey. Mike earned his spot. Ervin got busted for PEDs.
  6. Yeah, maybe Rubio. Paul is the right equivalent of Sanders. Decent ideas (with some bad mixed in), strong principles, completely unelectable.
  7. If there was ever a legitimate reason to move to Canada, that scenario is it. You know things are bad when Clinton is the most appealing candidate on the list. The GOP field is a joke and the Democrats aren't much better. Bernie Sanders is the only person I find remotely interesting on the left and he's completely unelectable. Interesting guy, decent ideas, strong principles, completely unelectable. On the right, there's Trump, Cruz, Walker, Fiorina, and Bush. Every single one of them is unelectable for various reasons. Trump because he's a clown, Cruz because he's a polarizing clown, Walker because facepalm, Fiorina because "LOL, she's joking, right?", and Bush because "sweet Jesus not another one". This *should* be a perfect chance for someone sane like Jon Huntsman to swoop in and disrupt the GOP field but after what the party did to him in 2012, I don't see that happening. And that's a damned shame. The GOP needs someone to step up with a voice of sanity if they want the Presidency.
  8. I see it on a pretty regular basis but maybe that's just me. ... I never pass low-hanging fruit.
  9. I'd run him out there maybe twice a week and see what happens. If it's a disaster, scale it back to once a week. Then again, the Twins have a good idea of what to expect from Miguel Sano defensively. We're just kinda guessing.
  10. It depends on how important 2015 is to you. Miguel Sano at third and Trevor Plouffe at DH will result in more 2015 losses. That's pretty much a given. Miguel Sano at third once or twice a week with Plouffe rotating over to first will result in less 2015 losses, which is why it's my preferred course of action. The more Plouffe is playing infield, the better the Twins will be defensively and it will result in more wins.
  11. Trevor Plouffe at third base in 2011 is nothing like Trevor Plouffe at third base in 2015. He's a drastically different player. Trevor Plouffe's DRS by year (2011-2015): -14.7, -11.0, -6.6, 7.8, 1.0 Notice a trend?
  12. Eduardo Escobar is a pretty good shortstop. In the outfield... Well, you know. Maybe not so much. And Escobar isn't pushing three bills on the training scale.
  13. If that's the case, then you give the guy an entire offseason to prepare for the outfield. Again, right now Miguel should be focusing on hitting and positions he has played. Keep the distractions to a minimum.
  14. Oh, I get it... I'm just taking a swipe at the rest of the Twins roster, who have (mostly) been varying levels of unwatchable in June.
  15. It's easy to get Sano reps in the field without disrupting him too badly. Once a week, rotate Plouffe and Sano at 3B/DH (or give Plouffe the occasional day off against a righty). Once a week, sit Mauer, rotate Plouffe over to first, and slide Miguel to third. Problem solved and Miguel gets to focus on third base and hitting. No distractions. BONUS POINTS: Mauer gets to sit once a week and hopefully sort out his current issues.
  16. Plouffe has played several games at first this season. I think it's madness to make Miguel learn the position on the fly when you have a perfectly acceptable alternative that doesn't involve jerking around an elite prospect who needs to focus on third base and hitting.
  17. I like the enthusiasm. Byron Buxton is coming! ... And the rest of the Twins are also playing. I think. Not really sure. Who cares? Byron Buxton is coming!
  18. And that's fair. I don't want to see Plouffe lose his job to an untested prospect but thankfully, that's not an issue because every DH the Twins tried out in 2015 has loudly declared that they do not want the job. At least that's how it looks from here. The DH job is basically Miguel's for the taking.
  19. Or, again, you could just put Trevor in right once a week if you must. It makes waaaaaay more sense than putting Miguel out there. Trevor has played OF in the past and it won't detract from him spending time figuring out how to hit MLB pitching. Everything takes time and there are only so many hours in a day. Sano should be spending his days snagging balls at third and practicing in the cage to become the best MLB player possible, not running around the OF frantically trying to to learn a position he's never played and doing it at the highest level in the sport. Every minute Miguel spends in the outfield is a minute he's not practicing his footwork at third or talking to Bruno about hitting. Consider that and then tell me how this OF business is a good idea again.
  20. So now you want Sano to learn TWO new positions while figuring out MLB pitchers. Seriously, guys, honest question because I don't understand what's going on here. How do you not see how terrible an idea this is? If you absolutely must shuffle someone around the diamond, shuffle Plouffe. At least he has experience at the positions in question and is established enough that it won't get into his head. You don't do that to an elite prospect. You just don't.
  21. Yeah, this. Why are we even considering this? What is the gain here? Getting Miguel three more ABs a week? Hell, if that's your objective, put Plouffe in right once a week and Sano at third. That way you're not screwing with an elite prospect for no bloody reason.
  22. I will be shocked if Sano gets time in the OF. In case some of you haven't noticed, the Twins have a DH who's hitting like Ben Revere, except without the contact.
  23. Yes. For the love of God, yes.
  24. Considering that Miguel has never played an inning in the outfield, I'm almost certain the Twins would prefer to put almost anybody else out there. I listened to this board relentlessly attack the Twins for putting infielders in the outfield - guys who had at least PLAYED there before - and now we're saying they should do it again? People are losing their damned minds right now. This is ridiculous.
  25. Why shuffle everything so much and confuse the situation? Just put Sano at DH and spot start him at third. That way you're not compromising defense and moving guys out of position for no real reason.
