    Eh, Cave has barely played and is a fifth outfielder. I don’t really care if he flails for a few games, at least he’s providing defensive value. Either way, he’ll be gone soon enough. Sano, on the other hand... yikes. He can’t last long playing like this.

    Wow, I didn’t expect to be saying this so quickly, but how long until Miguel is demoted? I think the only thing keeping him on this team right now is the fact that Gonzalez is on the IL. Through his last 23 PAs (including the first two tonight), Sano has struck out 14 (!!!!!!!!!!) times.

    The GOP has become the party of non-governance. It's... disappointing... how many people fail to acknowledge that little tidbit of information. The people you elected to govern don't actually want to govern. It's damned hard to fix a problem when you refuse to do your job.

    There's a reason why some of the loudest (intelligent) voices in favor of exploring how to regulate the tech sector come from the tech sector itself. The more you know, the scarier it gets.

    Fair enough, I just don't like the increasing comparisons between criticisms of Mauer and Sano. Sano has yet to have a full above average season. Questioning a guy's approach who was once a top ten prospect in baseball and has yet to stay on the field at an above average clip even once is quite a bit different than questioning a borderline HoF candidate.

    Sano's career rWAR in over 1700 plate appearances: 5.6 Single seasons Mauer had a 5.6 rWAR or higher: 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013 Sano's single season high rWAR is 2.5, which is almost one win lower than Joe Mauer's 2017 season. Asking one of those players to "get better" is reasonable and that player ain't named Joe Mauer.

    I'm not sure why the two prevailing board options only seem to be: 1. Sano is fine! 2. Sano is horrible, trade him! Besides, "Sano is horrible, trade him!" is a completely illogical way to approach the problem. If he's bad and should be traded, his value is at an all-time low.     I'm sorry but it's a real stretch to point out that Sano's contact issues are a problem but the end result of contact issues, strikeouts, are not a problem. I'm not terribly concerned about player strikeouts in and of themselves but I am very concerned about the problems that lead to player strikeouts in excessive numbers. Therefore, by extension I'm also concerned about the strikeouts, particularly with Sano. These two things are inextricably linked. If Sano made more contact and had better pitch recognition, he'd strike out less.

    Congratulations! We are also adopting on July 18th. It has been a rather hellish two years to get to this point and I cannot wait to get past that date so I can tell the entire foster system to go pound sand.

    Maybe the Twins need a guy like Bumgarner but I’m so fixated on the bullpen that I don’t really care about anything else.

    Yep. Since most of us are familiar with Minneapolis, just look at the damage done to north for the past 50 years and they're still not getting it right today. The city basically redlined north Minneapolis into being a black community. Then they starved it of resources. Then, to add the killing blow, they chose to level a big chunk of the community to run the I-94 right along the river when the path that is now the I-394 was readily available. Instead of using mostly open land where I-394 runs today, they plowed through an entire neighborhood, suffocating access to the river in the process. Today, that lack of access to the river is still crippling the area. Given the layout and amenities of modern cities, that river access could be a goldmine (just look at how the east side of the river is blossoming in NE). But nope, that freeway will always be there and it will continue to be a blight of north. And even today, city planners still can't get it right. Did they try to extend the blue line through the heavily-trafficked Broadway (full of businesses), just like they did on University? Nope, go **** yourself, north Minneapolis, we're putting the blue line extension through the middle of EFFING NOWHERE and bypassing north entirely. These are the types of decisions that continue to undermine black neighborhoods while white America just turns a blind eye and yawns. Take a look at what they rejected (the green dotted line) in favor of running the Bottineau line through a huge swath of unoccupied land.

    Good point. I guess it’s not unreasonable to post a WPA that bad over 17 innings if you have an awful game (because it’s essentially two -.200 WPA games rolled into one).
