If it weren’t for the $10 million we are paying C4 to play third base for the Astros, the Twins would have a lower payroll than the Pirates. While I agree that payroll isn’t everything, this org isn’t set up to win in this environment.

Derek Shelton went from Pittsburgh to Minnesota just as the two teams started spending similarly.

Twins are currently out-spending the Pirates by just $3 million for 2026, and that includes eating $10 million of Carlos Correa's salary to play for another team.
