Steve Lein Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 The Arizona Fall League rosters for 2025 are out. Twins prospects are playing on the Peoria Javelina's roster this year: https://www.mlb.com/milb/news/2025-arizona-fall-league-rosters?t=arizona-fall-league-coverage After a couple very disappointing years as far as who's been sent, I'm pleasantly surprised this go 'round. Pitching in the AFL is always lacking as far as "Top prospects" go unless there are innings being made up (Andrew Painter did pitch in the league last year), but there are some arms that have shown glimpses for the Twins: RHP Miguelangel Boadas RHP Jakob Hall RHP Hunter Hoopes RHP Dylan Questad LHP Zander Sechrist The "big" names are the position players: 3B Billy Amick IF Brandon Winokur OF Hendry Mendez The AFL Season begins on October 6th with Peoria facing Scottsdale in the kickoff game. ashbury Verified Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 I treasure the snapshot my son Bashbury was able to take of Byron Buxton in the AFL back in 2014. I might be able to dredge up a shot of some guys named Kepler and Rosario that year too. It's seriously doubtful I'll have the same feelings in 2036 about a photo I might take of Billy Amick if I were to make the pilgrimage this year. LOL, I just looked up the roster. Future and ex but not really Twin Anthony DeSclafani pitched for that Salt River squad too. LOL^2, he might be pitching against the Twins this week. Steve Lein and DocBauer 2
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 The names listed this go-round don't move the needle very much from the prior two years. If the Twins still went to even a little effort to make it fun, I'd be the AFL's biggest evangelist. Here's a moderately fun shot from 2022, the last AFL I can say I really enjoyed on the baseball merits. Here they are, pretending they can play middle-infield defense, just like big-leaguers. Adorable. Would you like to see a photo of Edouard Julien getting hit by a pitched ball? Because, here is a photo of Edouard Julien getting hit by a pitched ball. The opportunity for close proximity with Twins prospects, and maybe getting a good photo if you have even a decent little camera like I did, is unmatched by anything except the back fields in Fort Myers in March. As you can infer from the backgrounds, you pretty much have the whole ballpark to yourself and the scouts with their radar guns; you can chat them up a bit if you're mindful. Geez, now I'm almost talking myself into another drive down Interstate 11. Steve Lein and DocBauer 2
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 (edited) A really interesting group here. Sechrist was signed as an UDFA following the '24 draft after a really solid career. He had a solid rookie debut this year, but needs to increase his K numbers. Hoopes, also an UDFA has blown away hitters at both A levels and just reached AA in his rookie season. He's potentially a fast riser in 2026. Questad got off to a solid start this year, but still has some control issues. Mendez is new to the Twins and learning some 1B. He's got a good bat and eye, but he's got to get the ball in the air more. Hits way too many groundballs. Amick missed a lot of time. This makes up for thst and gets him ready for AA next season. Winokur going is a slight surprise to me. He's been healthy all year and did some good things. This shows me how high the Twins are on him and want him to get this extra development time. This is a lot more interesting group than last year. Edited September 12, 2025 by DocBauer Wrong name Steve Lein and ashbury 2

I was speaking about Sechrist but typed Hall's name for some reason. Thank you for catching my goof! ashbury 1
