Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I thought he'd make the team. The release is pointless, he's out for the season. Are the Twins saving $$$ with this move?

Not unless someone else signs him this season. So, no. Doesn't really accomplish anything, but there must have been a reason to do it now. Maybe he requested it?
old nurse Verified Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 If he wasn't going to be signed for next year maybe he wanted to rehab at home rathr than Fort Meyers.Other pitchers of note being released, is Volquez worth a look? never mind, the Dodgers signed him

In that case, no reason not to make the break official now. I think the Twins are still on the tab for the rehab, regardless.
