  1. Nobody wants to face Garver. Price said his toe hurts.
  2. He can be more than a five, that’s for sure. Whether he can be more than a three is another question entirely. But it’d sure be nice if he picked up where Perez left off a few weeks ago.
  3. So this series has been a real slugfest.
  4. Yes, and without thinking about it twice. Gordon's stock has fallen but he's still a solid prospect. Graterol is a fringe top 50 prospect.
  5. My take exactly. Gordon AND Graterol should net you a pitcher with at least one year of control, not two rentals.
  6. I get it but the Yankees didn't even take on *all* the money and Encarnacion is one of the best hitters in baseball. Not sure what the hell Seattle was thinking, to be honest. If they were willing to pay money (which they did), it seems the Red Sox or Cleveland or Tampa would have been willing to give something to get the guy.
  7. I agree that pitching will cost more than Encarnacion but damn, his price was so low that I don't even know what to think.
  8. He is, actually. I think it’s charming.
  9. I'M ACTUALLY NOT WATCHING WHAT IS HAPPENING
  10. Why are they built to only win regular season games? I understand the bullpen is shaky and certainly needs to be addressed but offense has often ruled the day in recent postseasons (of course, whose pitching staff imploded the least has also been a factor). I think the idea of "pitching, pitching, pitching" in the postseason is kinda outdated, though relief pitching is certainly a key factor in today's game.
  11. That doesn't work, as I literally only have the game playing in my basement and outside.
  12. What you're talking about and what I'm talking about aren't necessarily different. The Twins have "their guys" and opposing GMs have "their guys". Those lists are not going to be even close to 100% consistent on grading levels.
  13. It’s two games. Besides, mandatory fielding practice won’t do a damned thing in the middle of June.
  14. I have now watched five Royals runs score and zero Twins runs score.
  15. Heh, I deserve some mocking posts but in the world of sabrmetrics, 1985 is ancient (and my statement had more to do with the idea that the QS has anything to do with modern statistical analysis, as it predates that movement by a healthy margin).
  16. I’ve known of the quality start for roughly 20 years and it has always been 6/3. I know this because I remember arguing its validity in the early 2000s because a pitcher could go 8/4 and not get a QS, which makes zero sense.
  17. "Taken hold"? The Quality Start stat is ancient.
  18. I swear, this team should pay me not to watch innings. Caught that disaster second, missed the Twins scoring two runs. Caught the game just in time to watch Cruz leave the bases loaded. I see the opposing team score as much as the Twins... which is pretty astounding, given that this team has THE BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL.
  19. I'm not talking a massive overpay but a slight overpay on a reliever should not hamstring the organization because relievers just don't cost that much. I mean, just look at what the Yankees paid for Encarnacion. If the team targeted a FA reliever, it should cost just one of any number of "decent but whatever" prospects the Twins have in their system (and they have a BUNCH of those guys). And I trust this front office enough to properly evaluate their own prospects while another bad organization overvalues the same prospect. This front office isn't the Astros but after they put together the 2019 squad, it's becoming more apparent they're working on a higher level than a lot of other franchises. It shouldn't be that hard to bamboozle somebody into taking a prospect this front office doesn't care that much about in the first place.
  20. Even if it costs slightly more than that paltry sum, I’d pay it to get a good reliever today.
