  1. Not really. When he was good, his BB/9 was 3.0. It has been around 5.0 the past three partial seasons and his ERA has reflected it.
  2. I don’t know about that. I think he’ll get the hook earlier if things don’t improve. Remember, he was expected to be on the field late last year. An injury set that back. The front office didn’t plan on him working back to MLB shape through half the 2019 season.
  3. Bah. Oh well, that pitch count sure is ugly going forward.
  4. The wheels on the bus go round and round...
  5. I’d give him another month before weighing options. It’s not as if the Twins have better options available before mid-June anyway.
  6. If the front office is confident Stroman is for real, Graterol should be on the table. But that really depends how they view Stroman.
  7. He’s not a significant upgrade over Pineda?
  8. The dragon death was BS and lazy. The fleet emerged from a bay surrounded by hills. No way does Dany assault from the front. Hide the dragons behind the hills, flank the fleet from both sides, and decimate it in one pass before anyone in the ships can even train their weapons on the targets. The entire dragon strategy has been awful this entire season. Time and time again, it requires rampant stupidity by Dany and/or Jon to make them ineffective.
  9. Yeah, pretty much all of this. The show is really letting me down right now. First off, Cersei. The show spent too much time showing how incompetent she is. When the Golden Bank backed her again, all I could say is "why?" It doesn't make sense. Banks survive through repayment and giving Cersei all she wants is gambling, not actual banking. Two big problems I see: 1. The Night King was a bait-and-switch. He had no backstory, no real story at all, just a Big Bad coming to get the good guys. And then they displace him pretty quickly and all is better now. Which brings us around to fighting Cersei again, ugh... 2. The real battle - and one far more interesting than dumb ass Cersei Lannister - is Jon versus Daenerys. It's a battle neither wants to fight but is basically inevitable, as everyone around them is drawing battle lines whether the two lovebirds want it or not. It's an interesting battle because it's one with no clear sides and certainly no good versus bad.
  10. It's not quite as bad as it sounds. The morning is intense (both in the start time and necessary maintenance) but once you get around 3-3.5 hours of a brisket, there is absolutely zero reason for it to stay in a smoker. The smoke has penetrated the bark and the smoker's work is done. Take that sucker out of the smoker, put it in the oven for the rest of the day, and go do something else. And most other smoked food takes waaaaayyyyyy less time than a brisket, maybe 3-ish hours tops.
  11. I think "no car payment" is a bridge too far and unreasonable for most people but Americans spend waaayyyyy too much on cars and take loan terms that are far too long. The average loan term has increased to around 65 months. That's five and a half years. Most financial experts I've read say that if you can't pay off a car in three years, you're buying too much car and need to scale back. The interest paid on a 5+ year loan is so much more than a three year loan and you're paying it into a product that depreciates enormously year over year. Long-term car payments are one of the worst ways a person can spend their money and Americans do it in massive numbers.
  12. It’s probably time to admit we were wrong, the front office was right. This isn’t luck, this is change of approach. He’s throwing his fastball 2mph faster, basically ditched the slider, and added a cutter. Perez is a different guy now. He’s likely not THIS good but he could be quite good going forward. On top of helping fix Perez, this front office deserves extra kudos for having such faith in their ability to improve him that they added a second option year to the deal.
  13. Wow. That’s the worst slash line I’ve ever seen.
  14. I also expected Podrick to get offed.
  15. Sano can definitely be better than an .850 OPS, I was just using that as a baseline of what a “good” Sano should do on offense.
  16. Absolutely. Marvel did all of this without use of their marquee franchises until they got the rights to Spidey back from Sony.
  17. Well no, I don't think any reasonable person expects that. But they can and should be very good.
  18. Yeesh, that's a hard take. Where you see holes, I see a bunch of good players. Yeah, Rosario is hot and cold. That's how he rolls. He's basically Vlad Lite. Putting Buxton in leadoff is such an old idea. So he's fast, whatever. Kepler is a much better leadoff guy for so many reasons.
  19. Neither am I, and I'm a HUGE Star Wars bobo. I know the trash compactor number. I've read all the books. Once, my friends challenged me to repeat every line from A New Hope live as the movie played. I made it 33 minutes before missing a beat. But this Marvel series is... wow. One of the least-talked about points of Cap holding the hammer is Thor yelling "YES! I KNEW IT!" It made an amazing moment even better.
  20. Actually, I kinda love that the manager is so off-beat with the marketing department. I think that's a good thing.
  21. I'm the inverse of you. I actually had some faith in Odorizzi but little in Garver. Yay for being wrong! Garver still isn't a good defensive catcher but it appears he's improving and by quite a bit. And it's pretty easy to field a mediocre defensive catcher if the dude is hitting like Piazza.
  22. Okay, cool. Wait, what? Read what you wrote again, maybe this time a bit more slowly.
