Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 You can swing and still get an HBP now?
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Doumit with the little league 'run until they tag you' base running gaffe. It's been a great game otherwise If the lead holds up, the kangaroo court after the game will be a merry one.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 You can swing and still get an HBP now? If the score were reversed, I'd also kangaroo court him after the game. "You swung, at *that*?"
Ted666 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Also from the pbp: Joe Mauer Strike (swinging), Strike (swinging), Ball, Ball, Foul, Ball, Ball, J Mauer walked The "Joe doesn't try in the clutch" crowd will just look at the walk and say that he wimps out when two guys are in scoring position. But the pitch-by-pitch tells another story. Sometimes you try and fail, and eventually the pitcher walks him because he won't swing at slop; that won't stop the narrative some people wish to carry. Don't think people are saying he doesn't try. Saying he DOES NOT suceede. $22+million a year for meaningless singles is a big problem
Ted666 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 You can swing and still get an HBP now? At Yankmee Stadium against the Twins anything is possible
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Meanwhile, Gibson is demonstrating the value of a strikeout pitch in certain situations, in reverse.

Saying he DOES NOT suceede. $22+million a year for meaningless singles is a big problem "Meaningless singles" is an entirely subjective opinion. Is a hit only meaningful if it scores a run? That's a pretty high bar to set. Also, he didn't single there, he walked.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 That blind squirrel still has his tail. Try again. The game is young my friend! Gardy is working on it.

Saying he DOES NOT suceede. $22+million a year for meaningless singles is a big problem 22+ is my new favorite way to write the number 23. Mauer leads the team in slugging, so he must occasionally hit more than a meaningless single.

(I'm going with the "subtract one and add a +" way of counting numbers.)
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 See, a meaningless double! The jerk.

Brad Swanson Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 30 RBI is a fact. $22+million a year is a fact. Mauer makes outs at the lowest rate in Twins history. That has some value.
James Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 30 RBI is a fact. $22+million a year is a fact. See earlier post about game threads and facts. Thank you.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Did Gibson have such control problems in the minors, typically, or is this an off day for him?
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 30 RBI is a fact. $22+million a year is a fact. Game threads are for fun. Fact.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Not to get all "current game" or anything, but Gibson is still in the game in the 6th inning. Wouldn't have bet much on that a couple innings ago.

Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Swarzak nooooooo. I thought the Twins were trying to win this game

Answered your question and did not changed the subject. $22 million a year for Joey's production is an albatross of a contract that drags the Twins down
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Answered your question and did not changed the subject. $22 million a year for Joey's production is an albatross of a contract that drags the Twins down Last time I'm responding to you. I asked if every hit that didn't result in a run scored was meaningless, to which you said "30 RBI" in response.
Brad Swanson Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Answered your question and did not changed the subject. $22 million a year for A Joey's production is an albatross of a contract that drags the Twins down I fixed this, but it's not his fault that he's a baby kangaroo. Fact.

minn55441 Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Not trying to hijack the thread, but Buxton is now in the futures game on ESPN 2, if you get bored with the Twins pounding the Yanks.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I fixed this, but it's not his fault that he's a baby kangaroo. Fact. Ever had albatross-kangaroo stew? Delicious. / unrelated, but I tried elephant-rabbit stew once. Tasted mostly like elephant
