TopGunn#22 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Thanks Steve! Thanks Seth! I probably read his name several times but never realized the totality of the numbers he was putting up. I really should just google the "stats" of the various Twins farm clubs one in a while to take in more than just who may have had a hot week. Again, thanks for pointing this out !! Steve Lein 1

At least he did in mine, hah! Got a few questions asking about what type of player he was, this was one of my answers: "Good organizational depth. 24-year old getting his first action at the double-A level this year. He has stood out in a quite a few of my reports this year I feel like, hitting .300 with 30 steals, but is another lefty corner outfielder, lacking some thump." It would not surprise me to see him start back in Wichita again next year, but probably depends on how many Andrew Stevenson type signings the Twins make now that the Rule 5 draft is over. Is his arm not good enough for center? His lack of power and good OBP would play well there. He had the speed to steal 50 bases last year so have to assume he has the wheels to play center. I have him starting in AAA next year given Keirsey seems like the only legit outfielder there right now. I guess if you include Martin then there are two guys. I don't see Garlic coming back, but maybe he will. At any rate as things stand there is room for him right now. He has good walk and K ratio's but slugging is holding him back some. I'd like to see what he can do at AAA. I didn't watch him a ton last year, but I liked the plate appearances I saw and he is a beast on the bases. Unless something changes 4th outfielder looks like his ceiling right now, but the Twins have found ways to get guys the power they need. If he finds it I think they might have something in Fajardo.

From what I can tell he's played exactly 3 innings in CF in his career, so no, I do not think he can play the position. Past articles I can find also talk about how he doesn't really have a position, and he started his career as an infielder (one example: https://piratesprospects.com/2022/05/yoyner-fajardo-is-a-hitter-without-a-position.html). I can't really give you a reason beyond that but will say that almost 100% of the time, if a team thinks a player is capable of playing CF, he will play there and this just hasn't been the case with Fajardo. Thanks for the deeper look!! So they are just hiding him in left then and his bat and speed on the bases are his main skillset. He is going to need to add power then if he wants to be noticed and an option for left. He is a really good contact hitter just not sure that will be enough in todays game especially with suspect defense.
