I see no reason to start Garlick over Sano and Rooker has no business being anywhere in Minneapolis. Don't let a kneejerk reaction to convince yourself that anything must be better than what they're doing right now. It can, and could, get worse. I'm interested in seeing Kirilloff get time at first but he and Sano are opposite-handed. And while it's likely that Kirilloff will be bad against LHP, we know that Arraez is bad against LHP. And Arraez is also a terrible left fielder so why would he be out there against LHP again? It doesn't make sense. -
I definitely agree about Gordon because Polanco has been ****ing awful for so long now. I'm interested in Larnach but simply don't have enough faith in his readiness to say much of anything one way or the other.

Overreacting due to a sense of urgency is how you replace potentially good players like Sano with bad players who have no business in the majors. Going into today, Sano had just 62 PAs. That's still well into the territory where one good game makes his numbers look okay and two good games make it look like he's hitting reasonably well again.

But him taking pitches and drawing walks is an indicator he's close to getting right. Whereas Polanco has looked completely hopeless since late in 2019.

They'll keep him up because middle infield depth, particularly on defense, is not a strength on this team. I'm not sure if Gordon is a better SS than Polanco but I doubt he's worse because Jorge is pretty bad nowadays (in all the ways, really).

I'm generally positive about Cave, moreso than a lot of people here, and this could almost be my take on him word-for-word. The only caveats is that he really hasn't been "bad' for that long (less than 200 PAs). I'm not completely sold that he's not going to bounce back somewhat but given his marginal overall ceiling as a platoon fourth OF, I don't really care about him, either. If the Twins want to get rid of him, I'm not going to cry about it... but no one is going to give anything of value for him so let's put that idea to bed.

Broxton is almost 31 years old, has played in four organizations, and has a career minor league OPS of .754. Exactly what do you think he is that literally hundreds of coaches, analysts, and baseball minds have missed over the past dozen or so years?

No one will make that trade right now. Cave is essentially valueless at this point.

From day one, Berrios has always been clear that he's willing to bet on himself (and good for him). It shouldn't surprise any of us a deal has not been reached, as he's always seemed eager to either reach free agency or get close enough that his value is maximized in a contract.

If he's ready, sure... but we have absolutely no evidence that is the case. For the hundredth time, it sure would have been nice had MLB not sacrificed a month of the MiLB season to save a couple of bucks. The Twins would have so many more options right now if their upper minors teams had 20+ games under their belts.

Fans often seem ready to punt after the third game of the season. I hope the front office is a touch more stable and rational than that.

Because you start burning service time on players who have no business attempting to hit MLB pitching? I mean, Larnach might be an option soon but I'm sure the front office wants to see him compete against MiLB pitching for a bit before making a decision. Celestino has no business being anywhere near a major league baseball game.

The problem is that they literally can’t because before a few hours ago, exactly ZERO minor league games had been played this season.

I sure am glad MLB postponed the minor league season to save themselves 50 cents per team because there’s no way the Twins could possibly need any of those arms right now. Cheap bastards.

Gibson had some good runs with the Twins and at least one incredible run (2015, maybe?). He’s done this before and when it’s on, his slider is quite good. And I’ve never heard anyone say anything but nice things about Gibson. Apparently he’s a really good dude.

The difference between good Gibson and bad Gibson is often the difference between nibbling and hitting the black. I have no ill will toward the guy but I’m glad I don’t have to watch him pitch regularly anymore.

1. Because no minor leaguers have actually played in games. Thanks for that, MLB. 2. Because you don't table flip your roster in late April when sample sizes are still small and you don't have players ready to fill those roster spots. Thanks again for that, MLB.

Almost every LHB in MLB history is vulnerable to LHP, at least relative to their performance versus RHP. Kirilloff's minor league OPS versus LHP, at a glance, appears to be slightly >.100 lower than his OPS against RHP. Which is pretty normal and expected. Even the mighty Barry Bonds had a .100 point lower OPS against LHP. As for Arraez, his gap is huge... a .235 point OPS difference between RHP and LHP in his career.
