Puerto Rico WBC Roster--Pagan, Moran, Rodriquez, de Leon--really?

Gleeman and the Geek were saying that Twins had a lot of guys in the WBC. I guess I don't consider eight to be a big number, especially since some of the guys aren't even going to make the roster. I was particularly surprised that Emilio Pagan is on the Puerto Rican team after his performance the last three years. Similarly, Dereck Rodriquez is also on the PR team and he's barely been in the majors for the last three years along with Jose de Leon, who hardly has pitched in the majors without much success. 

Jovani Moran is also on the PR team and he's only got about half a season in the majors. Does the PR team have a lot of connections with the Twins? It would seem so.

Was their point that 8 is a large number to be taken off of the roster and as a result fewer cuts were being made at this point?
