Tampa trades Aaron Civale to Milwaukee for prospect Gregory Barrios

Civale hasn't been outstanding this year, but has been a solid starter in the past and still controlled through 2025.

Barrios turned 20 in April and is having a very solid season in high A. 

Mostly just sharing to show the value that went out for a controllable starter.

What am I missing on this trade?  Granted Civale hasn't had a great year, but a controllable starter should get more than the 26th rated prospect in the Brewers minor leagues, right?  Or are there more details pending on this trade?

I think teams have gotten much more adept at realizing the difference in value in improving the 'floor' as opposed to improving the 'ceiling' of their teams. A guy like this likely only minimally improves the team more than a waiver claim guy like Caleb Boushley or whatever the Brewers have floating around AAA and AA. Adding someone you could stick at the top of your rotation is still going to cost a pretty penny I'd think.
