ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 It's the Game thread baby... A Magical place where anything can happen. And to which RB also contributes.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 If she is over 13... She becomes someone you have to tell to put the cell phone down because she is distracting you. Not necessarily. I remember a game with my daughter, where we were close enough to the warmup pitching mound that she could visibly drool over Johan Santana's physique... she was somewhat over 13 at the time, but they grow up early.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Wheww... abrupt thread trend reversal! We're good eggs here. Sometimes a person might not notice. But we are.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I'm a little jealous... I have Two Mostly Grown Boys (19 and 15). My wife has one Mostly Grown Boy (59).
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Not necessarily. I remember a game with my daughter, where we were close enough to the warmup pitching mound that she could visibly drool over Johan Santana's physique... she was somewhat over 13 at the time, but they grow up early. That sounds scary for a father. I had boys so I never had to experience that,
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 If I used the phrase "Eye Roast"... I'd probably get starred at with a quizzical look. And this will be different, from other times, how exactly?
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Now that was funny... Excellent debut post this evening. I dunno, GCTF already set the bar pretty high in that exchange.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 And this will be different, from other times, how exactly? Its not... It's not... I've come to accept it.
Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Anyone know the last time we swept a 4 gamer?
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 That sounds scary for a father. I had boys so I never had to experience that, I won't be condescending, so I'll just say that I view with extreme pity bordering on contempt anyone who hasn't had the privilege of raising at least one of both genders. I'll also add that before I had kids, I had 3 theories on raising children. Now I have 3 children, and no theories.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I dunno, GCTF already set the bar pretty high in that exchange. I was actually hoping that Joe would post the pictures... Just so I could respond... Which one is the roast. Joe didn't play along and you were able to express the idea anyway... It all worked out.

I hope... It's a little soon,
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Anyone know the last time we swept a 4 gamer? I have trouble remembering to put my pants on when I leave the house.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I'll be hoping for a grand daughter down the line... I can wait... At least... I hope... It's a little soon, Since you had 2 kids and I've got 3, I'll add the other good one I roll out every now and then. It was given to me by a co-worker just a few years older than me at the time (I guess he still is): when you go from 2 kids to 3, you switch from a Man-to-Man defense to a Zone. I thought it was funny at the time, afterward I learned it was dead serious.

ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I have trouble remembering to put my pants on when I leave the house. And yet you worry about quizzical looks for "Eye Roast"?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Awesome... Are you a Grandfather yet?Yep, one grandson with a granddaughter due in a month.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 The roast is the one I just ate. I'll show myself out. Hey-yo! We're up to page 3. What inning is it? The 4th? The 5th?
Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I have trouble remembering to put my pants on when I leave the house. That's not critical. All of the greatest heroes in American history have gone pants-less at one time or another.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I have trouble remembering to put my pants on when I leave the house. I also have trouble remembering to say "excuse me... I'm about to change the subject".
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 And yet you worry about quizzical looks for "Eye Roast"? Do you think that something to do with the staring? I would think it would cause a more shielding type reaction.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Anyone know the last time we swept a 4 gamer?Even if the Twins win, you'll have to put an * in there because technically it is back to back two game series.

Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Do you think that something to do with the staring? I would think it would cause a more shielding type reaction.Depends on what you're packin'.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Yep, one grandson with a granddaughter due in a month, In all seriousness... The best thing about Babies... You get to hold them while you are watching the Vikings or Twins. And if you holding a baby... The wife will not ask you to go mow the lawn... Get something down from the cupboard.... Fix something. You can actually watch uninterrupted.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Yep, one grandson with a granddaughter due in a month. Is the correct protocol still to carry a wallet full of photos? No grandkids on the horizon for me as far as I am told, but I need to know whether the Internet age means I'll have to get with the times when it does happen, and keep an iPad tucked in the back pocket of my relax-fit jeans.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 That's not critical. All of the greatest heroes in American history have gone pants-less at one time or another. I heard that Einstein used to do it frequently... He was always so deep in thought that he would just think his way out the door without pants. I'm sure he'd walk past strangers and someone would say "look at this genius with no pants".
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Depends on what you're packin'. Excuses, mainly.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Anyone know the last time we swept a 4 gamer? Sorry. This is a game thread. Any discussion about the game itself is not allowed.
Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I want to beat Lohse pretty bad. That probably means 6-1 Brew Crew.
